I think the important point has been overlooked by most except for @Angry John. Braid really isn't expensive. Might seem like it at first. But the life expectancy of a spool of braid is generally much longer than other lines. So in the long run, it can be much cheaper.

I have used 40# braid on my 3/8 oz chatterbaits for the last 3 years. I tried fluoro a few weeks ago and hated it.

I am curious to know what weights they are throwing on 20# fluoro. I've just started using heavier bladed jigs...it is certainly different than swimming a 3/8 across the top of hydrilla.

Get a pair of jaw spreaders, too. I always carry both. Sometimes it takes grips, spreaders and pliers to get a big bowfin or snakehead off without inviting them into my kayak.

I tend to live or die by the chatterbait. I don't think I've caught more than three fish intentionally swimming a jig. However I intend to work on that this year....in fact, I found these in a TW box I just opened

Those sub $10 scales are great. I used them for years. But, they aren't particularly weather-proof. I yak fish in all-weather and the scales took a beating. If you also need some fish grips, try the KastKing grip/scale combo....around $30 for good grips and accurate, water-proof scale.

Ha! I, too am amazed at the 'information' spread. I often recall the line about why lizard lures are good in the spring....because bass get mad at them for raiding the beds. Some guy thought he was smart and that line spread like wildfire as 'fact' for decades.

Haven't met a bass that said size of my sinker matters. Physics and other mumbo-jumbo aside....I base choice of weight for Texas rig a little different. Probably due to my lack of experience relative to @Catt, for example, my confidence sweet spot is more on the bottom bite than the 'fall bite'. I recognize that ROF is important, but usually for me, bottom and cover/structure feedback is most important to me. It doesn't take a whole lot of wind or current for me to almost disregard ROF. I want a weight that comes through wood (or vegetation) fairly cleanly, and gives me information about what is going on down there. Often that means 3/16 tungsten....but sometimes it means 1/16 lead...or 5/8 tungsten

I use both spinning and baitcaster. I can typically skip farther with spinning. But I am far more accurate with a baitcaster...it isn't close. I probably should commit to one and get better at accuracy with spinning or distance with baitcaster....but I am still uncertain which way I'm headed.

I have been working on my dock game for last couple years. I often feel like I've come a long ways....but even more often feel like I'm leaving a lot of fish. If you have gotten to where you feel fairly proficient at skipping Senkos under docks, I'd like to hear your specific gear choices: Spinning or casting? Rod length?.. What line have you found works best? Wacky or Texas Rig? Do you try to pendulum to base of a particular piling? Or generally try to get the Senko to bottom beyond a piling and work it back into the base? Any good tips not commonly discussed?

If a Texas rigged Senko was always THE best presentation, most of us would probably be crappie or catfish fishermen. Sure we all make it more complex than it needs to be at times....but whether we admit it or not, the complexity and variability are a big part of what draws us to bass fishing.

As to the question....I could probably be happy with only Rage Tail and Yamamoto. I have pounds of others to work through, mostly Robo, Reins, Zoom, Culprit, others. For worms, I plan to try to keep it simple....mostly....limited size, shapes, colors. One thing I plan like to do different this year is experiment with small accent colors. Maybe I've watched too of the pros this winter. But a dip here or a Spike It mark there...a bit of contrast to see whether I can tell any difference in catch rates
