  1. I say try two things: 1. Keep using leader, but move up to 10#. I love Invisx, but I don't think 8 is sufficient for a decent senko hookset...or at least not more than one in a row...right after re-tie....drop shot, sure. 2. Change the terminal knot. I am not sure I'd be comfortable with a 5-wrap knot with 8# test. More wraps, or better yet, try 6 wrap San Diego Jam.
  2. Looks funny to me, but apparently bass like to eat four-eyed baitfish
  3. This. But....this question is best answered by yourself, imo. Depending on your gear, and your tackle, and your style....you will learn your own preferences before too long, by mixing up jigs and trigs and various weights. Doesn't take a huge investment, either. Besides, medium to medium heavy cover means different things to each of us. Work a trig and a jig through a complex laydown, while paying extremely focused attention, and you will develop your own preferences quickly
  4. This is almost as important as anything else you did ....besides safety and a good attitude. One of my top goals each tourny day is to fish clean.....I'm working on the PMA, but the reality is that missed/lost fish can start a nasty downward spiral on tournament day
  5. ^Yes! So, @livemusic, think of all the babies you ate saving!
  6. I'm old and I fish from a kayak...after four days straight, I tell my wife "I have to take a break"...'bout 0430 the following day, I'm jittery and anxious to get back out there
  7. Assuming the lake is managed well, the slot limit tells me that biologists have determined that harvesting bass is good for the lake.
  8. As someone totally dedicated to probing every piece of wood larger than 3 cubic inches in a 10000 acre lake, I cannot comprehend this

I quit answering my phone years ago
  10. Hadn't wanted to consider that....Kayak Bass Fishing National Championship is there in October....hundreds of appetizers inches just off the water
  11. Chatterbait is one of the first things I throw most any time surface temps are above 40. I make them tell me they don't want it. Unfortunately, my Jackhammers do NOT spawn
  12. Doesn't sound like he's wanting to spot fish. But fair point about learning if there are applicable laws....and exact rules
  13. That's where the cornhole boards go
  14. I guess that might be a better reason than intending to fish it
  15. If you are pitching or flipping and feel the urge to swap out that 3/8 oz worm weight for an ounce and a half of tungsten....you MIGHT be punching
  16. No tips....until something dies in there, I'm unconcerned with how the inside smells. My Hobie has not been bone dry since I bought it over two years ago....I sponge out standing water when it gets to the 'sloshing point'
  17. Exactly. I've seen better stitching on coin purses at a cub scout meeting.
  18. Thanks, @Boomstick. Was glad to have gotten on...wish I could have stayed.
  19. 63.3 @ 11 AM yesterday; at High Point Marina
  20. Interesting. I'd bet I have about 4 or 5 years on you. I could have easily listed anything from Seconds Out or All the World's a Stage.

  22. Coat room temp roast with paste of butter, garlic, rosemary, thyme, pepper. Like @slonezp 500* for 5 min per pound. Leave in oven for 2 hours...do NOT open oven door!! Perfect every time
  23. Biggest turnout ever for our club; 85 kayaks! Much tougher bite than last week...or even yesterday. Less than 10 scored a five fish limit (min 12"). I went back to Pigeon today. None of the spots I marked last week produced today. It was a grind. You could see big fish strolling in the shallows, but they weren't eating much today. I pulled enough out of shallow wood and under docks to squeak out a 5th place finish. But I sure didn't learn much that would help anyone fishing tomorrow or next week. I think if I were going to do it again tomorrow, I'd go to a creek with more docks, because I always feel I have a shot to pull a limit out from under docks at Anna when nothing else is working.
  24. +1 Alternatively, if I'm working it in shallow cover like now and some periods in fall, I rig it on a 1/8 or 3/16 weighted hook.
