I'm wanting to make my own knobs out of wood and cork. The problem is finding hardware! I can cut off the old riveted handles and was thinking of a bolt and sleeve setup to make new ones. Any ideas.
  3. Sometimes its just better to leave nature alone
  4. Not if you bought the combo. I have an Abu black Max 2 combo and its OK.
  5. So I've desided to dive into maintaining my own reels. My question is how to clean and re oil the bearings on my baitcaster. Do you dismantle the bearing or can you leave the shield/races together? I guess I'd like some step by step instructions on how to clean and relive. Thanks guys.
  6. Yes.... but can you put it back together?
  7. Haha bass hit hard! My friend you have much to learn! Sensativity is paramount! A bass can inhale your lure and spit it back out faster than you can blink! Worsted thing is if you are not watching your line, you wont even feel her. The easy bass are the ones that hang themselves on your hook. It takes skill to feel the rest of the bites. Yes a more sensative rod is helpful!
  8. Gx2 in OK. Its what I'm using for a medium spinning outfit. They used more graphite in these and the result is a stiffer more sensative rod.
  9. I've seen guys use 2 oz tungsten
  10. If I'm punching I use up to 1 oz
  11. Punching is a brand new thing for me. The ponds we fish are choked with penneywort. There are some big fish in there but the only way you gona get to em is heavy tackle or fish the edges and get lucky.
  12. You have to punch. You need a heavy action rod and a 3/4 to 1 oz punching weight. Rig it like a Texas rig using a flipping hook and a creature bait. I like to use a strike king rodent but any compact bait will work. I usually use 50 lb braid bus some guys go 65 lb plus.
  13. Here in oroville we might have gotten an inch. Probably less. The lake isn't filling up anytime soon. They are shutting down all the boatramps.
  14. When you have followers but no takers try using the same lure in a different color. You can also try changing your retrieve.
  15. Wait red.... purple....????? I'm lost. Can you repeat the question please. Haha
  16. 1/4 to 3/8 jigs with a variety of trailers. Plastic worms, finesse, ribbon tail etc. Some kind of topwater. I always like to have something for each water column.
  17. How long of a floro leader are you guys using?
  18. I think its funny when people think they know more than others based on age LOL what a joke. Braid has a place and specific attributes that I believe can help you catch fish. Other conditions call for mono or fluorocarbon.
  19. I have an old silstar that has sentimental value to me. I recently cleaned the reel and after outing it back together the gears slip bad. I've since taken it apart several times. It cast great. Also before I put it on a rod there is no slipping or grinding. What do I need to look for.

Huge for Idaho.... huge for anywhere!
  21. I use worm style baits most often when c rigged or finesse fishing. I use creature baits more often for flipping n pitchen or for punching dense cover.
