If you are setting the hook hard enough to break that rod with a small plastic swimbait, you are doing something seriously wrong or the blank is compromised. I agree with jrob.

Spro are good to fish straight from package. Small body but dives deceptively deep.

Lay braid on spool and put electrical tape over it. Tape wont allow the braid to spin on spool and lets your line lay more evenly than if you had a knot.

Ive been using poor boy baits tubes. Soft and salty. Went to replace one with a zoom one and took it off immediately. I had difficulty sliding it up the shank of my ewg so I knew Id have difficulty getting solid hooksets.

My daiwa t3 1016 is heads and shoulders above my tatula. Easier to palm, lighter, spool can throw light baits, skipping is easier, and braking system is phenomenal. Tatula is a solid real I use a lot...but that extra coin reduces headaches/frustration.

Reel size dictates overall weight of combo and inches per turn. A larger heavier reel can dull some sensitivity and be unbalanced when paired with a light fairy wand. I use a 2500 on a ML rod.

Amart "despises" the dropshot... ...but even the best baseball players know how to bunt and sac fly. The key is balancing all of your tackle from rod to sinker. A 3/8oz weight on a ml rod with 15lb braid and 10 inch ribbontail will not be efficient. The dropshot is not a search bait (an efficient method itself) so you have to create efficiency with balanced tackle. My go to is a ML rod, 2500 reel, 20lb braid +8lb fc leader. Size one swivel hook reduces line twist with a 4 inch roboworm above 3/16 weight. Easy casting and makes little disturbance going in water. If I use a larger plastic like a stick bait ill go with 1/4oz to get it to bottom faster...im not worried about hits on the fall, if thats what the bass want Ill use a different presentation
