  1. The best I have found after trying multiple different ones is the Reaction Tackle pliers. Comes in both straight nose and split ring nose. The cutters is excellent too. Awesome pliers for $15-$17.
  2. Which did you like better between the HMG and Ardito? I currently have a Ardito spinning rod but will probably be purchasing a travel casting rod in the future.
  3. Almost all my stock hooks get swapped out unless they come with Mustad triple grips. Everything else gets swapped out with the triple grips. But to start out, I always changed stock hooks from Strike King. I learned the hard way after losing 2 good fish.
  4. What sizes of the Denny Brauer do you normally use?
  5. Tatula SV. Places have them on sale all the time. Never paid more than $150 for them. Last one was $135 brand new.
  6. Black/Black Cavitron modified so the blade doesn’t have room to move on the wire. No trailer or trailer hook.
  7. San Diego Jam and Alberto.
  8. I have researched and also purchased more backpacks than I can count and I don’t think that there is any backpack that meets your requirements. Your best bet would be to bring a separate cooler but even that could be a problem on a bike. This would also give you more backpack options.
  9. Cool thanks. I never have anyplace that I really need to skip so I never really tried it.
  10. What is your brake and tension knob setting when skipping?
  11. No problem. I tie the San Diego Jam for my main knot which uses the same concept of finishing the knot by going through the loop on the same side. A lot of videos fail to mention that important detail.
  12. I think what he means is that the tag end of the leader needs to go in the loop on the same side that the main line is. If not I’m misunderstanding too. But here is a pic for reference on how I do it.
  13. I use the Alberto exclusively. I do 7 wraps down and 10 back up. Never had any problems. Once the leader is tied, I reel up until the knot is at the tip of the rod. I then measure my leader by matching it to the length of the rod (to the butt). If done this way, the leader knot will always be above the reel.
  14. This is why I hope Plano makes a 3600 size jig box in the future.
  15. Same here. Also have them rigged on a chatterbait with skirt removed.

I have weighed different items including a 2lb weight on the Dr Meter scale and a rapala scale and came up with the exact same numbers.

The Dr Meter scales on amazon are hard to beat for the price. I have owned both the old and upgraded version and they both work great. They used to be around $9-12 but looks like prices went up couple dollars but still worth it in my opinion.
  18. What lipless cranks and squarebills are you using? Only fish I have lost were on the KVD red eye shad and KVD 1.0 using their stock hooks. I have since changed the stock hooks to Mustad triple grips and never had that problem ever again.
  19. Is this different from a double San Diego Jam? If so I’m curious how it is tied.
  20. I think the 40% off sale for the Dobyns has ended.
  21. I see this all the time too. You rarely see people play the fish. It’s all about overpowering and horsing it in these days. As far as back reeling, I have never done it and probably never will but interesting learning about it.
  22. I just got some double tail hula grubs in smoke with red flake. It’s a killer color and can’t wait to try it.
  23. I have seen the palomar knot fail due to the line crossing. One of my friends was using it for a while and did not realize there was a correct and incorrect way of tying it .
