Cool, I'll try them tomorrow and see how they work. I still have the originals.

Adding Replacement Bigger Or Same Size Hooks To A Heddon Super Spook?
So you have to buy a bunch of new hooks and then measure them all for weight?

Do Reel Washers Eventually Wear Out?
I though some people used carbon washers and replacement washers from custom manufacturers too?

Do Reel Washers Eventually Wear Out?
Do washers on reels eventually wear out and do they leave shavings or debris from constantly running against each other?

Is It Necessary To Add A Split Ring To Zara Spooks Or Kvd Sexy Dawgs?
I know that some posters on here recommended putting an oval shaped split ring on Zara Spooks to help with walking the dog. I have both Zara Spooks and KVD Sexy Dawgs (KVD's knock-off of the spook). I can walk the dog fine without a split ring and none of my Zara Spooks or Dawgs have split rings on them from the factory. Is a split ring only helpful for walking the dog or is there other benefits from it? Because if the only benefit from adding a split ring is to aid in walking the dog, I wouldn't need to add one. But if there are other added benefits maybe it would be worthwhile to add them.

Square Bill Question
No. I used an Arashi at my friend's place and there was just deep water and some weeds. I snagged a few weeds but caught a few big bass too. No woods or rocks to bounce off of. Whenever it hit the weeds though I'd rip it away and caught some fish that way I think.

So What Crankbait Is More Effective Most Of The Time: Silent Or Rattling?
I really like my Arashi Silent Crankbait and Arashi Wake bait (I have a Biovex Wake bait and Rapala Waking minnow that I don't like as much). The Arashi Wake bait has rattles in it while the Arashi Silent Crankbait obviously doesn't. Both have proven effective. I know at the beginning of the day you need to grab a crankbait and you have to decide which one to grab, the silent or the one with rattles. So what crankbait is more effective most of the time: silent or rattling?

Truth About Cranks?
I've really liked the Arashi Crank rattling crank baits this year. If you go to Dick's Sporting Goods they usually cost $8 they usually just go on sale for buy one get one 1/2 off and that's a pretty good deal. I've had good success with Hot Chartreuse shad, same color that I have their Wake crank in, which I also really like. I also like the Rapala Scatter Rap in Smash color.

Adding Replacement Bigger Or Same Size Hooks To A Heddon Super Spook?
I'm a bass fisherman but one of the lakes I frequent has a lot of muskies in it. Every so often I get muskies to bite but have yet to boat one. Last trip out I had a good sized one bite my KVD Sexy Dawg, I waited till I felt the weight, set the hook and thought I had him. I reeled in about 3 cranks and then he was gone. I was using a Cabelas Tournament heavy frog rod with a Abu Garcia Revo Rocket and 30lbs. braid. So I should have had enough backbone to set the hook, however, my hooks may have not been the sharpest. I have since sharpened them all up. I don't want to get any musky gear and get into musky fishing. I actually think muskies are slimy, and gross. I just want to catch one to have accomplished that and never catch one again. lol. I read that a Super Spook is a good topwater muskie lure. Last trip I had 10 muskie hits and never got one in. So when I was was thinking if I get them to bite on a KVD Sexy Dawg next time when I'm fishing I'll quick change to the Super Spook and see if I can get one in the boat. Also, if I lose a Spook it's about 1/2 the price of the Sexy Dawg so if it gets lost I won't mind. Although they shouldn't be biting through a wire leader. I was at Cabelas picked up a set of VMC Sureset 4X strong trebles in size 2. However, after reading how you can add too big of hooks to topwaters and effect their movement I was wondering if these hooks weren't a good choice and if I should try a different brand and size. Currently it has some weird trebles on it that are all offset. Perhaps those are fine. I did just read on here how someone's friend had a big bass on a Spook and 2 of the trebles bent out and the fish got off. So I need some strong trebles that won't bend. I'm thinking Gammy, Owner, Eagle, or VMC because I think that is what Gander Mountain carries in their store. The Cabelas here is a smaller one and only carried these trebles and some regular round bend ones. So, what treble and size should I add to this Super Spook to hook a muskie and not negatively affect the action of the lure?

Why Don't Most People Add What Hook Size When They Suggest A Replacement Hook?
Thank you. It isn't even for me. I'm not replacing and hooks. But I see people ask this question often and they only get a brand not size. It's like someone asking for directions and the only response is buy a map.

Why Don't Most People Add What Hook Size When They Suggest A Replacement Hook?
Well if someone is going to recommend a hook brand for a lure that they normally swap out why don't they say something like, "When I switch out hooks for a Zara Spook I normally use a Owner 4/0 treble although some go bigger or smaller." since you are helping with recommending a brand why not the size also so that person didn't have to search all over the internet for the rest of the answer. If someone is looking for help why make them search all over? Just help them out. lol.

Why Don't Most People Add What Hook Size When They Suggest A Replacement Hook?
A lot of people on here say something like, "I just bought a Zara Spook and have a lot of bites but few hookups." And then people reply with, "O, I always change Zara Spook hooks out right away because they aren't any good from the factory. I switch them out with Mustad or Gamakatsus." However, that person rarely states what size replacement they are using. Since there is a plethora of replacement sizes that leaves one at the store or catalog looking at 100 different hook sizes and no clue on which one to get other than the recommended brand. So, if you are going to recommend a hook replacement for a certain lure can you please not only add the brand but also the hook size replacement for that particular lure.

What's Your Breakdown Of Fishing Gear Of Baitcasting And Spinning For Bass?
I have added them up and I am done buying rods and reels. I actually don't have enough room on my boats deck to keep the rods and reels I have (which isn't many compared to some), so I definitely don't need to buy anymore. I have 5 baitcasting set ups and 3 spinning set ups although one of the spinning set ups is an ultralight for panfish that I keep for kids. I never thought I'd have so many rods and reels. My 2 favorites of each: Abu Revo Rocket matched with a Cabelas Tournament ZX heavy Frog rod and a Shimano Ci4+ 2500 matched with a Cabelas Tournament ZX Dropshot rod. What's your breakdown of fishing gear of baitcasting and spinning for bass? And what's your one favorite of each?

What's Your Favorite Sponsored Angler Gear And Tackle?
I've got to say that I like and use a lot of KVD stuff. Not that it has his name on it, I could care less. Until recently I didn't know who he was. I'm just seeing what sponsored angler puts out gear and tackle that is proven effective and reliable. I found that I use a lot more KVD tackle than I thought. I use the KVD Sexy Dawg and Splash, KVD Mustad Fastach Clips, and a lot of Strike King plastics. I also have a few KVD crankbaits and lipless cranks that I bought before I came onto bassresource and learned who KVD and a few other fisherman where. So, what sponsored angler's equipment and tackle do you find yourself using?

Misses With A Kvd Sexy Dawg
What hooks and what size?
-
Misses With A Kvd Sexy Dawg
It does, but the ZX rods all feel like a weightclass less then they are. So a heavy feels like a medium heavy.

Misses With A Kvd Sexy Dawg
I hooked about a 36" muskie with a Ragetail Toad good but he broke the swivel snap. I'll look into the Poes. Thanks.

Misses With A Kvd Sexy Dawg
Sometimes fish hit this lure and miss it. I've had a few bass miss it which is normal. However I've had about 10 hits on it by muskies and never caught one. About 3 times it seems that they weren't even close to it. The other times they should have been stuck. One time today I had a good one hit it and it went about 2/3 out of the water and then went under. I set the hook and felt the fish. I reeled about 3 cranks and then it got off. Today I also had one musky bite 3 separate times in 5 minutes fully leaping out of the water each time. It must of only been about a 5-6lbs. musky. This is the time a musky lure would be good. I've used a Cabelas Tournament ZX heavy rod with a Revo Rocket and 30lbs. Power Pro. I'm wondering if the hooks are too small. But the KVD Sexy Dawg gets them to bite. Does anyone know of a similar lure for muskies that would work but isn't too expensive? I don't want to get into muskie fishing. Just one floating muskie lure like the KVD Sexy Dawg for when the muskies are biting while I'm bass fishing.

Ima Roumba
I heard the works at any speed with Biovex Wake Bait and that definitely wasn't the case. But I do hear good things about this one. I just can't be being any more lures. lol

Need To Pick Up My First Heavy Action Rod Soon
I would look at the Cabelas Tournament ZX topwater. Heavy and 7'3". Especially when they go on sale for $69. The rod feels like a medium heavy and the Winn grip is second to none. Cabelas also is carrying the *** line now. What's nice is if you get either of those two rods and don't like them you can exchange them for a different rod or your money back.
