Sniper on my spinning rod -- what am I doing wrong?
Nothing on the end of the line when dragging behind the boat. I used only the water resistance as the tension when retrieving. THe pressure I alluded to was upon initial spooling at the house. I'll check for overfilling, that's the most likely culprit I can come up with. I'm still going back and forth on braid vs. fluoro on a few different spinning combos. I think I still prefer the slack-line sensitivity of fluoro...

Sniper on my spinning rod -- what am I doing wrong?
So by many accounts I've seen, 8lb Sniper fluoro is one that's supposed to play well on spinning reels. I put some on my 2500 Stradic a few days ago and followed the usual steps. I made sure the line came off the spool counter clockwise, used KVD L&L, applied decent pressure while spooling. My first trip on the water with it was yesterday and it was springing off the reel something fierce! I even let emptied my spool and drug it behind the boat for a few minutes. Does this stuff settle down after a trip or two, or did I seriously misinterpret this line as good on a spinning rig?

Jon Boat to Bass Boat and how wide is this boat? *PICS*
Just get one 24v motor on the transom instead of two 12v Look at tinboats.net for other ideas. I think the pics from my build are still over there somewhere

Added another species to the list...
Didn't keep it. I was still too busy processing what the heck had just happened...and why the holy heck I was still wearing my full winter Goretex in Mid-May in Georgia.

Added another species to the list...
It was certainly an unexpected bonus to add a new species to my list last Monday. I caught my first walleye. On Lake Lanier in Georgia. On a swimbait in 2 feet of water. Wait, what? CRAP: mods, please move to the other species forum.

41.5 lb drag?
Fair enough, but are you saying you think 12 lbs is enough to get an angry Goliath grouper out of a wreck? I'm going into that battle armed with more than 12 lbs...

41.5 lb drag?
You do see that it's a saltwater reel, right? I still wouldn't buy it, but drags of those ratings make a lot of sense for the salt guys.

Looking for a Froggin combo that could also be used for inshore
Where is "here"? Somewhere in the NE?

Looking for a Froggin combo that could also be used for inshore
Targetting what sort of fish inshore? To me, inshore fishing would be for redfish, speckled trout and flounder, and I can't envision a froggin' bass rod working well for those inshore species.

Medium Spinning Rod Recommendation
Kistler KLX in Medium It's a touch heavier than in power than other typical mediums, but that's what I love about it. The spics show it rated for 1/8 - 1/2, but the line rating of 10-15 lb test is the more accurate indicator that it's more powerful.

Penn Allegiance Inshore Baitcasting Rod
I would hazard a guess that it's likely a little heavier than desired for bass and trout. What are the rod and reel specs?

Braided line suggestion
My inshore rigs all have yellows or reds for line visibility reasons. Pick whichever you prefer...

All the above are good options. Let me add one more -- screw-lock hooks.- Braided line suggestion
I've alternated between PowerPro original, Sufix performance and Sufix 832 and not seen any appreciable difference between them to make me prefer one over the other. All have served me equally well. 15 or 20 lb class in either is my preference on Shimano 4000 sized reels. You'll want more of the smaller line to be able to handle longer runs -- just make sure you use an appropriate mono or fluoro leader to reduce bite-offs from toothy saltwater critters.- Falcon saltwater rods as finesse bass?
I haven't fished any Falcon rods but from handling them in the stores, I tend to think they're slower in action when compared to their bass counterparts. I'm sure they'd work, but wouldn't be my preference for finesse bass plastics. Would probably do very well for smaller reaction bass baits though. I find the same true for my M and ML Tidemaster rods -- while rated fast action, being a bit more moderate than comparable bass rods.- Tell me about your Big One that got away.
I can't say that I have ever lost a fish that I knew for a fact was a giant...but I have a story along similar lines I was out fishing Lake Varner a few years ago and I saw former BR poster and big fish guy Randall behind me. We were both cruising to a grassy spot known to hold fish. I got there first and had my choice of where to fish, so I choose the inside grass line and start throwing my swimbait at the edge of the grass. Randall rolls up and starts throwing his swimbait on the outside grass line. We're cruising down the grass lines 20 yards from each other, throwing the same baits in basically the same spot. So what happens? Good ole' Randall sticks a 12lb'er in my face, and I got to watch the whole thing from cast to catch. DOH!- Do you wear a "buff" when fishing? and let's see it if so.
I wear one too. I find it very convenient to roll off the lake and immediately go rob a bank. No wardrobe change needed!- Short fishing pants- good deal
We're fishermen -- don't we call that color "merthiolate"?- Short fishing pants- good deal
What? No jokes that 00 mod will need to start shopping from the kids section?- closed loop spinner baits.
Spotsticker baits also offers a closed-loop option on both the Mini-Me and standard spinnerbait versions http://www.spotsticker.com/product-category/spinnerbaits/ - Making a soft plastic tougher
