No reasonably priced bass boats?
I didn't realize I was in the market, but found out that I am. So...new to the hunt, I also didn't know about the chaos. ...so if a 2018 boat with 10 hours on the motor fell into my lap at 3 grand below NADA.....I maybe should stop procrastinating?

Crank bait, jerk bait help
I typically have 12# fluoro on main cranking rod; 10# flouro on light cranking rod; 20#braid to 10#fluoro leader on jerkbait rod; 8# fluoro on really light (spinning) crank/jerk rod. But I reserve the right to throw any on 8 or 10 # YZH....unless I'm throwing deep cranks which might be with 12#YZH.....all subject to change and further experimentation

Crank bait, jerk bait help
It's a good question, but not easily answered. Start with manufacturer's specs. Then adjust for line type and any hardware changes. Helps I'd you know the depth you are working. This thread won't really answer your question, but will go a ways towards making you a better crankbait angler

Looking for the smallest kayak boat that you can stand up.
I think your budget, age, frame, gracefulness....are all important factors that need to be considered. I have a 34" wide, 12' kayak, but I don't stand in it....then again, I am old and the opposite of nimble. Please go to a shop and put your hands on some different yaks. Put them on the floor and sit....stand...get a sense for the differences. Better yet, shops may restart demo days this year.

Top 3 Baits Throwing Right Now

What colors do bass see?
The article is ok. The study report, I found fascinating. It appears the study was well done and could go a ways towards answering the interpreting, comprehending, acting part. It acknowledges that the different natural ecosystem variables couldn't all be accounted for. But they seem to have done a pretty good job of removing variables for scientific analysis.

Crawfishing VA
Fish bait: minnows and chubs (Cyprinidae), salamanders (less than 6 inches), crayfish, and hellgrammites—50 in aggregate (all species combined) unless said person has purchased fish bait and has a receipt speci- fying the number of individuals purchased by species. Note: Madtoms, crayfish, and salamanders cannot be bought or sold. https://dwr.virginia.gov/fishing/regulations/nongame/ That's all I see. If you have more questions, I'd call DWR. They're pretty good in my experience.

A good fluorocarbon to start out
May not help your fishing ultimately, but it will simplify choices and options for you if you put that 25 on a 2000 size spinning reel. My prediction is that you won't ask about fluoro for another 5 years.

The, "Line-Shy" debate
Until you ask one...and receive a reply....I'm going with....don't know....don't care

Bladed Jigs
I suspect that I does matter ...to him. Probably to zman, also. Any examples of zman going after anyone for patent infringement when only for personal use?....might be, but that seems it would be an extraordinary waste of time and money

What bait/lure or technique do you struggle with the most?
Carolina rig. And it bugs me every summer. It is easily the most common technique taking big summer bags on my home lake. I think I had a bite on one....once.

Trevor Lawrence
I can't be the only one ..... every time I see him.... I hear "All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine."

Replacing rod tip- Abu Garcia Vendetta
I only ever bought tip kits that had three different sizes included. I use the one that fits best. And, at least once I used one that was too big, but it works fine going on maybe 4 years....looks funny, but works great

Once again...
Probably a good weekend to skip regardless of the weather. I lost count of the number of tournaments happening on lower Potomac this weekend. Gonna be a madhouse

How do you work a wacky rig?
- Are Bass Color Blind?
I don't know. But I would be immensely amused if you could prove it- Best baitcast reels?
- Magic Baits Over The Years
I have not caught a bass on half of those.- Once again...
Posted before I knew just how bad it is right now....good thoughts sent for those in the worst of that today...stay safe- Once again...
Post old front weekend commisseration thread....seems like most every week. Had this weekend circled on the calendar for a while. But back end of full moon spawn and a major front....should be interesting this weekend- I went fishing today!
How many did you see them catch?- Any difference between cheap spinning combos?
I was going to suggest the same. If the rod is anything like the Avocet from years ago, it is a surprisingly sensitive and durable rod. Amazon has them for similar price.- Buying my first high quality rod.....need some advice
I won't help with specific rods here. However, if you can't get to a decent sporting goods store and handle some...or better yet, try a friend's....then I suggest not buying three of a brand at once. Buy one at a time. If you love it, get another from that brand or line...if you don't, you have opportunity to try something different- Bull run/ Northen Va Tournament
I think Fountainhead Bass Club is probably your best bet. I know Slay Nation held one on the rez last year, but not sure if they are doing more in NOVA this year. There is a group that fishes out of Pohick on Wednesday evenings, but I'm not familiar with them. Glitter boats, mostly, but you can probably be competitive most nights without leaving Gunston Cove There are probably a half dozen FB groups that you'd get better answers than from me here on BR- Fluoro leader issues: change knots or change leader?
And THAT'S when the argument started....lol - Are Bass Color Blind?
