River2Sea has a nice gimmick going.
I agree color doesn’t matter for Whopper Plopper and probably topwaters in general most of the time. When my friends and I fish Whopper Ploppers and Whopper Frogs we fish different colors and all catch fish. I always fish Monkey Butt and my friends usually fish Loon or Bone. Also, I can’t believe Berkeley didn’t name their new Whopper Plopper copycat the ‘Choppa’. .....Get to the Choppa!!!!

No correct Shimano Stradic Ci4+ parts?
I had mice chew my Shimano Stradic Ci4+2500FA like 2 years ago and my friend lost the handle screw cap yesterday so I figured I'd finally order the parts today. Went to Shimano's reel parts page and can't find my reel. I can find the 2500F but not 2500FA although I see a 4000FA on the page. When I looked last year I found the 2500FA. I was just gonna order the parts from the 2500F hoping it'd work but not sure. Will that work? https://fishshop.shimano.com/pages/stradic-ci4-1 What's also weird is that the correct handle knob for the 2500F is RD13672 when for the FA I looked at last year was BNT4150 which makes me think they are different parts.

Review: Whopper Plopper 75
I didn't want to buy a Whopper Plopper 75 because I already have plenty of Whopper Plopper 90's, 110,s and 130's. In actuality the 110 gets all of the action from me because it was the perfect mix of size, casting distance, and running properly. I thought the 90 took effort to run properly and why do that when the 110 and 130 perfectly with just reeling it in. I don't like the 130 because I use lighter gear and throwing the 130 makes it seem like I'm throwing a heavy musky lure which gets tiring after a day of casting. I have only fished alone twice this year so all of the other times i have 2 or more fisherman in my boat and whenever I go with friends we usually we have these lures tied on, 2 Whopper Ploppers, 2 Whopper Frogs, 1 Wacky Rigged Senko, and 1 nose-hooked Zoom Super Fluke the latter 2 being on spinning gear. My friend likes throwing the WP 90 while I throw the 110, always different colors. I like Munky Butt and he likes Loon. We always throw different colors. I've discovered that if 1 color is getting hit the other WP color will also get hit and if fish aren't hitting WPs one day, a color change won't matter. I think when it comes to Whopper Ploppers colors aren't as important, this may also just be a topwater thing. Well, I happened to go to Thorne Bros Fly Angler the other day and sure enough they had the Whopper Plopper 75. I picked one in Munky Butt up. Took it out to a friend's lake and missed 3 and caught a small northern. Brought it out yesterday and caught 2 smaller largemouth. I love this thing. The Whopper Plopper 75 is my new favorite Whopper Plopper. It casts as far as the 110 which is a country mile, runs true with simply reeling back, has super sharp hooks, and is lighter than the 110 so it takes less energy to use even though it performs the same as the 110. Only caught 2 small lm on the 75 yet caught a few larger bass on the Whopper Frog yesterday, so if the 75 doesn’t pull in the bigger bass over time I may have to switch back to the 110 as the 110 catches large bass. Did catch a few over 2lbs., two over 3lbs., and one over 4lbs. yesterday, so the lake yields some nice fish. I just have a feeling that it was the way it worked out yesterday and that the 75 will pull in big fish as much as the 110. If you want a Whopper Plopper the 75 won't do you wrong. Good fishin'.

New! Locked Up Swimbait head
Good idea!

New! Locked Up Swimbait head
I like this style better. No twisting. When you have a tailed grub it can get torn up just screwing it on. With these style bait keepers you just push it on and it holds it.

Prop frog ?
I tried the Teckel Sprinker and it's copycat the Booyah Toadrunner and neither ran great. Made homemade Whopper Frogs with Booyah Padcrashers and original Teckel replacement tails and worked great.

Another Whopper Plopper question
I love Monkey Butt and my friend always throws my others which are Bone and Loon and all catch fish. I've come to find out that if fish are biting WPs color doesn't seem to matter. When they are not biting WPs color also does not matter. lol

The Whopper Plopper in choppy water.
Yep, I don't want to use a heavier rod, so I stick with the 110's and under.

The Whopper Plopper in choppy water.
Just a heads up, I do have Whopper Plopper 90s, 110s, and 130s. Always threw thew 110, I thought the 90 didn't run as well and the 130 was too big (felt like I was throwing a heavy musky lure all the time). However, I did pick up a WP 75 and really liked it. It ran well and got some bites. So my choices would be the 110 or 75. I think I will be throwing the 75 a lot now since it's one of the lightest but still runs great.

The Whopper Plopper in choppy water.
I throw the Whopper Plopper in all conditions. Catches fish in them all. I like calm water and for me it seems to catch fish mostly in the first 5 feet if not the landing when it’s calm. Rarely do I catch on a stop and go so definitely different results for me.

hollow body frogs or soft plastic frogs
I never had great luck with hollow body frogs, only caught a few so I used a Rage Toad for a long time and caught a ton of fish. However, the soft body frogs get tore up and caught in the weeds more and more as they deteriote. Started making Whopper Frogs (Homemade Teckel Sprinker Frogs) and started catching even more fish and the I haven't gone thru any hollow body frogs yet, far more durable. I use Booyah Pad Crashers.

Why follow up a Whopper Plopper (or other topwater) with a Senko/Super Fluke but not a Whopper Frog?
When I have a topwater strike on a Whopper Plopper or other topwater I've noticed that if I throw a follow-up Senko or Zoom Super Fluke I have a good chance of catching the fish however, if I just re-cast that same lure and retrieve it over the spot again there is a good chance it won't get hit. So, when a regular topwater gets missed I definitely want to throw a Senko or Super Fluke as a follow-up bait rather than the same lure. When I throw a Whopper Frog (Homemade Teckel Sprinker Frog) I've found that it is better to just keep reeling but reel slower and you have a very good chance of catching that fish. Sometimes recasting the frog again also works. It seems that by reeling slower you give the fish time to re-position and strike again. I've attempted to throw the Senko as a follow-up to this and have only caught the fish once. I've caught at least a dozen fish on Whopper Frog when they miss it by simply continuing to reel slowly and hooking the fish on the 2nd strike. So, why does just reeling slower work with the Whopper Frog but with any other topwater bait like the Whopper Plopper I appear to have a much better chance with a Senko or Super Fluke follow-up bait instead of just reeling slower? Maybe it's because the fish get stuck a little with the treble hooks of the topwater bait and not the double hooks of the frog, I don't know.

Why does this Evinrude Etec throttle down at WOT?
Update: Talked to my friend and he said it started happening again. He said he'd start going at WOT and then about a minute later it'd go from 38mph all the way down to 32mph but usually around 36mph and the RPMS also went down at the same time. This is with no touching of the throttle and the throttle not moving at all. This is with 3 and 4 adults in the boat. What's the problem?

Whopper Ploppers/Topwater
I bouht a lot of Teckels and a few Booyah Toadrunners when they first came out. Neither panned out. A homemade Teckel frog made with a Booyah Pad Crasher and Teckel tail have really worked for me though.

Whopper Ploppers/Topwater
I think the Whopper Plopper is one of the best topwater baits ever and the problem for you will be if you have a lot of success with it other topwater lures may pale in comparison. I like the 110 size, the 90 doesn't seem to run as well and the 130 gets tiring throwing because it's so big. I like Monkey Butt, Bone, and Loon in that order but I will note that if the fish are biting on WP's the color and size doesn't seem to matter. Unlike many we like to retrieve them slow and steady and have caught a ton of fish. Good luck! I wish my first topwater bait had been the WP so I would have been more successful.

Choppo vs. Whopper Plopper
When did these start coming out? Last ones I bought were last year when the 110’s came out.
-
Choppo vs. Whopper Plopper
Isn't R2Sea a far smaller company than Berkley? I'm sure Berkley can produce lures at a far lower cost to them at volume than River2Sea can.

Cleaning your sunglasses
My wife uses the disposable wipes but I will say the tech from Leupold scopes said he didn't like them on their scopes.

Choppo vs. Whopper Plopper
Whopper Plopper is basically perfect, what could you do to fix it? Only thing I can think of is make it so the joint doesn't catch weeds but that's probably impossible.

Whopper Plopper
I do a slow steady retrieve. I know some guys really like burning them but not me. I’ve tried burning them but haven’t gotten anything. I think it comes down to what the fish want. I also think if fish are biting one topwater they will bite another so just because they are biting a Whopper Plopper doesn’t mean they won’t bite a buzzbait too.

Whopper Plopper
I think it has to do with each lake. With the Whopper Plopper I’ve caught them on every lake I’ve used them on all times of the day. I definitely don’t believe in only certain times of the day for all lakes. I’ll sacrifice catching fish quantity if for topwater bites. Most of the lakes I’ve fished have caught topwater all day long except one where I only got 1 bite in the morning and nothing the rest of the day until 2pm wherein it seemed the fish turned on and started crushing topwater. I quickly caught 16 nice bass. It seemed like every other cast was a bite. I will say my friends consistently caught fish all day on spinnerbaits the same day out of the same boat. I definitely don’t agree with the only 10 days of topwater bite. Never heard that one before. I don't think color really matters if they are biting topwater. I always throw Monkey Butt and my friends throw Bone and Loon all the time and we all catch fish. Goof luck!
