  1. What does this have to do with bass fishing? :-?
  2. Resolution and color should be your two concerns. At the $500 price point, I would suggest the Humminbird 778c. 640x640 resolution, 5" screen, color display.
  3. You like the Shimano VBS, yes? So why buy a reel with an inferior braking system? That linear magnetic brake is either on or off. There is no in-between. Perhaps the most useless braking system I've ever used. I spent 8 months trying to figure it out. Perhaps I'm just stupid. But I'm smart enough to engage two brakes on a Shimano and never have any trouble. :-/
  4. Crankbait, yes. Spinnerbait, no. At least not in my boat.
  5. That is no different than a regular spincast reel.
  6. The RAM B-111 or 111U should work. They both feature the same plate size, which I think is standard with the Lowrance units. The B-111 is a light-duty mount, the 111U a medium-duty.
  7. I may be wrong, but I think all Oakley lenses are polycarbonate. If scratch resistance is what you're looking for, look no further than the CDM glass lens (either the 400 or the 580). When I bought my CDM's, the salesman pulled a pair out of the case and ran a key across the lens. No scratches. That attribute was what put me over the top.
  8. They make a huge difference. Wish I hadn't sold mine. Guess I'll be buying another before winter.
  9. Does it have the usual rectangle Lowrance base? If so, the standard Lowrance RAM base will work.
  10. I'm gonna miss those 12:30 Jefferson Pilot/Lincoln Financial games. I saw a comprehensive college TV schedule a few weeks ago, the SEC is going to be on ESPN around 11:30 every Saturday. The less-than-appealing SEC games will be on the ESPN regional deal.
  11. I've got a Lodge cast iron skillet that is at least 20 years old and looks like new. My mom has a Lodge cast iron pan that she has been making cornbread with for over 30 years. Same stuff you can buy at WalMart. Lodge makes quality stuff.
  12. I don't know about your MIL, but your mom is quite the gal. La Crucet? La Crucet? ;D Get thee to a Wal Mart and buy a good Lodge. La Crucet...
  13. Yep, I lived on the stuff in HS and college. Mom would buy it by the case. I miss the original Pudding Pop. The newer version sucks.

    'fend themselves from poverty'? :-?
  15. Yup, a 9+ oz. reel that doesn't do anything the Curado won't do. The Chronarch is actually the Zillion's best selling point. ;D You're behind the times Keith. http://www.***.com/descpageRLCSHIMANO-SCHD.html

If you don't want it stolen, don't leave it in a vehicle.
  17. what advantage does the longer rod have? casting distance? or something more Increased casting distance translates into more time in the strike zone. Here's a rough diagram I made a few months ago illustrating the difference between a short cast and a long cast. You're doing yourself a disservice if you throw a true deep diver (>15') on a 7' rod.
  18. Some of us have seen photos of the bachelorette party, let's see some of the bachelor party.
  19. Oh my!
  20. If Lauren's name was Cassandra, it would be perfect.
  21. Trilene or Stren 100% flourocarbon 15 lb. test
  22. Curado E5 or a Fritts 4.7:1 combined with a Quantum KVD 7'10 or an American Rodsmiths 7'6. When it comes to DD22's (or any other true deep crankbait), the longer the rod the better.
  23. The X-rap isn't a crankbait. :-?
