He should be a happy that the woman in his boat was a marshall and not his wife. He never heard the end of that one!!
  2. I fished a 60 yard long point yesterday 2.5 feet of water. It fell off to 8 feet on one side and 14 the other. I was fishing a finesse jig and craw on a spinning rod. I noticed that if I positioned the boat with the trolling motor on top of point about center. Then threw parrell left. I would ctach a few, But they'd quit me. So I'd throw right parrell for a bit. Same deal. I did this all day and probably caught 50. I agree with giving a spot a rest. Thats exactly what happened yesterday.
  3. Our walmarts suck for bass stuff..all slick fishing crap powerbait balls of fire.
  4. 1. Yes... I learn everyday I am on the water weather there is money on the line or not. For me its a success thing, or another way to measure it. I look at a tournament as just another day on the water. I am confident in my abilities just have to make the fish do what I want them too. Sometimes that works sometimes.. it doesn't. 2. The older I get the DUMBER I get. When I was 20 there was nothing I didn't know. Everyday now I am shown that I really don't know that much. I take the few things I do know and work on them. Occassionally picking up a new tactic or presentation.
  5. I watch alot of the pro's do some silly stuff with their boats. Obviously Biffle calls the motor manf. and he has a new motor the next day. I don't have $3,000 and a week for it to be down. I feel sick whenever I do anything to my boat.
  6. I like trailers that look natural.Real looking eyes and tail. I think that is what the fish focuses on when he is getting ready to kill it. I persoanlly like many of the bass assassin baits for trailers.
  7. The best way to learn control is to pitch to a plastic coffee can. After awhile it gets boring. So lay it on its side then pitch to stand it up. Then drag it to tip it back over. That gives you the ultimate control of the bait. Repeat.

    Houdini texas rigged on a 5/0 gammy....MONEY!
  9. I will look into it further. Thanks for the input! I was skipping a concrete structure in murky water. I got irratated with it and started fishing just the 2-10SW braid. I did fine after that and will fish it that water for the tourney on Saturday.
  10. I'd be throwing a lizard...
  11. Both times were at the hook set. I think I will try another knot which one would you recommend?
  12. I recently changed to 10 lb braid on my spinning rods with a 8 lb flauracarbon leader. Twice yesterday when I set the hook and snapped them off. What am I doing wrong?Only thing I can think of is after years of setting on mono. I just don't need to pop em like I am used too?
  13. They may have been white bass and not green bass. I would start looking to the cover in 2-3 feet of water. I would bet the water temp up there is higher.I'd start with a gitzit or jig and craw of some sort, thrown around brush or cedars.
  14. I called Ranger to see about getting a deck extention for my 482v. I about fell down when they told me it would be $320 and it wouldnt match since they do not have that carpet anymore. So that got me thinking about building my own. Has anyone ever done this? I can't see where it would be too difficult to do. if someone has pictures of one they have done it would be great!! thanks!
  15. Did you get it figured out? I have a pair of used 16' cables if you would be interested I would make you a deal on them.
  16. Welcome to our state. When I moved out here in 2002. If someone would have told me the bass fishing was as good as it is. I would have told em they are crazy. I grew up in Southern Mo on the Table Rock and Bull Shoals. How could you get any better then that?? Our bass fishing can be second to none. Biggest bass I have caught was 9 lb 2 oz. which was out of a small private lake. The biggest difference is most of our impoundments are irragation, so there is constant water moving in and out. This brings new oxygen into them constantly. With more oxygen the fish are more active and feel better. This also means they eat ALOT. Most of the big water Pueblo Aurora etc you shouuld probably have a boat. But there is plenty of small water around if you just do some research. I would recommend you look into the Denver bass club but there are others. If you are not interested in tournament fishing it would be a great way to meet people. The Division of parks and Wildlife will also be extrememly helpful. THey will almost do everything but hook em for you. Good luck!!
  17. I get frustrated with them myself. You would think they are semi weedless. I hang them in every stick they get within 10 feet of. makes me cuss!
  18. Mine is Divorce papers... Only thing she Didn't get.
  19. You can always chunk a spinnerbait infront of the Bellagio... I don't remember a whole lot about Vegas but my credit card statement said I had fun. Oh and don't get on the boat infront of Treasure Island... drunk... had to talk my way outta going to jail over that one.
  20. I had a much better tournament yesterday I finished second. I had prefished the lake on Friday and established a pattern. The water was much more murky, the wind also helped. Just one of those deals I am trying to learn from, I have never been a good clear water fisherman. Thanks to all for their input... reread my post didn't mean to come across like it did.
  21. Ok I didn't post to have you guys critique the decisions I made... obvious I made the wrong ones. I posted to ask what you do in this situation. I didn't know the guys winning it were flipping till after the weigh in. Thanks for the input.
  22. I noticed several guys wearing those hoodie things to protect you face/neck from the reflection and sun. I got my neck sunburned yesterday. So where do I get them and are they hot? Likes dislikes? Thanks
  23. I fished a club tourney yesterday and got the old skunkarooney. I normal can catch fish on the lake but have never fished it under these conditions. It was cold 49-54 degree water, and you could literally see bottom 10-15 foot deep 100' around the boat. We could see them around the brush but if you could see em they weren't going to bite. They guys that won it beat the crap outta the brush flippin a jig. That's not my style. I threw a spinner bait, crawled a jig, threw a rattle trap, down sized bait, finesse fished, threw a chatter bait, ran the gammet. I tried to go to a different area and find fish. I just pure and simple got my rear handed to me. I was wondering what are your ideas on what I could have done different in this situation. The obvious one is flip the brush with a jig. But that to me that style of fishin is like whacking my thumb with a hammer over and over. Thanks!
  24. I like you don't fish a CB alot. I would like to start doing it more. I always have one tied on and I always half heartily throw it. I normally use a white or natural baitfish colored spinnerbait to start with. I will fish this until I find a concentration of fish. Then I will go back down that bank with a slower approach jig or finesse fishing. I prefer a gitzit for these situtations as I can still fish fairly quick. But I have the ability to put it just where I want it. Hopefully putting it right on the nose of a macdaddy.
  25. For me its about season... early spring its crayfish, mid spring thru summer its baitfish pattern for numbers and big crawdad bait for a BIG bite.
