  1. Figures as soon as I count myself into any competition, the 20-inchers disappear.. Had a great quantity day tho w/ lotsa 1 pounders topped off with these two guys (hopefully the females will come later): 15.5" (hopefully you can make it out in the pic but interpolate if necessary) 16" Cheers. Also I hav to keep resize these files to get them under the size to upload.. how do u guys get your pics uploaded.. do u have to cut them down in size or do u have a trick?
  2. There is a reason a spinning reel is generally used for ultralight..
  3. Ill take what I am given.. sunup or sundown if I am available. Noon if thats all there is..
  4. Yer fishin in 100+ degree weather during the hottest parts of the day in a lake with the word canyon in it.. it must be deep. The bass may be deep and summer mid-day they are probably suspended. Thats a tough task calling for patient finesse fishin'.
  5. I use a telescoping flipping stick for shore fishing. Long casts and the two sections collapse into a shorter stick for moving around.
  6. Looks like triangle is about shallow-deep water access but theres more to it I'm sure. The man and his crew are certainly knowledgeable..
  7. Looks like a little spot to me..love spots.. beautiful fish
  8. If you mean catch the state record fish.. uh.. not yet
  9. Its the metal retractable measuring tape from a berkley scale.. can I use that or no
  10. Obviously the competition is fierce here..hopefully I will be able to cull this one out later.. Stopped by a nearby waterway and picked up this 16" loverboy I didn't see her coming in with him but his big girlfriend was there to pick him up when i let him back in the lake and the two swam away together! I wish I wouldve caught her instead as she was much bigger! Fish love.. must have been spawning or something..kinda touches my heart
  11. Mono is going to cast farther.. braid is not a smooth strand and there is friction when the line goes out.. to minimize braids friction you need to go as small diameter as you can tolerate.. problem is the smaller diameters eat into the line spool.. well so as with all things.. tradeoffs
  12. Sounds pretty fancy but you can learn lots about catchin fish here at bassresource and from tips from pros like KVD which dont cost you a dime and will boat you fish. Learn structure fishing.. Ill bet thats what this triangle methods is based on..when bass move into shallows from deeper water access areas.
  13. Use reconfigured Bomber spinnerbaits bought from Walmart on the cheap. Been haulin in fish and not had one break yet..
  14. If we're not talkin thick mats up top, X2 on the topwater frogs Depending on how thick the stuff is, even a weedless swimbait would draw frustration.
  15. I fish northern strain and its not slow at all after storms for me.. in fact Im gonna stop by the lake tomorrow after todays storms having checked the weather and marked the day after the storm forecast. I did not know that about Florida strain.. where did you get that info? If so, learnin' somethin new every day..
  16. well then its definitely the larger shallow flats for me.. bass spawn usually less than 10' so they must be happily frolicking in those areas right now.. since yer kayaking I'd start at the largest flat out of the feeder creek
  17. Cant read the depth lines but this time of the year I'd be on the spawning flats esp. given our late spring which look to me to be the largest flat on this lake fed by the Marsh Creek feeder creek. I also might try the only extensive flat near the dam which has easy access to deeper water as well. All 3 of the northern arms look promising.. cant read the text but looks like the wildlife dept looks like also installed structures benefiting spawn in certain ar Depending on where the fish are at, they could be at different stages of spawning in either of those areas. Best of luck.
  18. Yep just before is great as well when you smell the rain comin in.. its a great feeling to be alive when you sniff that rain comin in! As long as theres no lightning.. its all good!
  19. Depends.. based on my experience its largely a myth along with the drop in fishing w/ high pressure. I've caught lots of large ones post frontal. The depends is when and if water temperatures drop 7-10 degrees.. then I'm going home..but you wont know til u get there.. and I love fishin when the front is moving thru as well during the storm! Notice the rain on the surface of the lake (picture to the left)?
  20. I dont like buzzbaits but I'm gonna modify my terminator to be more like the cavitron and give it a shot..
  21. finesse is fishing subtly.. please dont eat me Mr bass but here I am wink wink tease tease shakin my booties .. subtle requires a bit of slowing down whereas power is fishing obnoxiously here I am eat me or I am leaving
  22. So much of our modern lives are so "un-natural" .. fishing just seems to restore some of that.. Get out as much as you can..
  23. Rest of the year I am smoking them myself but this time of year, I put them cigars on the water and let the bass get smoked!
  24. Kind of defeats the purpose of catch and release if you are gonna rig up and send it out as bait. ..and the lil guys caught aren't even legal size.
  25. Though I am at times surprised by bass, I am not surprised by the behavior of fellow men nowadays. I deal with people in environments where power and money are involved.. and it does not bring out the best.
