  1. I think the Teckel Sprinker Frog was a great innovation with poor execution. It's basically a weedless Whopper Plopper and although the WP came out with a ton of hype it really did deserve it because it is now one of the greatest topwaters ever I'd say and as long as it keeps catching fish like it's doing for millions of fisherman will cement it's legacy. I think the Teckel's downward nose which pulls it down doesn't help it out. I've only caught one fish on mine a northern and lost a few. I've yet to catch one on a Booyah Toadrunner which was supposed to be the improved version of the Teckel. I like the Teckel's Tail and the Booyah's upward turned normal frog nose. Because of the Teckel's innovation I've made my own homemade Teckel frogs and as the pic above shows has been a great success. If someone took that design and mass produced it I think it would be as popular as the Whopper Plopper also.
  2. Have you ever had Dual Pro or NOCO?
  3. Have problems with hooksets with both Teckel Sprinker frogs and Booyah Toad Runners. Even with waiting to set the hook. Have had almost a 100% hook up ratio with my howmade Teckel frogs. Also, no waiting to set the hook. Just set as soon as you get a bite.

I’ve always used cinnamon brown. Looks just like a worm. Weird it’s not more popular. Maybe it is.
  5. Good luck man, prayers. Life is so precious and can change in an instant.
  6. Frog but I’d modify them to be a homemade Teckel Sprinker Frog. I cant remember the last time I used a crankbait. From today, 3.24lbs.
  7. Youtube..... Youtube videos showed me how to use a baitcaster when I first started out.
  8. If you have a Fiberglass or Aluminum boat, why did you choose that material for your boat over the other?
  9. I have personal experience with both the Dual Pro Professional Series and Minn Kota 210. If I ever get a new boat it's most likely going to be a Dual Pro Professional or NOCO, most likely the Dual Pro. The Dual Pro charged 3 batteries on my old boat that shouldn’t have gone 7 years and that's when the batteries were already old (1 starting and 2 deep cycle). Both Dual Pro and NOCO recommend keeping the battery on the charger 24-7/365 and the Minn Kota does not, if that tells you anything. Also, the Dual Pro is supposed to equalize the cells every 30 days which is good for long term battery maintenance. Also, Dual Pro comes with Ranger boats if that's a good recommendation. I'd get the number of banks for batteries you have, so if you have 1 starting and 1 trolling motor/accessory battery I'd get a 2 bank, or even 3 bank if you plan on ever adding a larger TM that requires another battery. I have to plug in the onboard charger and a separate charger and it sucks when the original owner just didn't buy a 3 bank. He went cheap and bought a 2 bank....probably saved like $50-$100 bucks.
  10. I see you said black nickel hooks....I checked hooks and they say black chrome....is that the same thing?
  11. Who makes the needle sharp heat treated hooks that are good for wacky rugged Senkos?
  12. I've re-sharpened treble hooks on good lures that are permanent, I don't replace hooks on lures unless I need to and I've never needed too. But single hooks like mosquito hooks, wacky rig hooks, and what not are more replaceable hooks. Maybe you re-sharpen them until you've reached a point where you just toss them and replace them eventually. Do you re-sharpen single hooks or do you just replace them when they get dull?
  13. What do you mean by purge, gave away, sold, threw away?
  14. Would like to get a new boat in a few years and would like to put Minn Kota Talons on it. I watched their video and read their website and didn't see this answered so I'm hoping someone who has experience with them will know the answer to this question. I like to fish dock to dock in shallow water usually ranging from 2-4 feet. Was wondering if Talons once deployed could be brought back up (stowed) at the 1/2 way mark vs. fully stowed so that you could move down 40 feet to the next dock and then deploy them again. By only doing a 1/2 stow you'd save energy and time by not having the Talon fully stow and deploy from each fishing location. I have an Ulterra now that I love but sometimes the wind is too much which makes it hard to control your boat, hard to keep on one spot, and if it's going at the wrong angles can blow you into shore or out which makes harder, a direct in your face wind is easier but rare. Plus, you use a lot of battery power fighting the wind. So, can the Minn Kota Talons only 1/2 stow so that you can more quickly deploy them at the next spot and save battery power?
  15. Ironically we did a lot of bobber fishing as a kid....taught us patience.....however, if they are really young, bobber fishing with active and aggressive fish like sunnies is a good idea.
  16. I fished a lake known for big bass only got 1 bite. Spoke to a friend who's fished there before and he said you need a sucker minnow and big bobber just like your northern fishing. I never went back to try it but I believe him.
  17. Thats my next purchase hopefully. Maybe that’s why I’m currently satisfied.
  18. Haha. By the name not sure it’s a fishing related site!!!
  19. It seems that every year I'd find some new lure that I wanted to try, whether it be a new lure or old lure that has been out for a long time that I just discovered I always usually bought a lure or two that I'd never had or tried before. Last year I bought quite a few things, Teckel Sprinker frogs, chatterbaits, new spinnerbait brands, Whopper Ploppers, and quite a few hollow body frogs to experiment on to make my own Teckel Sprinker frogs. This year I really only bought the new Booyah Toad Runner and a Ninja Grass Blade for my Minn Kota Ulterra. I didn't buy any new rods or reels this year or any other fishing tackle or gear. I think I've finally achieved fishing tackle and gear fulfillment. I don't want to purchase anything more and I definitely don't need anything else as I have new lures in the box still. For Topwater: 1.) Whopper Ploppers 2.) Homemade Sprinker Teckel Frog (weedless Whopper Plopper/paddle tail frogs) For Underwater: 1.) Wacky Rigged Senko 2.) Nose-hooked Zoom Super Fluke I also use spinnerbaits quite often which and want to try some of the chatterbaits I have. What I have now has consistently worked pretty well in the lakes I fish. I do need to get better at fishing deeper though but I have lures for that too. But I really don't feel the desire to buy anything else....which is weird for me. lol. Maybe I finally beat the dreaded Bait Monkey! Anyone else reached Fishing Tackle and Gear Fulfillment?
  20. I lost a lot of fish to hollow body frogs and caught a few. When I started using my own homemade Teckel Sprinker frogs my hook-up ratio went up to almost like 98% and no more waiting to set the hook. You get a bite, set the hook! And I use the same hollow body frogs I always did. So far Booyah Pad Crashers have worked the best.
  21. I saw that in the news too but Fiat said no....but who knows. Only make 2 Chrysler vehicles, one being the Pacifica which is a big seller, I think the other is the 300.
