  1. I know its probably been asked, but I'm looking to spool my Lew's MB w/Fluoro for jigs/plastics. I'll throw anywhere from 3/16 to 1/2 oz. Will backing or no backing help me cast farther? I'm not worried about cost effectiveness... Also, how much backing/mainline on a 120 yd spool?
  2. I love my ProLite Special that I got for $60. The ProLite and Revolution are "Special Buys" which means they make them in limited quantities at a discounted price. Other "Special Buys" are the Midas Black Bass Reel, and the Nitro Tournament Z. It's a great reel at that price, but I don't know if they will actually go away from the PQ name. I think people sometimes trust names, and so I don't think they'll get rid of the reel. They may keep it in name only... But its their best seller, so they won't just get rid of it.
  3. Good to know... I plan on using 50#, and yeah I wan't something at least 7 or higher in ratio...
  4. You could buy a 50 pack of Stik-O's at BPS Spring Classic and use O rings... That would save you quite a bit..
  5. I almost always have a frog tied on.. If you throw them on the correct gear they can be thrown anywhere... They can also imitate almost anything if you have a few different colors.
  6. Sweet deal? Do you have a boat you are getting out on Table Rock With?
  7. The weather can change things as well. If the temps are cold... The sun will heat up the water as the day goes on, and fishing later can be better than earlier... And vice versa..
  8. The sales are coming up.... And there are some good deals on different reels. I'm looking for value for the money.. I've been browsing the BPS add, and the PQ is $50, the JM Sig is marked down by $20, the JM CarbonLitr is marked down to $99.. They all seem really good. Especially with the free line spool... I'm looking for a reel I can flip and frog with.. Which one of these would you choose? Any other suggestions?
  9. Used to live in North Florida myself! Good fishing there! Also, those are some really good pictures? Is photography one of your other hobbies?
  10. I personally like amber lenses myself. Also, I'm pretty sure Costa has a warranty on their glasses right?
  11. I have not handled them, but I'm in the same mindset. They are great looking rods for the price.
  12. I really think it depends on price range. In terms of value... BPS XPS series lures for 4.29 or 6.99 offer pretty good quality for the money. They're are a ton of options though. I also like the Academy brand baits, and the Cabela's stuff. I've heard good things about the Arishi series of bait, and wan't to try them.. I'ss have to drop some money though... They're is a guy selling them in the Flea Market, but he already sold the ones I wanted.
  13. I've used a few 'Pickle Baits' before... But I'm not a huge fan of them. Maybe I should give them another chance. I just prefer a spook in open water, and a frog for the slop/heavy cover... Many times I can imitate a shad just as well with a frog then I can the pickle... They may be easier to cast if they are weighted well because of their shape.. But I've never thought about it.
  14. As do I.. I'm starting a fishing log this season... I've also been keeping a rod/reel matrix so I can put together my best combos... Take inventory... All that stuff.
  15. I believe he was likening it to a real life situation... Similar to yours, which I think both are sound logic, and an interesting discussion for sure. I believe his situation was meant to be hypothetical... Even if it is not 100% realistic.
  16. Where are you going go school at? Just curious.
  17. Yup. The double takes are good hooks.
  18. Don't you know this sets the cosmic forces at imbalance! Lol
  19. J saw they expanded relationship with Zaldain, but could not find anything onA Mart even after a few web searches.
  20. This is untrue... Like I said... It has a specific time and place. Not always will bass hit it. Eventually if you cast a crankbait your gonna get bit. Eventually, if you cast an a rig for long enough you'll get bit. But throwing it isn't like throwing a seine net like people think. They're have been days that I've fished it, and Wiley it, and not caught fish...
  21. I do the 20% savings thing... I think its a good budgeting idea. Ot can be used to fund big stuff, or if an emergency ever arises.
  22. The shock is great for jig fishing w/braid. The EMotion has a few different cranking specific models with cool blank actions. For pure value, the Shock is a great rod at $50.
  23. Berkley has gotten me rebates promptly in the past. I'd expect no different this time.
  24. The new Energy reels look SO good w/the orange accents. They make me drool...
