  1. FD or LE as mentioned can offer some unconventional schedules that can allow more fishing time. Those are also two fields that you shouldn't get in to with schedule being the driving factor. If either is something you might be interested in then by all means look in to them but don't go into either solely for more fishing time.
  2. Does anybody know what brand this is? Has a kind of unique head. It's a good three years old. May not be available anymore but there's a lot I like about it for certain situations so I'd like to have a couple more in the boat.
  3. I think it'll do what you're looking for it to do. There's a lot of personal preference involved and one brand of medium can be somewhat different from another brand. For me medium spinning is my preference for ds, light shakey heads, and some weightless applications.
  4. Adam Lexington, KY No way I could narrow it down to just one question. I'd just say thanks for being such a great ambassador to the sport and an inspiration for so many. One of my pro fishing idols growing up. Used to go over to my gf's house every Saturday morning (cause they had cable) as a teenager to watch the fishing shows. Hank's was always my favorite.
  5. There's part of me that wants to believe that no one could possibly act like that and that this is a joke. Nothing should really surprise me anymore though. There's part of me that wants to make some retribution suggestions. I'm not going to. From the sounds of it he's got some issues of some kind. Self esteem maybe. Maybe just something he's got going on right now where he craves attention. Might've just been a lapse in judgement on his part though. Only you can make an informed decision about whether you need him in your life or not and whether or not the pros outweigh the cons. You're the one that knows him. If he's going through something and you accept him as is then maybe just let him know you're ticked and why. If he's just a ***** either call him out or just cull him. We fish cause we love it l, and for a lot of us it's an escape. You don't need the drama.
  6. Wear the right gear and go. Just don't go out there thinking you have no chance. First off you absolutely can catch fish in those conditions. Might be a tougher bite, you might be surprised though. Secondly, although I don't fully understand why, confidence or lack of confidence seems to really make a big difference in success both fishing and life in general. Don't think there's no way you can catch one or you're about guaranteeing you won't. You might go freeze your butt off and get humbled or you might not. One thing you can count on is that the only chance you have to catch a fish on Saturday is to get a lure in the water.
  7. I'm pretty new at regularly tournament fishing. It's definitely a little different than fun fishing. It's not that it's not fun, it's just a different kind of fun. I like the competition and I like the pressure. One of the reasons I started doing it was to force myself to learn to fish different bodies of water in all kinds of conditions and seasons. Ive been guilty of not going out if I hear it's a really tough bite or it's too windy, cold, or whatever. Tournaments force me to try to learn to play whatever hand I'm dealt on the water. I think you should give it a try. Worst case you don't like it. For me there has been, and continues to be a learning curve but I enjoy the challenge.
  8. A friend of mine lives pretty close. As of a week ago he was catching some pretty decent spots there. Slow bite but decent fish when he got a bite.
  9. My three that are consistently on the deck year round are: 1. Something T rigged 2. A jig 3. A spinnerbait
  10. Thanks @fishnkamp I will definitely check that. It didn't act like line slippage on the spool though because I could thumb the line to hold the fish and crank the drag back up then reel it on in. The star drag adjustment felt loose like it would if you had physically loosened it. It's a good point you make that I need to eliminate that first off.
  11. Quick question. I have a Chronarch ci4+. Relatively light use. It's maybe three years old. Yesterday I noticed while landing a small fish that he was taking some line. Got him in and figured I had just backed it off and didn't tighten it back. I tightened it and maybe five casts later I caught another and it was loose again. This repeated itself several times. The reel has never done this before. Yesterday I was fishing a jerkbait and really ripping it. I've not done that before with this reel. I haven't put a mark on the adjustment to see if it is externally backing off or not but I feel like that is what is happening. I can't see any way that I'm inadvertently hitting the adjustment. Has anyone ever had this happen? Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
  12. No idea what system you currently have but I'd check out the flow rite website for pump out system options. I need to do it myself. I'm thinking you'd have to add some valving to utilize/redirect a recirc pump to pump out. Ive been meaning to do this for a couple years. It sucks crawling up under the outboard to drain the livewell water into a weigh in bag.
  13. I would try to find a service manual for the outboard. They can be a pretty indispensable resource. Where specifically is the fuel leaking from?
  14. That's a cool concept. I'd say y'all will have a big time with it! Several friends and I did something similar years ago and had a blast. It was my first tournament type experience. I hope it goes well and good luck!
  15. Why north to south in your opinion? Warmer water on north banks from sun angle kind of thing, or something else?
  16. ^ What they said. I don't think either is a bad choice. Also spend some time determining which is laid out better for you from a fishing standpoint.
  17. Whole retrieve. Retrieve speed varies. I'm not crawling it but I'm not ripping it either. Crap I didn't see the recent threads on this. Prob should have used the search feature before posting. My bad. Mods feel free to just delete this topic.
  18. Lipless cranks have been one of my go to baits for years but I'm relatively new to the RES. Ive noticed that all the RES I have tend to ride up on their side pretty frequently to the point they want to come up real shallow. Next cast they run fine. Just to to be clear, I'm not knocking them at all, just wondering if this is the nature of the beast. They've been fairly productive for me.

I appreciate the info! The good news is, according to the tag, he only paid $.99. I like it! The glass top table would be cool as well.

Here's one of them with the box. The lip has pretty well disintegrated. I still haven't actually put anything together. I'm not sure how I want to do it yet. Thoughts on that are welcome.

I've been meaning for several years to create some kind of little display with some older lures and equipment that my grandad had. I'd like to use some of the more unique and older stuff that he had boxed up. There's a jerkbait that says Finland on the bottom. Says Finnish wobbler on the box. Nowhere does it say rapala but I have other lures that are called a wobbler that do have rapala on the lip as well as the box. My assumption is that this one is just a little older version. Is that the case? Just curious. I can and have googled it some but I'd like to tap the knowledge base on here. I'd like to not have anything this display (if i ever actually get it done) that I don't have some solid info on. Thanks
  22. They make boat cover support kits. Would be pretty simple to make what's in the pic though. Each support looks to be two T's and pipe in between. It's pretty slick how the T's are cut to kind of "grab" the hull.
  23. I also use a cover. It's not a true custom cover so I use pvc for support and to create a pretty high ridge down the middle of the boat. If I don't water will pond in a couple places. Due to the height of the windscreens on my consoles I can't do the right to left bowed pvc with success. I used 2" pvc. There are 3 vertical pieces. One at the front deck seat mount, one between the consoles, and one on the rear deck. T's at each vertical. From the front deck T to the bow I heated and bent a piece of pvc to land on the tip of the bow. Just straight pvc between the other T's. It's a pretty primitive contraption but it does the job. That handles getting the water to sheet off. I strap it down with the plastic buckle type straps. One at the bow that goes from the port edge of the cover to starboard edge, one on each side about middle point of the front deck strapped to the trailer. One one each side behind the fenders strapped to the trailer. More straps would be better, but with my particular cover that's evough for in the driveway. I'm not great at explaining things so if it sounds like something that might work in your application I can get a picture or two.
  24. There's nothing at all wrong with a 9.3. That's a solid score. I'd call it good if you stayed dry and didn't get hooked by something laying on the deck. Just take it slow. Don't get tore up and you'll be parallel parking with the tm sooner than you think.
  25. I'm jealous of all you guy's organizational skills. I have a 3700 with just hooks separated mostly by size and to a lesser extent by type (although I have no idea what technical size they are), one smaller box with t rig and c rig weights, and another box with drop shot weights and hooks as well as all my shakey heads. None of it labeled. I just match the hook to the bait and conditions and the weight to how I want to present it. I keep telling myself I'm gonna label them but I keep not doing it. I put the label from the packages in once but hooked the cardboard jerking a hook out of the box scattering all the other hooks from that compartment and that was that with that. There are certain things I'm able to be organized with, terminal tackle isn't one of them.
