  1. i just reel them in!!!
  2. i just fished it yesterday from sun up to 3 and caught 6 fish. big fish was 3 pounds, and our 5 biggest went around 12 pounds. the wind was blowing pretty good out of the ne, so we did not get to go down south. we fished hendersons cove, josephine creek, arbuckle creek, and the heads in front of lake istokpoga park. all fish were caught on flappin shads, pointers, and senkos. i love that lake, and i am going back next week to pre-fish because my club is having our classic on the 8th of december. i will let you know how i do next week. i am not sure where you can stay, but check in the town of lorida, there has to be accomodations there.
  3. the chatterbait bite is not here yet. when the cold fronts start rolling in down here, the chatter will definitely be a major fish catcher.
  4. i have been trying to get my club to fish a tourny out of lake ida/osbourne for 2 years now. they usually laugh and i am out voted. december through march the ida/osbourne chain are off the hook. my club just hates the jet skiers and idiot boat traffic. leisurville has some toads---but they only want a specific bait. great day gentlemen!
  5. stan i cannot believe you have that photo. i am born and raised in florida, and when i was in high school (1981-1985), i had 2 pictures hanging in my locker. one was that EXACT photo, and the other was a pic from my surfing mag of the monthly reef model. all i wanted to do when i was younger was surf and bass fish, and of course hook up with a reef model. wow that is a great photo!
  6. i have the garmin 72 and i love it. it is around 200 bucks. i don't have the color one, but i don't need it. it floats, and it has many great features. give it a look.
  7. i have a couple of bags of the rage tailfrog, and they do have great action. i tried them this sunday in a tourney, and caught a dink. switched over to the horny toad and limited out in about 20 minutes. this is just another great bait to add to a fishermans arsenal.
  8. when i flip, i never use a jig. i use a 1/2 0z. tungsten pegged with a 5/0 ewg gama with a baby paca craw. i will swim a jig, but never have i flipped a jig.
  9. You may want to visit The Candy Store in Lake Wales. They have any and everything you'd want. They also have 20 bins full of rebuilt baitcasters and spinners. Be warned if you go there you will spend hundreds. hey lj--does the candy store have a website?
  10. that is a tiny lake for that many boats. with that many dead fish, i would think the local mangement would remedy the problem by only allowing so many boats per tourny. i wasn't being disrespectful with my comments, just giving aother alternative. sorry if i offended you. check your pm
  11. whatever bill dance does---do the opposite. that guy jacks the fish up by the lip, slaps the fishes belly, and puts a finger in the fishes gills and spreads them. davis is right--if holding a big bass by the lip, support the belly with the other hand.
  12. rondef-i would definately try a LC slender pointer. this bait works! it can also be worked many different ways. i know they are a bit pricey, but in this baits case--you get what you pay for.

guilty as charged. i am so frugal, that the other day i was throwing a LC slender pointer (best hard jerkbait on the market IMO) and it got hung up on something under water. without hesitation, i shed my shirt and flipflops, and dove off the boat to get it. it sure is spooky under stained water. retrieved it, retied and continued fishing.
  14. trust me davis i feel his pain. living in south florida, lake okeechobee is soo low that a lot of tournaments have been relocated to holiday park(which is where i do 80% of my fishing). for 6 straight months there was a tourny on both saturday and sunday at the park. there was a minimum of 50 boats each day. i know what he is feeling, which is why i found other places to fish. unfortunately for us anglers down here, it is only going to get worse.
  15. is it going downhill because of the paddle boats or the large number of tournaments? i can see the paddle boat thing being a problem, but too many tourny's is being a little selfish IMO. would you prefer that the park only allow your club to fish there? if so, then i agree with cart---find another lake.
  16. i have 3 quantum spinners, the catalyst, kinetic, and the boca (for snook and tarpon). i love them. i had 7 quantum baitcasters and i loved them, but i recently switched over to shimano. i can't comment on the rods, because i have never fished them.
  17. thanks RW i will give it a go.
  18. will that affect the movement of the bait? for example: a big spook, pop r, skitter prop.
  19. i throw a lot of topwater baits, and when i throw a bait that doesn't have a split ring, i use a jig loop. i just recently purchased some very expensive topwater baits, and i will throw them on braid instead of mono. my question: is there a loop knot i can tie using a braided line? some topwater baits that do not have a split ring need a jig loop for that "distinct" sound. i have yet to find a jig loop that works for braid. please help.
  20. i had 34.15 in a 40 boat tourny. i placed first with first big fish (8.7) and second big fish (7.15) and i had the smallest boat in the field (17 foot pathfinder w/a yamaha 50). i was culling 5 pounders by 10am. it was an amazing day. the best part was i did it alone.
  21. war eagle and hildebrand. okeechobee special.
  22. his snakes suck. overpriced rubberbands. if you want a snake that really works, go to delonglures.com and get yourself one of theirs for $3.95. i have caught more fish over 5 pounds on a delong snake, and they last a couple of fish.
  23. did you say striper? as in striper bass? i don't think there are any stripers in florida. maybe some other species, but i'm pretty sure a striped bass.
  24. I love them! They swim great, and they catch fish. The only downside is they tear easy. I have found that if you bite off the head that has been torn, you can swim them on top and make a killer wake. I am going to order a bunch from brad.
