The classic Mr Twister grub? I love them for river smallmouth. 3" or 4" on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz. leadhead. Favorite colors are pumpkinseed or white. I've tried several different brands of grubs, but the Mr Twister is the one I always come back to.

I caught that same fish this evening about 100 yards up river from where I got it Sunday. Recognized it by the white spots on the gill plate. It has them on both sides. It had put on 1 oz. since Sunday. Got it on a weightless Case Mini Magic Stik. Also got a nice 1 lb. 3 oz female on a Baby Paca Craw. Both of them came out of the same hole in pretty much the same spot. Stacked up in a narrow channel with swift current.

One other thing to remember (when casting for accuracy) is to finish the cast with your rod tip pointing where you want the bait to go.

I use a 7' St Croix Premier MHF, Citica 200D, 17 lb. Trilene XT. Terminal tackle is a #5 black barrel swivel, a 1/2 oz. egg sinker, a red plastic bead, Gamakatsu or Owner Cutting Point hook. As for the bait, anything and everything. Trick worm, brush hog, lizard, tube, etc. Rigging...I tie the swivel to the end of the main line using a palomar knot. Then I cut the main line above the swivel. How far depends on how long of a leader you want. I always cut it about 5" longer than what I need to allow for the line used to finish tying. Put the sinker and bead onto the main line, then tie on the swivel and leader. Tie on the hook and away you go.

It is all about educating your thumb, properly adjusting the reel, and comprehending the nature of the reel.

Garlic powder will discolor it a bit. I was semi-joking when I posted that. :-? One would really need an extract or oil. Maybe I could just catch a couple of bluegills, chop them up and soak them in some sort of solvent for a day or two, then strain and reduce the solvent. Mix that with a little vaseline and BAM you've got bluegill supermegafabulousstrike®

I have become quite partial to the Netbait Paca Chunk lately. The 'claws' swim quite nicely.

This time last year I was fishing out a 12' 30 year old jon. All of my rigs were at least 10 years old. I spent more time fishing for trout and bluegill than anything. All of my tackle would fit in four 3600 boxes. I'll say one thing, it takes a lot of money to jump 30 years. :-/

Nothing better than tying on a swivel, then cutting the line about 18" above the swivel (tying a carolina rig), then tying the other end of the swivel onto the main line, then realizing that you forgot to thread the sinker and bead onto the main line. Not that I've ever done that... :

I have no problem paying for quicker shipping when needed. But one would think that a 2.5 week lead time would be sufficient for a small order. It certainly has been with previous orders from BPS. Orders from Cabelas (standard shipping) usually take about 5 days to get here. Tackle Warehouse is about the same and they are in California. BPS seems to have purposely slowed the shipment of ground orders. And while I'm on the subject of shipping, why is that FedEx 2 day air from Tackle Warehouse is only around $13 (on a $150 order including a 7'11 rod) while standard ground from BPS on a $100 order (just baits) is $12? Over the last year BPS shipping has gotten slower and slower for me while Cabelas has actually gotten a little quicker. At least Cabelas gets your order out in a timely fashion. As far as I'm concerned, there is absolutely no reason for BPS to delay the shipment of a small order for 8 business days. If they anticipated a delay, they should certainly inform the customer that there will be a shipping delay before they finalize the order. I'm going to call them tomorrow and give them a piece of my mind.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? I just can't see a connection between the so-called 'sporting nature' and line. I fish braid because I don't want to lose $25 swimbaits.
