Yeah you're unfortunately totally correct. Environmental extremism rules California, not common sense, not science, and not liberty. This is the same state trying to control cows burping and farting. Other liberal states such as Colorado, Washington, and Oregon have also proved they don't care about science or recreational angling as well. Yep, again you are sadly correct. California is basically a dictatorship run by environmentalists and uber libs, where logic and facts are foreign concepts, let alone the freedom and liberty the USA is supposed to have.

But why remove them at all when no real science links bass to salmon declines? There is a plethora of science that shows nonnative fish aren't the cause of the declines. Why undertake such a horribly expensive and unpopular undertaking that won't work? They've been killing sportfish for years in Colorado and Utah, and it hasn't helped native rough fish. It's disgusting they think they can do this, must kill regulations aren't even enforceable and could lead to nasty confrontations. But again, they don't care about us or about we the people in general. They are morally bankrupt. The best course of action we can take is as follows: 1. Flood President Trump with hand written letters about this. 2. Flood the California Fish And Game with hand written letters asking them not to let this move forward, since they have the final say on management. Whoever wants to help me, send me a PM here and we'll jump all over it.

Do they actually kill the fish here or have they just removed the bag limits? With as massive as the Cal Delta is and The Columbia is, I doubt they would be able to reduce the population that much, but they can do some damage. This management started in my state in the late 1990s. We have a world class smallmouth bass and pike fishery in the Yampa River, which is far smaller than the Columbia and is several times smaller than the Sacramento. They have been killing fish in it in favor of native suckers, chubs, and squawfish for two decades. The fishery in the Yampa hasn't declined all that much actually. Mechanical removal is VERY ineffective long term. And the fish they are trying to recover have NOT recovered. What this is, is a matter of water users and environmentalists teeming up together to place the blame on introduced sportfish rather than dams and diversions. Both groups have huge pockets, and bully anglers. It is true, lawmakers DON'T CARE about recreational fishing and sportsmen. A shame to see other states taking after corrupt Colorado, the first state to do this on a large scale. It has spread to our lakes even now, and if not stopped, they will spread this management to other lakes and rivers in California.

This type of killing occurs in my home state of Colorado and has for nearly 20 years because they wrongly blame bass and other sportfish for the decline of chubs, suckers and squawfish. To do it however, the state must approve it. So for the federal government to kill any fish, the State Of California must sign off. They probably will though.

I like a 5 ratio for most all crank applications. Throwing shallow runners and squarebills on a 6 ratio works well too though, but anything running over 6' or so needs a slow reel IMO. I can always speed up on a slow reel, it's hard to slow down enough sometimes with a faster one.

I'm another proponent of using braid with a fluoro leader for jerkbaits, with spinning gear. I use it primarily for smaller jerkbaits though, like an X Rap 8, Dynamic J Spec, and Pointer 78. For the 100 sizes of pointers, or pretty much any jerkbait 4" or over, I use 10 pound fluoro on casting gear.

I have a Curado 200E5, and the Curado200IPG. Both are the best baitcasting reels I have. The E gets a slide nod though. I plan on adding another I this winter.

I go to a more subtle trailer, like a Zoom Super Chunk, Culprit DW2 chunk, or the like. Pork is great in cold water too. I really am a big believer in less action for colder water. In October early this year I was catching the heck of out them with Rage Chunks as a Trailer, but that stopped in late October and early November. Once I switched to a Zoom Super Chunk, which is more of a gliding action than a rage chunk but will wave a little bit with your jig on the bottom, I started catching just as many jig fish again. Transition seemed to start when the water fell below 60 in early November.

The Stacee and the LC Pointer XD are your best options, and the Spro McRip is good too, but it's not really for an erratic, jerking action.

Mead is almost impossible from shore right now with how low it is. I would recommend Havasu, or Sand Hollow in St. George Utah, about 1.5 hours from Vegas.

Veritas 7'6" MH frog model for frogs and works okay for punching. If you want a rod to do both, go with a Veritas, Falcon Bucoo, or *** in a 7' H. I'd get a Shimano Casitas, BPS PQ, or Lew's Speed Spool for a reel under $130 and spool it with 65 pound power pro. If you can find a Citica or Curado on sale for $130, they are even better.

Yeah to spend what I have now it would have to be an incredible local deal, similar to yours. The 86' ranger I passed up looked a little beat up and needed some electrical work. I offered 4500 for it but he would only take 5500.

Is your ranger 482 a fiberglass? That's pretty much a must for me due to smoother ride, more storage area, and bigger outboard. Brand new a fully tricked out Ranger 22' 250 hp can cost you $85,000. Bare bones it's still close to $65,000. Same size Nitro fully tricked is $52,000 and an 18' Nitro under $30,000, and while Rangers are definitely better boats the newer Nitros are almost always very good boats from what people tell me.

Quarter ounce mostly, because I like a slow fall and usually throw jigs in 17 feet or less. For football jigs I use 1/2 or 3/4 depending on depth. Every other application is a 3/8 ounce jig, which is not that often, say when short hopping or crawling in 15 - 25 feet of water, though if I'm crawling at the upper end of that depth range I usually use a 1/2 ounce football head, since I don't use any line heavier than 17 pound fluoro for jigs and creatures unless punching, which I prefer 65 pound braid. In thick timber 20 pound fluoro and a 3/8 ounce is the way to go unless you're under 12 feet of water.

The only time I don't use them is in heavy grass. I only occasionally have bass short strike spinnerbaits, but in most situations it's worth using a trailer for the other 20% of strikes because one of them could be a toad.

You don't need light for any bass applications. Medium light is great for Ned Rigs, drop shotting, and tiny balsa cranks, but a medium will throw those just fine too. Half my bass rods are MH.

I really love an old school glass rod for cranks and topwaters except for frogs. I broke both of mine after about 10 plus years of use. I use composite rods of both glass and graphite in medium or medium heavy powers. I can say that the more expensive composite rods are more sensitive and lighter than glass rods that run under $80. My current crank rods are two BPS 7' Crankin Sticks, one in Medium and the other in Medium heavy. My other two are a halo MH 7'11" crank rod, and a Veritas Winch 7' Medium model for topwaters and buzzbaits in sparse cover. All four are great rods, the Veritas probably the best of the four.

I've got about 5000 saved up in my bass boat fund. I'm looking for a minimum 18' and minimum 150 hp motor. Can you find anything decent in this price range? I did recently pass up on an '86 ranger that was 18'8" with a 150 that was 5500 bucks. Or would I be better off saving up a couple more thousand, getting a 4000 or so loan, and buying something in the 10,000 to 14,000 range?

How good is this stuff in your opinions? I use original stren generously lubed with KVD Line and Lure and it's both strong and very limp for my mono applications. Is the McCoy much better? It's about the same price.
