Yeah, I don't quite get the decision to NOT make the 6:1 ratio available in the 200 series. Seems to me if there's one ratio you NEED to release for a reel to be popular, it's 6:1 And what happened to the $120 price range very frequently referenced in the rumors? I don't see a $20 difference in price as big enough to make the Revo crowd think twice.

Well here's the crux... In my opinion, the MH Avid is about a notch higher in power than the MH Crucial, so the Avid will be a bit stiffer and better with heavier lures. And the M Avid has a softer tip and is better suited for moving lures, and NOT plastics/jigs. If you're fishing 3/8 oz and up, I'd recommend the Avid. For lighter lures, the Crucial is probably a better choice.

Hope you got a leader on there if you're fishing in pike-infested waters. I've heard those toothy mothers love stealing expensive lures from unsuspecting bass fishermen

Well, you can put just about any plastic on the end of a C-rig, as you stated. However, if the lake is as clear as you say, a more subtle bait may be a better choice. Perhaps a french fry or a straight tail worm (like a Zoom Trick worm) would be a better choice. Then again, I'm not a bass ;D

A 6:1 reel is not a great choice for deep cranks, in my opinion. You'll find a lower ratio reel will be easier to use for these reels. The strong resistance you'll encounter when retrieving these types of baits is best counteracted by a lower gear ratio in the reel.

1) thread the line through the guides on the rod down to the reel 2) Flip up the bail on the reel 3) tie the line to the reel 4) close the bail 5) put the spool on the floor with the label down 6) pinch the line between your fingers about 1-2 ft above the rod for tension 7) crank the reel 8) fill the line to about 1/8 from the lip on the spool

Yea, I'm curious about that one as well. Is this series of rods a significant step up from the Avid line?

Anyone fished the new split grip St Croix Legend Tourney sticks? I've handled them a few times, but the reel grip strikes me as being too short. Can anyone who has spent a good amount of time fishing one of these rods have any comments on how comfortable it is to fish? I'm considering picking up a 70MHF to act as a jig, C-rig, bigger T-rig and paddletail swimbait rod. I can't imagine going over 3/4 oz for a jig or C-rig, which is why I'm leaning towards the MHF over the HF. Comments? Feedback? Bueller?

Well for a lefty, there don't seem to be many options for low ratio low profile cranking reels... This is about close as we get, it seems

Only thing I would add is a more subtle topwater color. Add some clear baits

This is on my crankbait reel so I need to be sure it has enough give to not rip hooks out of a fish's mouth I think this is a sign from the gods to get the Revo Winch

It's a miniature Carolina rig. Tie your hook at the end of the line and about 1-2 feet up, crimp a split shot. I prefer the Water Gremlin Bullshot sinkers. Add your favorite soft plastic on the business end and have at it. My favorites are Trick Worms. Thanks Randall

Hello all, I was messing with my BPS Extreme reel last night, and I noticed that the drag is really tight even with the drag star loosened all the way. Anyone have any idea where I should look for issues? Does this symptom give enough info to narrow it down? Yes, I know, send it in to BPS. But I figure I need to learn my reels better at some point, and this is a relatively inexpensive reel to learn on.

Hmmmm....looks like a nice alternative to paying $3+ each for the 'big name brands' Do these come with rattles? Any pictures anywhere of the finesse jigs? Can't seem to find one on the website.

"There's no market for it" Apparently, there's a market for a lefty STX 6:1, righty STX 6:1 and righty 7:1 since they sell them But there's not one for a lefty 7:1. Yes, ship them. The problem is the great unknown. You can have no idea how much you'd be charged until you get to the checkin. I had this same question 2 weeks ago and even the Delta website has conflicting info. I even saw one reference on that site indicating that packages above 80 inches were NOT PERMITTED. Not to mention the fee I was told by a rep on the phone was also different from fees indicated on the website. I figured it would actually end up costing me several hundred to travel with my rods, so I decided not to travel with them (took just the reels) and buy myself a new combo at home

So did you have a bad experience with American Rodsmiths or have you not fished one? I may be in the market for one of their rods as well, so I'm looking for feedback as well.

Yes. Not a bad stick, but the Avid is more sensitive in my opinion.
