I think there may be a difference between the pool playing and the fishing. If only because it probably takes the pool player about 30 seconds to thoroughly understand the locals' table and hall peculiarities. The pro fisherman probably isn't going to get to know the locals' waters as well as the locals do after a day of fishing. That said, I do think that on any given day...... But on 99.5% of the other days, KVD kicks ANY non pro's butt....anywhere.

I was seriously considering a peddle/drive type. I decided to defer that cost for my first kayak until I was sure this was something I want to do. Turns out I'm quite happy in my Wilderness Tarpon. There are times, no doubt, that I'd like the peddles. However, there are also a LOT of time that I'm drifting into inches of water or across weeds at, or nearly at, the surface and I think the peddle-type would have been a huge drawback. I can't count the times that I paddled through thick hydrilla, millfoil and spatterdock to areas that I probably couldn't have with peddles.

I got Thule Glide and Set. Pretty pricey, but I got new off ebay for $100 (and crossbars for another $75.) The Thule set is pretty pricey, no question. However, it was definitely worth it to me. They go on (or come off) in a couple minutes. They came with two cross over straps and ratcheting bow and stern lines with hooks. I don't use the bow and stern lines for short, non-highway trips.

I've been throwing Power Team tubes and they are VERY durable. Bonus: my car smells like hog tonic!

Absolutely. I've used shakey heads a lot more this year than in years past and love the versatility and weedlessness. They work for larger swimmers, too. Not necessarily dead-sticking, but some, like Megastrike and Owner swim surprisingly well. Just allows for dead or twitch or jump or swim...good action and not getting hung much.

Is it possible? Certainly. Why wouldn't it be? And yet, you have a spinning rod and must think it'd be a better choice.....what's the real question? Regardless of the real question, if you're going to throw ned, and only ned, all day, why wouldn't you rig it up on every lighter rig that you have? You are going to lose some. May as well be ready to get another one wet right away if you aren't going to use anything else and you have lighter tackle. Are you limiting yourself to just one rod for the entire day?

I suppose I should have been clearer in my support of earlier comment. I wasn't considering 'balance' in the Physics 101 sense so much as in the sense of balanced in proportion and feel. Handling a rod and reel with appropriately weighted lure makes perfectly good sense. I am unlikely to be casting a spinning rod very much without something tied to the line. Unless you're drop-shotting, the rod is also important for putting that lure where you want it. The feel with a lure isn't unimportant to me.

MUCH easier question to answer would be "What went right?" Nothing Atrocious in every aspect of the game. Rodgers was, IMO, playing scared. Scared he might throw an interception. Scared of Den D beating him into the turf. Scared his O Line didn't show up. Scared enough not to be able to read D and audible (or too noisy, perhaps?) At no point before last night did I think I should be concerned about having two games against the Vikings still left to play.

Haven't been out there for the last few weeks. I've scattered my lures lately; Yorktown, Front Royal and Occoquan River most recently. BTW, had a great day from kayak on the O River on Sunday. As long as its producing, I'll likely be on the river more than the rez.

I think there's some confusion about what's affecting visibility (for us and for the bass.) If I'm not mistaken, the OP is referring to how the angle of refraction affects what the bass may or may not perceive. Not clarity, reflection, amount of light (incident illumination), surface disturbance, etc. All those can be quite variable even in same body of water. The angle of refraction is mathematically defined and will pretty much only be affected by waves, etc. So, if its determined to have any significance, its nice to be able to remove one of the variables...especially a rather fixed one.

One other thing I got and love: Cell phone 'dry bag'. Picked mine up off of ebay from China. Got 3 of them for under $4 shipped. Wanted to check them out before I bought the $30 model at Dicks or REI. Took about 3 weeks to receive them, but they've been awesome. Not one leak or tear yet. Not a lot of news out there yet. Apparently happened not at dawn or dusk, but in broad daylight at 11 AM. One article said he was returning from fishing with family....walked to get his vehicle and interrupted a 'crime in progress'. Sad and senseless indeed.

Spent about 5 hours out fishing with it on Sunday. The front seems a bit bulky at first, but after about 5 seconds I didn't notice it again. The tradeoff for moving some padding from the back is huge. My old PFD caused my back to sweat get heat rash through the summer. This is a huge improvement. Best $60 I've spent on fishing gear in some time. BTW, I was a bit concerned also about sizing since I figured I was on the edge between the two. So, I got the Unisize, fully adjustable. It is perfect.

Clayton, deak's comment is a little harsh, but please take a moment and try to objectively read your OP. I've been in the position of hiring managers and promoting to management. I recognize that this is 'just a forum'...and you're blowing off steam, etc. However, if your post gives even the slightest hint at your communications skills, I might be willing to defend the GM's preference for minimum education level(s). Leadership skills are generally more important than command of English -- however, anyone desiring to be 'management' in most companies is probably going to need both.

Performed a string-yank this weekend. Worked perfectly. My wife barely felt the 'yank' at all.

Kevin, I have fished from Front Royal to Williamsburg to here in Woodbridge the last 10 days. I don't know about your specific water, but I'll tell you that I've caught bass in every one of those waters on lipless cranks lately. Give 'em a try, if you haven't recently.

This has been my first year with mine and I've had it out a LOT. Maybe lucky, but most of my purchases, add-ons have been perfect. Yak came with a rod holder, light/flag, paddle, and a few tracks with balls. -Already had a PFD, so first was a crate - saw a pile behind Dunkin Donuts and asked if they cared if I grabbed two of them, they said, "Sure - take 'em". -Got a 3-rod holder from Gander and zip tied it to the crate -- perfect -Used a large 360 Plano box and Bassmaster bag for tackle. I can reach the box from the crate easily and I keep plastics and tools in the bag in the compartment right in front of me. -Bought Yak gear deluxe anchor trolley and a 3lb anchor. Easy to install (which is saying a lot for me, since I'm ill-equipped for tools I love it. Use it a lot. -Bought a hand paddle. I don't use it as much as I thought I would, so I'd say you can do without... -Bought new PFD last week on sale from Austin - Strolquist Fisherman High-Back for $60. See if they're still there and on sale! I love it. -Bought a six foot stake, but I am not happy with that yet -- too expensive and too short. I suggest trying a couple or making your own before dumping cash on a stick
