Any recommendation on an accurate scale? I'll take accuracy over durabilty if that matters.

Luggage scales are extremely accurate and inexpensive. I've found mine to be accurate to .1oz  That auction site has a good assortment.

Those sub $10 scales are great.  I used them for years. But, they aren't particularly weather-proof.  I yak fish in all-weather and the scales took a beating.  If you also need some fish grips, try the KastKing grip/scale combo....around $30 for good grips and accurate,  water-proof scale.

I use the cheap luggage scales.  I've probably got a dozen of them in the garage in boxes still. Very accurate but they don't like getting wet. They'll stand up to a quick dip or getting a little rain on them, but you can just leave them out in it.

My rapala is pretty accurate.  I weighed known weights up to 10 lbs.  I swapped the hook for lip clips from a spare donkey leash. 

Chatillon.  Pricey, but reliable and accurate.

Using the metal hook that comes with most scales is a recipe for disaster.  Not only does it damage the gills when you slide it under the flap, but when the fish flops off it can smack down on the ground or floor and knock itself stone dead.  Please don't use the metal hook!

Ya, I removed the hook from mine and replaced it with a carabiner that I clip grips into.

The scale I use is a generic, sold under the Rapala, Booms, ReelSonar and other labels.

Boga grip.

Avoid scales at all costs.   Scales lie.   I don't know how many times a scale has turned a 6 lb fish into a 4 and a half pound fish.  Three and a half pound fish commonly weigh a little over two pounds when put on a scale.   If you're in a tournament and have to use a scale - use their scale.   At least it is lying more or less the same for everyone.

 

Even the so-called "accurate" scales, the ones that weigh a 5 lb   exercise weight accurately, once you put a fish on that same scale, it is programmed to lie, it can't help it, it is in its nature.  I won't have a scale in my boat, mostly because in the past it has proven detrimental to my self esteem.

 

If you have to carry something to "rate" your fish, carry a ruler.  It is harder for rulers to lie.

 

I've been using the Accu Cull Digital Scale 55lb for a few years now.

I replace the hook with the Rapala Floating Fish Gripper 6 - 

Weighed some pretty respectable green and brown bass with this one. 

No Complaints.

I agree with y'all that put a fish gripper on your scale. My wife got me an inexpensive scale for Christmas that came with the metal hook, which I swapped out for a 6" Rapala grip. Now it's as good as the more expensive models, passed all accuracy tests I've given it, and I'm sure cost significantly less even with the addition of the grip.

I agree.  I measure 90% of the fish I catch and then release them quickly.  Its easier, quicker, and less stressful on the fish too.  18 inches is 18 inches on every ruler but 3 pounds may not be 3 pounds on every scale.

 

That being said, I do keep a calibrated digital scale in my boat and use it on rare occasion.

Yup. Agreed. The hook sucks.  Even with the hook I used to hook my clamp on my donkey leash anyways.  It did add two ounces  

 

Now I’m legit.  No more lies. 

The last 3 or 4 scales I've bought I checked with 2 food scales we have at home and they were all within .1 lb which is good enough for me.  They are the inexpensive ones on ebay or amazon.

Mine gets okay readings.  It’s reads high the bigger the fish.  Great for that (ahem)  9 lb Gish I hope to get. 
 

the clip doesn’t affect the reading.  It’s tiny and lightweight.

This is what I use. Very handy and have had zero issues with it so far. 

I use a rapala that I checked with certified weights from a grain elevator. Right on the money every time .

Thanks.  I tested my Rapala against my kitchen scale.  My clamp substitution worked.  I’m off half an oz weighing a 5-pound dumbbell.  
 

Maybe I should source a heavier fish clamp?! (For better fish stories)
