  1. I write it in Sharpie on the crankbait body, just beneath where the lip meets the body. I don't think it matters to the bass -- I've yet to find a fish that can read
  2. I have a Zillion on a Dobyns 704C for those exact uses. The outfit gets the most work as my Horny Toad rod, but I use for larger plastics as well. I love that combo...
  3. Played with one at a local store today. They palm nice and certainly are smooth. Still not giving up my Revos for them just yet. And I don't care just how sacred the old green Curados were. There's just no reason to make a reel in ugly green, IMO. I considered getting the new green Curado and pairing it with a Carrot Stick for the hands-down ugliest combo ever assembled.
  4. Daiwa Tierra 2000 spooled with 8lb P-Line CX on a Avid AS69MLXF
  5. Hmmm...Is the Horton ramp close to being closed? I've never fished that lake before and I want to. I'd hate to get down there and it be closed
  6. I was at Kedron a few weeks ago with the same results. I guess we put about 10 in the boat, but I don't think a single fish would have kept. I plan to try Horton very soon...
  7. What kind of rod and reel is it? Is the reel well-maintained?
  8. It's probably the hat. Take it off and burn it.
  9. I use Gammy EWG's, anywhere from 2/0-4/0 depending on what I'm trying to do. Smaller hook for more subtle finesse presentations, bigger hook to add a bit of weight so I can throw it weightless. Can't really go wrong with 3/0
  10. 1) tandem spinnerbait in white/chartreuse 2) chrome lipless crankbait 3) green pumpkin trick worm (I'm counting this as 1 bait so you can t-rig, c-rig, split-shot, or fish weightless) 4) 1/4 oz black/blue jig (I'm not a great jig fisherman, but I'd recommend this clearly to pitch to visible cover like stumps, docks, etc) 5) Berkley Chigger Craw
  11. Was the IMX noticeably more sensitive than your Legend Tourney?
  12. I only have a Mg69APC paired with an STX. It works very well as my spinnerbait and buzzbait rod. Also works well to throw a texas rig in a pinch.
  13. Did you take the old guy out for an early-bird special dinner at the pancake house? Hehe...
  14. Why have 1 when you can have 5 at 5-times the price?
  15. Nice! I'm gonna have to figure out where you guys fish and start following you guys around to these lakes. Hehe... You're putting up much better results than I am!
  16. I'm not paying extra to have a reel wee-wee on me.
  17. The newer split grip models, or the older full grip models?
  18. Me and the wife just did some shark fishing in Hilton Head Island a month or so ago. She hooked a BIG black tip that she fought for 15 min before the line snapped. The guide was convinced it would have been his biggest black tip for the year. But we'll never know After catching a bunch off shore, we coasted back into some creeks to put my MH action spinning rod and 2500-sized Stradic to the test. We had an AWESOME time putting about 4 ~15lb Shovel Nose sharks in the boat on that tackle. Never seen my rod bend like that before
  19. Agreed. For me, it's much more of a side-arm lobbing motion than an over the head cast. I find the best results when I leave ~12 inches of line between the rod tip and the bait
  20. Dude -- who DON'T you know?
  21. ^ reminds me of the kid from the movie 'Rushmore'
  22. 10 lb BPS may be tough. I'm currently having a few issues taming 8 lb XPS on my 2500 size Daiwa. What size spinning reel? The bigger models are better, as larger spool = lesser problems
  23. Wow... As a former competitive paintball player, I NEVER would have guessed I'd see Mondo and Animal Paintball mentioned on this site! But then again, I have noticed that pro PB shirts have gotten earily similar to the paintball jerseys I remember wearing.
  24. Start with mono. Floro is not a beginner-friendly line, and braid is too expensive to replace when you get the inevitable monster backlash. Trilene XT is a good one. However, Trilene XL is a little limper and more manageable. Either way, you can't really go wrong. And an equally important element in all this is the settings on the reel. Start with the brakes on max and GRADUALLY lessen the brakes as you get better.
