Rodriguez leaving West Virginia to coach Michigan
C'mon Jimzee, are you really telling me that if a more presitigious job opened up in your line of work that would pay you more money you wouldn't take it? Yeah, I probably would, but that's the funny part. WV salary per year: 2 million Michigan salary per year: 2.4 million Cost to buy his way out of WV contract: 4 million Taking 10 years to break even with what you already have: PRICELESS!! For everything else there's Sellout Card, endorsed at most major sporting events worldwide. You think RichRod is paying for his own buyout?!?!!? Um, no

Frog Rod and Reel Combination
Nice. Where did you get the idea for this combo? Great choice. You'll love it.

SPRO Lures--Any Good?
Ask Roland Martin

Reel Service
There is also a more local option. Nutter Rod and Reel repair in White, GA. If you're ever near Lanier, they have a dropoff at Hammond's Bait & Tackle shop.

does mono have any advantages over fluoro...
Mono is cheaper, more readily available and (in my opinion) more friendly on spinning reels

Frog Rod and Reel Combination
4 or 5 power Dobyns rod, and either a Zillion or a Revo.
-
Revo Premier
I think this can happen to any reel that may have been boxed up at the company a while ago... I'll bet a good cleaning and relubing will resolve it.

What a deal!!!!
The guy reporting this at TackleTour is a Shimano employee. He said you need to purchase at MSRP.

What line for an "all-around" casting setup?
12 lb P-line CX Premium or Floroclear.

Now's a good time to buy a Curado

Which St Croix Avid rod do you use for topwater?
When I throw topwater, it's usually a Super Spook, and I really enjoyed throwing that on my AC66MF/Revo STX combo this year

Best value in jigs
Not really looking to spend MORE per jig, but thanks my mistake. I think I misunderstood your meaning of "value". Jigs are not all equal, some are far more effective than others. To me, "value' means improving the chances of a bite from a BIG bass, hooking up and landing the fish. Fair enough... As I was writing the original post, the thought did cross my mind that is could be ambiguous. But I was lazy and left it as is But to be clear, I'm looking for high quality jigs (good color selection, good components, etc) at good prices.

Beginner Swimbait Reel
One of the Abu round reels would be a good choice. Good line capacity for heavier lines, affordable, built like a tank. Look at a C3 5500.

Best value in jigs
I'm trying to force myself to start using jigs more often. Which means I need to buy some jigs To start out, I've bought Booyah's mostly because I can get them easily. However, I'm sure there's a wealth of smaller companies out there that make fine products. Anyone have any input on jigs that are of a good value? When you're buying jigs in quantities, a quarter per jig could results in decent savings. Thanks

Crankin' rod for tops and jerks?
I think there's a fine line here. Although you want a soft tip or moderate action for treble hook lures, you also need enough tip to be able to work the lure.

Curado or Revo STX high speed?
STX. And don't look back ;D

40% off most St. Croix @ Reedssports....
As someone who tried fishing toads with an AC66MF earlier this year when I was in a pinch...do not do it. Not nearly enough backbone for toads, jigs or plastics. The AC68MXF will do nicely for lighter or weightless plastics and jigs, but I think this guy is also too light for a toad rod.

Creating a Combo Specificly for Jigs/flipping
I think you are missing the point. The advantage still goes to the fish. We are talking about areas that you can not have a pretty fight and play fish. You may be flipping areas that are open but that's not where we went. I got news for you also... there is nothing easy about it... you hook a good fish (insert your own # here) and have to get him out the middle of a submerged tree or from under a 2 story boathouse with upwards of 50 piers and crossmembers. You can't "play them beautifully" unless you are using trolling wire for line and then you are going to beat the fish to death by the time she clears the last obstruction. ...lol I do understand what you mean, I just think you misunderstood what we meant. x2. If hooking fish in the slop and not landing them is fun for you, then have at it Personally, I get frustrated at every fish I don't land, and that would be a lot if I was using lighter equipment in the weeds, piles and pads.

Picking new rod, help
I have that exact Kistler, as well as 2 Dobyns rods (not the 683c, though). If you didn't have 3 power Dobyns listed, I was going to suggest one. These are great rods for the money, and far superior to my Kistler in performance, fishability, fit and finish. And your desired applications are right in this rod's wheelhouse.

Lake Varner and Lake Acworth big bass
Chris, I told Jake and Roy that you had a tough time out there. Jake said we could have stayed longer and caught more but they had to go watch GA beat Tech. He said that without knowing you were a Tech fan but I got a good laugh out of it. ;D Won't be fishing for a couple weeks since my wife just had another surgery but I will let you know when I am going back. Stupid UGA fans... Yeah, I was at the game, so no fishing for me on Sat either.
