  1. 4 Lucky Crafy Pointers. I didn't believe in the $15 lure either until last spring 2 Pointer 100 -- chartreuse shad and ghost minnow 2 Pointer 78 -- same colors
  2. My wife got me a Browning tackle bag that fits PERFECTLY into my boat storage compartments. My old BPS bag could only fit 5 3700-sized boxes. Browning says this new one can fit 8. I can fit 11
  3. Looks great. Now I just need to decide if I want to spend money on getting the Spro or the Sebile Magic Swimmer in custom colors
  4. Hmmm.... I do have an Avid AS69MLXF and Daiwa Tierra 2000 combo I've been thinking about unloading...
  5. I saw this post today and thought to myself it would be a good idea to learn a new knot. So I go to this website and spent 30 minutes trying to tie this darn thing and I could not ONCE get the knot to hold. It would always just pull free. Amazing...I have an engineering degree from Ga Tech and I cannot tie this freakin' knot even with a diagram I'm gonna have to practice some more.
  6. Here's my take... The Big 3 have turned into pension plans with small manufacturing operations attached to them. Until the UAW realizes they exist in a GLOBAL economy (and let that econony dictate compensation), pumping money into the industry will only be throwing money away. I'm not a big fan of allowing my tax money to be given away to an industry that refuses to acknowledge the problems they created themselves. And working through those issues will involve change on both the management and union sides. But like others said, UAW workers need to take a SERIOUS look at other car companies (Toyota, for example) to see how these companies treat their workers fairly, remain competitive in the market place and still make a good profit. I think the statistics show that non-unionized plants are more profitable and more productive...
  7. Granted I've only just begun to get into the higher-end tackle, but I cannot imagine a better combo than the one I have. Revo STX and Kistler Mg69APC. This combo is light and well balanced, and has a nice Moderate-Fast to Fast action.
  8. Yeah, I got one of those too Dobyns 704C w/ Zillion HLA Daiwa Zillion 6'9" MH w/ Zillion SHLA Both combos fish well, and are well balanced. But the Zillion/Zillion combo is the more comfortable of the 2. Go figure

  10. A Zillion reel on a Zillion rod feels REALLY nice
  11. You have some options here Zara Spook Lucky Craft Pointer Fish Head Spin Rattle Trap Fluke Senko Spinnerbait
  12. As the resident Ga Tech fan/alumnus, I thoroughly enjoyed my Saturday afternoon. Assuming the ACC doesn't find a way to cheat us out of a decent bowl (again), the Chick-Fil-A bowl would be a good matchup.
  13. Please trade Calvin Johnson. Please trade Calvin Johnson. That is all.
  14. Doesn't that kind of take the fun out of this? Granted I'm only a first-time participant in this, but isn't it a little more fun to let the buyer choose and surprise the receiver?
  15. Let me know if you guys need a bait caddy. ;D
  16. Sounds intriguing. Who else can truly understand the tackle obsession more than other fishermen What's the deal here? 1 item less than $30, or as much as you can buy for $30? Any other rules (for example, like you need to buy local/regional fishing products to send to your receiver)?
  17. I see a few posts on jig making, and now I'm sucked in But a few questions 1) can anyone give a description/suggestions on when to use what jighead style? I'm on Barlow's tackle site and I see belly jigs, arky jigs, rocker jigs, style S jigs, banana jigs, poison tail jigs, etc When do certain jig head styles shine over others? What style should I use? 2) what exactly is a 'layer' of skirt making material? I see it's the easiest way to create your own color combos, but how much is 1 'layer'? Is 1 layer essentially 1 skirt's worth, just missing the band to secure the skirt to the jig head? Thanks!
  18. For me, spinning gear is much more comfortable for this technique ok just checking. I figure its just a personal preference, but recently I noticed a lot of people stating that they only use spinning gear. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything... Sorry OP for the hijack Bass don't eat jerkbaits being thrown on casting gear. You didn't know that?
  19. For me, spinning gear is much more comfortable for this technique
  20. What's the difference between the 2? Action? Durability? etc.
  21. I detected pompousness. In order to make amends, you must send me one of those Zillion rods. Hehe...
  22. The bigger the hook, the better for these. For a 5inch, you'll probably need a 5/0 EWG, minimum. But a 6/0 or 7/0 may not be out of the question. I also recommend you get some weighted hooks or some pinch on weights.
  23. Dobyns 704C does me well for this purpose.
  24. Definitely handle it first. In my experience, an inshore M rod is not equivalent to a freshwater M rod.
  25. Slightly off-topic. The Avid AVC66MF is also a great all-around rod for just about every medium weight lure. However, it's not for soft plastics or jigs. 8-)
