  1. justfishin beat me to it. Did you use any sort of line dressing (Reel Magic, other silicone spray, Tangle Free)? When filling a reel, I'll spray some silicone on a rag and use that rag to hold the line as it goes onto the spool. Or I'll give the spool a spray every 20 or so yards. As for pure floruo on spinning reels, I don't like using anything more than 8 lb. test. I've tried 10 and 12 flouro on spinning reels with poor results. 6 and 8 work quite well. Then again, most spinning reels aren't the best vehicle for large diameter lines.

  3. I've caught a ton of fish on a single colorado bladed spinnerbait. I can't say the same for a willow blade. In fact, despite fishing a willow blade a lot last year, I don't think I caught a single fish on one. I know the prevailing wisdom is to fish colorado (more vibration) in stained to muddy water and willow in clear water. Most of the lakes I fish are clear clear clear. Yet I kill them with that single colorado while the willow has yet to get me a bite. I figured out how to fix it a couple of months ago. I just bought 100 #5 hammered nickel colorado blades.
  4. The techniques RW listed will work anywhere. Many a fishing career has been started thanks to the original Rapala minnow. Just ask Mike Iaconelli.
  5. Marketing nonsense. The power generated by those small panels would do well to power electric nose hair trimmers.
  6. Couldn't have said it better jdw.
  7. That boat is begging for customization. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of my old jon. Then I climb into the drivers seat, fire up the motor, and go fast.
  8. I just filled two Stradics with Ultra-Soft #6, fished both last Wednesday. No problems whatsoever. I'd like to see a photo of the situation.
  9. You don't get out much, do ya Sam?
  10. Any interest in doing a league?
  11. I buy every single colorado blade Strike King 3/8 oz. spinnerbait I find in one certain color. Doesn't matter if the store has just one or 15 of them. I buy them all. That color has caught me a ton of fish over the last three years.
  12. Have fun. Hook up and drive till you find open water.

Or just do what I do and fish at work. Starting Sunday, I'll be fishing pretty much every day from 6 till dark. 8-)
  14. Aye, but the Nitro offers storage for longer rods. IMO that is the one shortcoming of the 176. That said, I like and dislike certain aspects of each boat. The front deck on the Nitro isn't long enough. The Nitro is capable of handling a larger OB (90 vs 75 for the Stratos). If I were buying, I'd opt for the Stratos with a 75.

  16. My LG does it in 32 seconds flat. Steams the bun and squirts the mustard too. Still haven't figured out how to get it to chop onions and make slaw though. :-/
  17. Check out the Garcia 1003LP at Wal Mart. I would put a little more faith in the Garcia name than the Pinnacle name. $40 for a Garcia ain't bad at all.
  18. Don't believe everything you get via email. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/cellphones.asp
  19. You can use muffs or a large container of water. Don't overdo it and don't run it for more than a few minutes.
  20. I know I'm starting to sound like RW, but I cannot plug them enough. They are quality batteries for a darn good price.
  21. It did lose a bit of steam. The last third was a bit anti-climactic.
  22. I'm no expert, but I would think that the aluminum boat would be much less of a headache in the long run.
  23. The fan runs all of the time. The high pitched squeal only happens when it is charging. I've actually been thinking of rigging mine up to leave in the boat most of the time as I charge in the boat in the summer.
  24. More like a curse. Do some checking on previous big money winners. Very very few have been able to handle the pressure of having so much money and so many people trying to get their hands on a portion of that money.
  25. 68* here yesterday. Felt nice to go out without a coat on. That warm weather makes me want to do three things. Fish, plant the garden, and mow the yard. Now if only the water would warm another 10 degrees.
