  1. Got too many reels to list here, but, my Calais 100A is my all time favorite. Have a dozen just to be sure !!
  2. The turnkey needs to be aligned in a position where the spring is at the top. On the brake case you will notice that there is a dot, (circle) on the rear. Align the circle with the spring, and the correct position will be achieved. Cheers, Terry.
  3. Buy both Just James !
  4. Hi Stephen, I must apologize for the information I gave you. When reading your post, I did not pick up on the fact that you had the 2016 model. The '07 model is the same, but , not this current one. Hope Shimano does cancel the order, and be sure to insist the seller pays for misrepresenting the item he sold you. Cheers, Terry. PS Get the socket too, it is not a PITA to use
  5. It is a 10 mm nut like most Shimano LP reels. Good luck getting in there without the right socket, and not damaging the nut !! Shimano did not include the socket with the reel just for fun.
  6. Those parts are identical to the USDM Calais DC. Part numbers BNT3616, BNT3617 and BNT3618. Shimano or Southwestern Parts will have these. The reel comes with a special socket (BNT3660) that is needed to tighten the handle nut. Shimano Calais 200DC.pdf
  7. Shimano and nothing else. Been using them for 30 years, and will be for another 30 , if I live that long. Reels will outlast me I fear !! Have some Daiwa and Abu still, but, they are not what I consider "eternal" like Shimano.
  8. Try https://www.southwesternparts.com/code/orderparts.php3
  9. When a part is shown as "ASSEMBLY", it means that the part comes complete. At least that has always been my experience with Shimano.
  10. Calais 100A. Have high end stuff, such as Antares, Metanium and Conquest, but still like those old tanks the best.
  11. Bait Finesse system ! More bout the reels ability to cast lighter baits.
  12. Both the bearings are the same size. The Curado has a different part number as it is a better quality Anti Rust Bearing (ARB).Placing one in a Citica would be an upgrade. The roller clutch bearing has no effect on IPT.
  13. The "Tomato" was the A model first made in 1993, as far as I can remember. Something along these lines :- 1992 Curado 100,200 1993 Curado 100A, 200A 1994 Curado 200B 1999 Curado 200B5 2001 Curado 200BSF, Curado 100B, Curado 200B38 2006 Curado 200D, 100D 2007 Curado 300D 2008 Curado 200E, 300E 2014 Curado 200I
  14. Shimano recommends that, in addition to oiling the brake pipe and block, a little drag grease be added to the brake block pivot shaft. This will help eliminate the noise.
  15. The gears from the 300EJ will fit to increase the speed of the 300E from 6.2:1 to 6.9:1 . The same is not available for the 301E.
  16. You win the lottery or receive an inheritance !!
  17. What year, and which store was that at Hootie ? Terry.
  18. Nothing better than a bargain....an idea.......and success. Good job Sir.
  19. To get that handle to fit, you will need to leave the handle nut plate (BNT2118) off.
  20. It is the most frustrating aspect of reassembling this reel. After years of frustration, Bantam1, the Shimano expert, suggested that it is best to leave it out ! Have had many reels come in for service that are missing that part, and they work just as good. Maybe a bit of "over engineering"
  21. The 100A and 200A are super reels, albeit a little on the heavy side. I assume that you have one of these. The stock bearings are superb, and with a deep clean and lube with a little quality oil, will be every bit as good as the Boca's you have ordered. The only thing that you might consider are a set of carbontex drag washers from Smoothdrag. The handle on the Calais is fixed from under the handle, so you may have to modify things to get the Hawgtech handle to fit. As already mentioned, Mike at DVT is the go to man for a supertune. Good luck. Terry.
  22. Maybe try reversing the spring. Not able to tell from the photo, but it does look like its applying tension to the clutch pawl.
  23. The bag has a set of white brake blocks that are lighter than the fitted red ones. Changed mine out and found them better for throwing light plastics. The "little stickers" are tabs that are meant to fit under the reel foot, to avoid scratching the rod's reel seat. Never had any use for them. Sweet reel. Enjoy !
  24. These USDM models do require that you remove the handle side to access the VBS brakes. It is a mission, but in reality once set you leave them for ever and a day. Mine came with 2 on from the factory and and have not had to change them since. The brakes are on when pushed outwards, as you correctly state. It is recommended that you pattern the on off brakes in uniform.
  25. Happy Birthday for next week Master Bait'r ! Spoil yourself
