  1. Wal Mart will do whatever the trends tell them. If a store sells a lot of tackle, then they will not eliminate that moneymaker. Same goes for guns. While they are trying to change the direction of their stores (into a more Target-like model, exactly why is beyond me), they will not eliminate a department that is making money.
  2. Was the trip worth it? I've been lucky enough (knock on wood) to never have a day like that. I usually have my cameras with me, so I've been lucky. I'm just waiting for the tripod to fall off the back deck and dunk my camera.

The question is, can you dance Carmine?
  4. The way our club does it is that the non-boater pays all of the entry fees ($60). The boater must provide the non-boater a ride to the lake. Most NB's also chip in for gas, etc.
  5. So lemme get this straight...avid and muddy in the same vehicle? That's gotta be bad news.
  6. Swim 'em hop 'em flip 'em pop 'em drag 'em No way to fish a jig wrong. http://bassresource.com/fishing/features.html#lures There are a ton of articles on jig fishing (as well as all other techniques) at that link.
  7. When I clicked on this topic, I somewhat expected it to be a story of a night at the bar gone wrong.
  8. http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=37727&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=11&hvarSubCode=10&hvarTarget=browse It says that it holds 5 boxes, but I've been able to squeeze 7 (plus one 3600 in the front pocket) in mine.
  9. Before I got my SpeedCharge, I charged with a normal charger. I would set it to 10 amps and charge for 4-5 hours, then check with a multimeter.

I'll recommend anything that Creative Labs makes.
  11. If it's all you've got to spend, they are well worth it. Can't beat a $50-60 rod with a 5 year warranty.
  12. I have no real-world experience with either, but based on reel counter experience, the Curado 100D is a lot smoother than the Citica 100D. I don't think it is $80 smoother, but it is smoother.
  13. Wasting hooks? Any incomplete heads were cut from the hooks and the hooks were re-used. I poured at least 10 batches and by the time I poured that last batch the mold was too hot to touch. I'm going to get some (verified) pure lead and give it a try. I have to wonder if the material I was using wasn't made from wheel weights. Everything I have read indicates that hard lead will result in incomplete pours.
  14. BPS doesn't sell the Ultra Soft. I've only seen Hybrid in one (of three I've looked) BPS store.
  15. They are a fine battery. And I've never seen a battery that did not have the reserve capacity listed on it somewhere. My G29 MAXX has a reserve capacity of 205, CCA (not that it really matters) of 875. I don't know who makes the batteries now, but Exide used to make the WM brand.
  16. Any of the Wal Mart deep cycle batteries will be fine. I use two of their Group 27 MAXX deep cycles. As for a charger, I would recommend a 'smart' charger. I use a Schumacher Speedcharge. I think I paid around $65 for it. Ideally you want something that has a float setting. It will lengthen the life of your battery. This is the charger I use: http://store.schumachermart.com/sc-1200a.html It has settings for regular, deep cycle, and AGM batteries. It will also go into float mode once the battery is charged. When charging my deep cycle batteries, I use the 8 amp setting.
  17. We're going on a week of temps in the 50s/30s. Fri & Sat mornings were a little cool, but overall I'm quite happy with the weather. Now if the wind would just stop blowing enough to make hitting the lake feasible. At least the wind will help the water warm a bit.
  18. All I can say is that he's got a good wife. I just finished reading Ike's book and strain that his fishing put on his marriage (ultimately ending it) nearly caused him to stop tournament fishing. There was also a good feature on Steve Kennedy and his wife. They're the exact opposite as they travel together.
  19. A thousand and one apologies kind Flooger sir... Perhaps we can do a little pickin and grinnin. You do have a purty mouth.
  20. Anything to help an old fart mook realize his dream. All I ask is that you wash off the patchouli before you come into the house. Seriously, I couldn't be happier to help you guys out. Saves you a little money. And that is always a good thing when you're going on a fishing trip. When I went to TX in 02 for a hog hunting trip, my friends and I stayed with family and friends on the way down and back up. Made the trip a bit more fun and helped three young men save a little money.
  21. Not to go off topic, but the thing I really like about KVD is that he just goes about things so quietly.
  22. Gum or mints are also good choices. You need something to take your mind off the cravings. Heck, even sex works in a pinch.
  23. Contrary to his remarks, I doubt HotHead Swindle would be happy if someone went by him on plane at a distance of less than 20 yards. Heck, he was less than 10 feet from the camera boat.
