  1. This is another of "my" colors, especially in mid-summer. Why? I haven't a clue. You and me both. I tried every color under the sun last year before settling on wm/red. Happened on it one morning and ended up catching around 20 that day on every type of Zoom plastic in wm/red that I had. U-tail, brush hog, finesse worm, trick worm, lizard. Didn't matter what type of bait it was, all that mattered was the color. Problem is finding wm/red that looks right. Zoom has it right, GYBC's wm/red is a bit dark for my liking.
  2. There is a huge difference between the common carp and the grass carp. Around here, the only time the grass carp really bite is in the fall when the acorns are falling.
  3. All I know is that watermelon seed won't catch a thing in one local lake, but you can catch them all day on watermelon/red. Take those wm/red worms to a lake 20 miles up the road and you won't get a bite. Tie on a green pumpkin worm and you get bit. I prefer not to think about color as it makes my head hurt.
  4. I have never gotten a discount code from BPS. And I spend entirely too much there. Not as much as some, but enough to get someone's attention (namely my wife )
  5. BPS has the Revo SX/Extreme XPS combo on sale for $200 until 4/14.

    Yum Sweetcheeks? Storm Kickin' Minnow?
  7. River doesn't look too muddy. You guys miss out on the rain?
  8. That's worse than golf. I can't imagine paying $11 just to launch. That's tea party material there! :-/

When I did, Padron Maduro 3000
  10. Spend a couple of days observing the fish to ascertain what they are eating. Grass carp are a notoriously hard species to catch. Most that are stocked are sterile and must be returned to the water ASAP.
  11. That's the thing, I haven't been limiting myself. Try throwing a Hud on a rod rated for 1.25 oz. It ain't pretty. ;D
  12. I can imagine. I got one whiff of the 3x strong baitfish and couldn't get it out of my nose for two days. ;D
  13. KY or Astro? ;D
  14. Oh, an Okuma 7'6 Med Hvy has been on my list for a while, just a matter of ordering it from TW. Casting with the Fenwick is an adventure, that much is certain. Luckily I've only backlashed one time. First time out with a Castaic, I tried using one of my catfish rigs (7' Quantum Bill Dance spinning combo). Casting wasn't bad, but after 30 minutes I was worn out.
  15. Google turns up zilch.
  16. Looks like a cross betweeen a Castaic Plat and a Hud.
  17. Emergency TP?
  18. I've been in every spot you show in the photos. The river below the lodge has some nice natural water slides. I used to have a ton of fun there as a kid. The second photo, is that in Fenwick? Just below the bridge and post office? If so, my grandparents used to live just behind that old bridge abutment. I spent many an evening dunking nightcrawlers off that thing. Caught my biggest rainbow off the rail bridge just upstream of that old bridge.
  19. Before...
  20. You need to eat more boy! ;D
  21. Mine do several card tricks. ;D T-rig weightless on a 3/0 offset shank hook.

Zoom plastic in watermelon/red Almost to the detriment of the perfection of other techniques. :-/
  23. Overhand? Sidearm? I've been using a rod that is more than a little underpowered for the size of baits I'm throwing (Fenwick Venture MH 7', max weight 1.25 oz). Rod loads well (what rod wouldn't load with a 4 oz. bait?), but I just can't get enough distance. Throwing a Castiac Platinum or Hud, the best I can get is about 25 yards. If I throw a lighter Yum Sweetcheeks I can get about 30-35 yards. On a related tangent, when you throw a swimbait, do you just let it splash down like a rock, or do you somehow control the entry of the bait to minimize surface disturbance?
