Fishing Vacation Scenario
Sounds like you did pretty good.....Don't know if I would have stayed in during the rain unless waves prevented me from getting out. Love fishing in the rain....less people and pressure on the fish and the cooler influence on the lake can make a reaction bite pretty good.

Anyone fishing during the eclipse?
Did not want to fight any traffic so stayed close to home. Mowed yard ...finished a book....went golfing with my wife. Still looking down at flowers....was a good day.

Straight florocarbon vs Braided with Florocarbon leader
Double uni knot fan here....and I use all braid with fluro leaders...not as heavy as most...but it's all personnel choices and many articles written on this site about it. It will all boil down to how you like your applications to fish. Myself.....cranking....15 PP....12# leader Spin...10 PP....6 to 12# leaders Pitchin.....30PP .....20# leader Hardly ever go over 30 Tight Lines

A two-fer ...almost
While fishing the Columbia a number of years ago I did it several times one summer. Fish were schooling heavy and while using a crank bait you would hook one and if you brought it in slow and let the fish work itself out around the boat you could see another try and take it away....was cool.

Lets talk tube set ups
Have always used a 7' spinning rod for the most part. I prefer 10 lb Power Pro with 10 or 12 lb fluro leader. I'm different then most than I like to use an internal weight ....used to be called a gitzit glider. Use mostly all Dry Creek tubes in pumpkins and candy in 3 1/2". 3/0 or 4/0 wide gaps finish the bill. Love this set up....can't find the weights anymore so me and a friend make them.

These old lures worth anything? Cleaning out tackle box!
Use em....if your down by the lake and see a kid fishing...offer him or her a bait or two if you want. Then go get yourself a new bait and enjoy the life of being a tackle junkie.. Tight Lines

2 firsts today! Snapping turtle and..
50 to 100 fish days used to not be uncommon on the Columbia when I lived out there in the spring and sometimes late summer. Shasta and Orville used to be the same for spots....amazing. I remember one ten day period on those last two lakes where I went through over 100 old ugly tubes from Dry Creek on spots. Hands were so sore. Don't know how many I caught per tube but it was crazy good.

Fishing just for fun?
I do a lot of fun fishing with the grand kids and son and by myself. I also like the new friendships, competition with small tourneys. I just plain like about everything about fishing...from watching the dawns early light to the sunsets. Even fishing from the bank...it's all a blessing. What I don't care for in bass fishing is rudeness, it's my water, it's my boat ramp, rude skiers and jet ski's....also rude boaters period...me,me,me attitudes.....water sports has it all as does probably most other sports......but I love the water and the closeness it brings with family and friends....no mater how we approach it. Tight Lines P.S. Now I'm off to take a couple friends of my wife from France white bass fishing....not my first choice but they will enjoy. And it will be a good day.

Ever take your dog with you?
Dogs are a lot of company...and companionship. Have taken them in the past...but like mentioned above they need watched and when I fish I tend to just like to focus on fishing and not worrying about hooks , swimming etc.

Vacation
Have spent most of my time in the Willamette valley area. Was born in Astoria. Have caught about everything Oregon has to offer including some giant sturgeon. Then I started bass fishing and was blessed to do a lot of traveling. So sad of the reg's out there in Oregon concerning bass...but...is what it is I guess. Tight Lines

Road Trip
I just finished driving across the United States to the west coast to visit family in Oregon and then down to New Mexico to visit for a couple more days. Wow....what all that driving does to a body!!!!! I gained about eight pounds just munching my way across these miles let alone getting somewhat stiff. I did get to drive down memory lane (Columbia Gorge) and see places I used to fish and no body fishing...was amazing. Also looked like there where more net bouy's in the river......sadness!!! I also did not get to fish one bit....almost three weeks without feeling a wiggle. Fingers crossed for the clubber today. Tight Lines all.

Dad Afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease
Lifted you all up.....I have walked this walk and it's painful. Believe it's more painful for the family than the one who is stricken. May God Bless
