They say its the tight wiggle in colder water. It was a champ for me in the Fall thru Late Spring. The jointed version does well for me in the Summer but for some reason I haven't thrown it all this year. Too many lures..not enough time.
  2. Yeah, I don't usually play around when setting the hook. If I'd had my normal line on I suspect my night wouldn't have been much better. It was just an off night, but feeling everything did throw me off. I suspect a lot of those bites were small bass or panfish. But several times it was that deeper single thump and they were gone. My biggest was a big catfish out on a point..thought I was into a good one..lol
  3. My line was getting low of my old clear blue mono, so I dug into my little cooler and realized I had some fluorocarbon left on a spool so I put it on. I hadn't used it since switching over to Tungsten and wanted to feel it. Very sensitive combination. I could feel everything. But I had a very bad night..the bite was off. Had a lot of short strikes. Its weird, you get used to the way a line feels and something different throws you off. But here's the question, I'm around 200lbs and when I feel that hit with fluoro, it without a doubt seems magnified over what it does with mono. But...isn't that same extra pressure (for lack of a better word) being felt even more on a 3 lb bass? Wouldn't that cause them to drop it quicker? Probably wouldn't matter if the chow bag was on, but when negative or neutral, can it make them drop it? Very random..I know.
  4. I've told this story before on here.. I was fishing with my non-fishing brother-in-law years ago. He was burning a Texas rig worm across the pond. I was in mid sentence telling him to slow down when he connected with biggest Bass I'd ever seen in that pond... I shut up..lol Swimming a worm has been working for me as well this Summer..it probably doesn't qualify as fishing a lure wrong but it is a forgotten technique.
  5. I stayed away for years but really like the small size in the 1/4. I can fish a T-Rig all day and not lose one and usually don't have to go get it. You won't lose as many, maybe not to the point of offsetting the price but seems to make my fishing more hassle free. You also get better feel, even with mono.
  6. All of my lead is gone. In lighter weights 1/8, 3/16 I have steel..cheap and still fairly small. Above 1/4, I've gone to Tungsten

Like Mr Bill Dance once said..if you only ask one question at the ramp, ask what depth did you catch them?
  8. Lol, feels normal to me. Now I'm wondering how everybody else holds a BC while fishing plastics. I never gave it much thought. On a Spinning reel just the index finger hits the blank for me.
  9. I like a fore grip and have been holding it this way during a retrieve for a long time. Just seems natural to me..line between fingers..fingers on blank. If this is wrong, I don't wanna be right..lol.

The new Rangers are 10-12K cheaper than the F150s in the 2020 model. Or at least, that's what I saw walking around the dealership..depending on the packages.
  11. I've only had one split ring failure, hooked into a big Muskie on Green River (for the locals). Buddy netted it and it went nuts ripping off both rings of my jointed shad rap. But it was already in the net.
  12. Exactly the same here... I have decided to start sitting at night, bumped a tree the other night and almost went in the drink.

I kind of like it..not that color but I like what Ford is doing with the Ranger and the Bronco. My F150 is 20 years old..so I'm looking at the new Ranger.
  14. Texas Rig, 2/0 Round Bend, 1/4 Tungsten...90% of the time this summer.
  15. Powerworms and Zoom's Mag II
  16. I was down at my mom's for the 4th yesterday and she needed some trim work replaced so I had to make a couple trips to Lowes and ended up spending about 4 hours in the direct sun mid day. Started getting headache and a little nauseous. Luckily I had finished, put up the tools and went in. Took me about half hour in the AC to feel right. It can happen quick.
  17. One time I had one in my livewell..that was weird. ?
  18. I need to get back to throwing those bigger worms. I've been doing decent with 7in ribbontails recently, but I've had some good success in the past on the bigger ones. There's just not enough hours in a day on the water.
  19. Yeah, never been there. I use to fish here in KY with a buddy from Texas who fished Fork back in the day and heard his stories..but sounds like that was back in the heyday. Didn't realize it'd gone down.
  20. I looked at whole list. I haven't fished any of them..lol. Kentucky Lake, Dale Hollow, and Table Rock not on the list. Surprised that Fork is that low at 16.
  21. A little local store sells CXX in clear Blue. I tried it once but that memory was a beast..but it was tough as nails. He also sells McCoy in clear Blue..almost no memory but didn't hold up in brush...and after a few break offs. I went back to Stren, kind of a middle of the road line that is still my #1. That was several years back.
  22. Later today in the Blue Worm aisle...?
  23. I adjust the drag by feel and just trust the drag. I've never back reeled. To be honest, the main work out my drag gets is on Drums and Catfish...lol
  24. Yes, weighted, pegged..at least that's how I've been swimming my worms. Can't see why it'd be different other than hook size.
