That's a pretty good resemblance of "Bubba" Waterdog, right?

Gilraker made a lizard type bait in the 80's with molded external gills, as well as rattling eyes, it was named " Bubba " or maybe it was a waterdog, hmm, can't exactly recall now..

When I think of a Texas rig, it's with weight, plastic, and a buried hook point in the plastic body. That's the way bassmaster mag described it in the later 70's..

A slower ratio is fine, you don't need to hyper space/ time warp speed on your spinning reel. The ideal on wacky with trick worms etc.. Is the extremely light weight. Spinning facilitates this much, much easier than baitcasting. I throw senkos on my BC gear, wacky/ weightless tricks or elaztech trick style worms, it's spinning in 7' medium fast and medium light moderate fast action. Don't stress about the speed at all.. Focus more on line & rod selection.

2 to 7 feet is fine, and my preference actually.. So here's the thing.. Gotta get thru that top canopy of hydrilla.. It may or may not open up much once you break thru, remember its shallow, so.. Also how much weight will it take? Whatever it takes, 3/4 to 1 1/2 oz... It's going to be a fast bite so have stout gear. Do it & have a blast! A 7" ribbon tail is my choice, but a straight tale or even a stick bait works.. And others..

They "Allow" you to change the winding shape, based on line types, based on shimanos instruction from the 2000 year instruction document concerning the shims.( Stradic ) Never had a shimano spinner that did not wind evenly from front to rear, suppose it's possible though.

Go with a Shimano.. That ci4+ is a reel you can easily learn on, and grow into.. I get your point on minimal startup expenses.. In the long run a good shimano reel is almost always a great choice.. Best wishes, which ever reel you select!
