  1. Anyone used Sworming Hornet Drop Shot heads? Saw them on sale and wondered "Why?" If a drop shot has, by definition, a bottom contact weight below the bait...why would I want an almost a half ounce of lead at the plastic?
  2. done....but that is a bit curious
  3. Looks like NJ is the place to be for fishing flea markets....
  4. Dave, I assume that you'll be at Dale FD again this year? Hope to meet you this time. I'm committed to getting there before noon
  5. Certainly, it is well established that the lateral line allows bass to sense vibration in the water. It is less well established what a bass might see on a dark night. Even at my advanced age with crappy night vision, I am always surprised at how well I can see after an hour or two outside on a moonless night....so, I wouldn't be surprised if their eyes serve them well on even the darkest nights.
  6. Do many of you typically texpose the plastic when drop shotting? I rarely do, because I have very little confidence in hooking up drop shot without exposed hook point. However, I've read a fair amount lately suggesting it. I take my chances with the timber, but wonder if I should be less worried about hook setting and hide the point.
  7. Been fishing through my grandfather's and father's tackle boxes and now am the proud owner of a few spoonplugs. Not sure of their design depths, but I suppose I'll give them a troll this year.
  8. Multiple sources predicting we'll see $20 long before we see $40 again. Strong dollar and continually weakening yuan are as much to blame as global supply.
  9. About this time last year, I got some GREAT deals at the local DSG (St Croix Rage rod and Quantum Smoke reel less than $80/ea, as well as other stuff.) Stopped by there on Sun and found absolutely nothing that interested me. I'll drop by again in coming days, because they used to spread their clearance stuff around to different stores at 'random' times in Jan, but I'm not too optimistic.
  10. IDK.....for a couple/few years, Brad Johnson was nearly elite. Besides, like, Dilfer, he was on a team with one of the greatest defenses of the decade. Lots of folks might argue that Eli and Brady are elite. (My personal opinions of Eli, aside, he's had a few pretty good moments....maybe even elite.)
  11. One Lure to rule them all, One Lure to find them, One Lure to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
  12. That was helpful. Thanks. Couple/few links would be 'useful', also
  13. Great idea. Thanks, Glenn. Searching for three letter words is recipe for frustration, so this is a big help.
  14. Original packages. Groups of 'like items' (stick worms; finesse; paddletail swimmers; beavers; trailers) into one-gallon ziploc bags. Then all into a backpack. Has made my plastic life MUCH better since I went to this system.
  15. I should have put a disclaimer in my pessimistic reply. I'm a Green Bay fan. We've had only one season in the last 23 years or so when we needed a backup....so I'm not really qualified to even have an opinion
  16. After working my one year old kayak pretty hard these past 12 months, the keel is a little banged up. I've not been very gentle pulling it up onto ramps; mud, gravel or even concrete. I have to think that the little shredding occurring on the keel will affect dynamics in the water, if even just a little bit. Does anyone use any sort of tape or keel guard material on your yak? What about waxing the hull? Works for skis, right? Also, what do you use to clean/protect? I read that 303 is good stuff, but haven't been able to pull the trigger on the $24 bottle in my Amazon wish list. What do you do to protect your hull?
  17. Improved clinch almost exclusively.
  18. I suppose if it were easy to get an offense to gel around a QB - his timing, his cadence, his dropback, his audibles, his playcalling, his personality idiosyncrasies, his vision.....leverage his strengths and compensate for his weaknesses.....then why not swap in a clone? What QB that sees himself as capable of starting is going to be content to sit 50% of the time? Find me a GB fan who will embrace the idea sitting Rodgers for even one meaningful series in order to keep another QB 'fresh'. No chance a fan base will support going after two less-than-top-tier QB's ....as opposed to finding the next Brady or Manning. If winning the SB isn't the only thing my team's GM is after, I have little patience for him....and for every 'Flacco', there's 8 or 10 Montana-Favre-Marinos. 2 QB systems don't even work well at other levels. I have little confidence it can succeed on an NFL team.
  19. Not at all sure how you're ever going to prevent tournament anglers from talking to anyone familiar with upcoming water. How about removing ALL electronics from the boats?
  20. Just when I thought I'd narrowed down my list for my kayak, Lowrance comes along and, in the process of 'simplifying' things, has added another one to choose from. I can't seem to understand what is being sacrificed in the name of 'getting back to the basics'. Anyone have any knowledge or impressions of these and maybe compare to Elite or Mark units?
  21. I generally toss all but smallest and largest cranks on 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid.
  22. He shipped it? And you haven't agreed to pay the difference, but he assumed you would? Truly sounds like a bonehead. I'd refuse the shipment if he won't accept the $90. Save copy of your communications in case you have to rebut bad feedback. Anyone who does much auction business will get negs occasionally. Don't sweat it. Smarter shoppers and sellers will read the feedback AND the rebuttal info.
  23. 1. If you were willing to bid up to (new) total, I'd politely disagree and then go ahead and pay them....IF it appears to have been a beginner seller's honest mistake Or, 2. If you weren't willing to go that high, politely chastise the seller, move on and keep shopping. Sure, you could be tough and try to get them to stick to the agreed upon deal, but I'd only do that if they cop an attitude or I felt they were gaming the auction and trying to screw me. Added..... Ignore my last. I assumed a smaller auction site and inexperienced seller..... No question about how to proceed if its ebay
