  1. Looks like quite a few insurance companies won't be doing business in Florida.
  2. Started seeing carp in the river earlier this week, decided to give the bronze beasts a rest and try to land a trash fish. First one I saw (around 4 lbs.) looked at the dough ball twice, then swam away. Went down the river a few yards and spotted two good ones in an eddy. Pitched the dough ball about 5' upstream and waited. Current pushed it to a foot from the carp, he saw it and was on it like a dog on a three-legged cat. Let him hold it for a minute, set the hook and the fight was on. Five minutes later I had my hands on the beast. 8 lbs. on the nose, 27.5" long. Not as fat as the one I caught last month on the jig, but still a good fish nonetheless. No photo as it is hard enough to weigh one, much less take photos. I love the carp spot & stalk. Almost like chasing bonefish. Now I'm ready for an 8 lb. bass...
  3. Perhaps she is like that because of his parenting?
  4. Momma said redneck is as redneck does.
  5. I figured as much. Guess I'll have to drive the 5 hours to Richmond and paint your house orange.
  6. And that is the way it was 100 years ago. Immigrants came to the country to live the American Dream and have a better life than was possible in their former country. They assimilated themselves all the while living in a small part of their former home (China Town, Little Italy, etc.) Now they come here to make money to send back home. Assimilation is the furthest thing from their minds. I can't recall the quote at the moment, but there is a good one floating out there about hyphenated Americans.
  7. The funny thing is that I've seen almost as many good reviews of X-Tex as I have bad. All I know is that while Hybrid and Hybrid US are good lines, X-Tex was just plain horrible.
  8. That is a low low blow! Ouch!
  9. I get strikes in the river all of the time while burning the bait back. There is one hole that I fish where I always get a bite about 4' from the bank around a big rock. I've pulled two out of there in the last three days burning a trap or worm through there. Catch one, another fish takes it's place.
  10. Drive east old man. I'll put you on 1 pounders all day. Just for the low price of one Steez. Until last year, they were pretty much the only bass I knew. LM were lake fish and the only time I fished lakes was for trout, bluegill, or catfish. I enjoy the stability of lake fishing, the lack of current, etc. But to tell you the truth, I am at my happiest when out on the river catching the bronze beasts.
  11. I don't know what hook they use in those heads, but they are very prone to rusting. Doesn't matter if they get wet or stay dry, they just rust.
  12. Well to me they ARE big! But if my big bass buddies heard me callin sixes big, I would never hear the end of it LOL! You CA guys make me feel ashamed to post about my tiny 1 lb. river fish.
  13. I have, but not all that much. Certainly won't hurt to try. I've been catching them by just retrieving a Paca Chunk or Paca Craw just fast enough to get the claws swimming.
  14. Just decent? Makes the fish I've been catching look like minnows. :'(
  15. It gets bad-mouthed a lot, but I haven't had a reason to try anything other than Berkley Vanish.
  16. Charge it and see how long it takes to discharge and then recharge.
  17. I'd rather fish used line dredged off the bottom of a lake than X-Tex Cobra. It stayed on the reel for all of a week. Fished it 20 minutes and knew it wasn't worth burning.
  18. Only when reeling with the drag in operation.
  19. Buy a can of electrical contact cleaner and use it often.
  20. I've been looking for a Team Daiwa hat for the last year. :-/
  21. That has been one of my main problems. The site moves and loads at a snail's pace, no matter where I'm accessing it from. I've got 4 MB DSL at home, Bass Pro is one of the few sites that is almost un-viewable. The order referenced in my original post was placed via the net because of their 'inability' to take my phone call. It took me almost 30 minutes to just enter the catalog numbers and wait for the pages to load. Then there was the matter of a couple of clearance items that were listed on the clearance page, but would not load. Unless they have something that I can't get elsewhere, it just isn't worth it.
