The UNimportance of crankbait details
I believe some days fish activity is so high that it doesn't matter at all, but some days they do want a certain action or size. When I first started fishing with a new partner we went to a local lake and started working a large flat adjacent to creek channel. He was using a Poe's 300 and me a Bomber Fat Free shad both chartreuse w/blue back. Both of us side by side and running baits with same steady retrieve plowing bottom the whole time on 6.4:1 reels. He landed 3 fish in about 30min and me zero. After his third fish he looked at me smiling and handed me a Poe 300 and said don't be stubborn? I proceeded to catch several bass after that on same flat. I do agree I have way way too many crankbaits though?

A trailer on a spinnerbait or not?
No trailer for me but I will use a trailer hook if the cover allows.

Fast Vs X-Fast rods?
If that's the only 2 choices I'd pick the Medium. I will say as others that if your using a standard size Senko or Zoom super fluke you should be able to get decent distance now. If your using really heavy line or have brakes or tension knob turned up these will effect your casting distance. FWIW I use a M/XF for 3.5" swimbaits with 1/8oz heads and love it. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/guides/rodselection.html

When You Were A Kid....
I was blessed with a loving Grandfather that always took me fishing mostly crappie, catfish and bream since before I can remember. He rarely bass fished but when we deer hunted our relatives had cattle with several farm ponds stocked with bass and so began a life long obsession. My Grandfather always had Field&Stream and Outdoor Life magazines at his house along with watching all the old fishing shows with him. I still remember him setting up a trash can lid in backyard as a target and giving me my first Zebco 33 and showing me how to cast. I owe him everything for sure !!

What is your fishing vehicle ?

Listening to music while bass fishing
For over 20yrs I never listened to anything. Now I always listen to different podcast on my phone with or without earbuds. Fish don't seem to care but I'm not using a stereo built-in boat either, I imagine if I cranked up some AC/DC the fish would care ?

How many techniques did you start with?
Texas Rig was and is the most important and fun way for me to catch them.
-
shaky head
1- yes 2- I wouldn't, many better choices out there 3- depends on how soft and what it is 4- 3/16-1/4oz for me These heads have great standup and with a Zoom Trick worm have caught me many fish https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Megastrike_Shake2_EWG_Pro_Model_Shakey_Heads_4pk/descpage-MEGAEWG.html

Best Shakyhead jigs for zoom finesse worms?
These have the best standup of all the ones I've tried. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Megastrike_Shake2_EWG_Pro_Model_Shakey_Heads_4pk/descpage-MEGAEWG.html

School me on swim jigs!
I keep it pretty simple using Strike King swim jigs. Trailers: Havoc Grass Pig with 3/4-1" trimmed off head when trying to mimic shad. Rage Twin Tail Menace rigged with tails vertical when trying to mimic perch or bluegill. I only throw Swim Jigs when water clarity is more than 3' and use a steady retrieve with a few jerks or pauses on way back. I fish them in areas same as I would a spinnerbait or rattletrap as long as the water clarity is there.

Exactly what I do

What would you choose? Lews
If you need to build up inventory for more combos or replace some older reels, I'd choose 3 of the later. I've got a Tournament Pro and Speed Spool LFS. What plans do you have for them?
-
Those White Rods
Lews is another company that has some white in line up, got one of their cranking sticks. Regarding Duckett I've seen more than one in past being broken by a "pro" on TV ??
-
More versatile spinning rod
Same here. If I could only have one spinning rod that's it.

Sportsman's Outfitters
Good company and prices

Upgrading drop shot set-up
I've got two Pflueger Supreme and they have been great. Also own two Abu Revo SX and a Orra SX. I will never purchase another Abu spinning reel again?

Dick's Sporting Goods rod shipping/packaging method
Last year during sale I ordered three rods from Dicks, all different manufactures. Two came together in same box as you described in long, bent, flimsy box with no packing. The other shipped straight from Abu in proper tube. I took the two back to local store and told manager he can forget it so they refunded my money. No way I was going to accept rods that came shipped that way.

Favorite Rod Manufacturer
I own several rods from different companies but I prefer my Loomis GLX and Diawa Zillions the most. I do enjoy trying rods from different companies cause you never know till you do. I would love to own a NRX, Zbone, Steez but it's all about that $$$ ??

As a lefty if I get a right hand reel is there any reason I need to switch hands after casts?
I'm left handed and when using my baitcasters I always cast with my left and keep the reel in that hand during the retrieve. Crazy thing is when growing up I learned to cast a spinning rod and fly rod with my right hand and leave it there while retrieving which I still do when using them??
-
Spool getting low
I do same with my baitcasters, use cheap Big Game mono for backer that way I can add 1/2 spool(100yds)of Sunline Sniper to top off. Really helps offset cost per reel.
-
Topwater Rod Showdown!!!
That's a great price I'm sure you will like it. For the larger baits I use an older Bass Pro Shop Graphite Series MH it's listed as a fast action but its more of a moderate fast to me
-
Anyone Superstitious?
Nope and I've caught a lot of bass on Sunday??
-
Topwater Rod Showdown!!!
I've got 2 of the 2018 Tatula TTU701MRB and it really shines throwing 1/2oz baits. I mainly throw Sammy 100 and Sexy dawg jr on it. The other I use for KVD 1.5's. It's rated to 1oz but I think its pushing rod to much so I don't throw large Spooks or the bigger Sexy Dawg on it. FWIW I don't use braid

Hatin' on smallmouth
Minnesota is all about their walleye, that's why this is my second Summer in a row catching bass here??. We just spent 2 months around central MN for largemouth and now in northern MN through Fall for smallmouth.
