  1. I just use Sufix Advance mono or fluoro and Cortalnd braid. I can't stand AbrazX.
  2. 99% of Oregon guys drive up to Washington for bass boats. Or down to California. Or you can buy from a dealership anywhere and have shipped. I once bought a boat in Ohio and shipped it to WA. If you want to come up and check out BassCat or Phoenix let me know. I'll take you out fishing in my bassCat at a nearby lake and then we can run over to Limit Out and check out the boats. A lot of boats on the showroom floor right now. What are you looking for?
  3. chabot is all trout and catfish pressure and little bass pressure. go rent one of the terrible boats with a trolling motor and catch some largies. Tough bite in the winter but if you do get one it'll be big. I have had many days on chabot catching tons of bass. been a couple years but last time there i caught over 30 in the 6-7lb range.
  4. I use the following Binsky colors and each works. Seems to depend on the day as to which gets more bites. I get the most bites on the red craw, chart, gold. Silver Gold Red Craw Chart Shad

I started using it this past year. I like it. Rig it up on that Trokar flipping tube hook and have fun.
  6. What lake in ID? You just need to change your approach. Ditch the C-Rig and pick up something else. Slow roll a swimbait, Spinnerbait, Crankbait (those smallies don't mind if it's not hitting bottom), neko rig or shakey head (probably still not the best choice of super snaggy. Good luck. Big bass in ID.
  7. Second attempt building a rod. First attempt at a spinning rod. Let me know if you see anything stupid here. Already ordered it all but I can always return something dumb. MHX Elite X NSJ871 Rec Cercoil Guides for the reduction guides 25, 12, 8, 6 RSPG Recoil Micro running guides 4.5 Fuji KG Arowana Titanium/Torzite tip 4.5 American Tackle G2 Carbon Split Grip American Tackle CCT Aero Spinning Reel Seat uni-Lock
  8. I bought two. One broke within an hour of use. I got it replaced with another. The other works flawlessly. I can tell 0 difference between punching or flipping the Elite Flip/Pitch vs flipping with my Quantum Smoke or Tour reels.
  9. Great deal on Dredgers on fishbrain like $6 somethin a piece and there’s a $15 off your order right now. Stocked up on some and a revo.
  10. Go fish the Salt River and catch dinks, go fish the banks at Saguaro or Canyon This is all assuming you are in Phoenix area. I've caught bass at all of these places mid day during the summer. Your best bet however will be morning or evening or even night.
  11. You should be using braid to a leader on spinning gear. It has less memory than the line you are talking about but not enough less to work with spinning gear. Fluoro IMO has no place on a spinning reel except as a leader.
  12. Definitely not too big. One of the hottest techniques up here on the Columbia River. They will eat them. Couple tips. Smallmouth will try to smack it a lot rather than bite it. Then they'll come back around and grab it or another will get it from the pack after that first one smacks it. When that happens kill the retrieve for a second or two and hopefully they come back around and get it. Next tip use a smaller hook. Best hook for these is the Gamakatsu G-Finesse Hybrid worm hook. Next tip if they are slapping at it take treble hook and put it on the G-Finesse like a stinger. burry one of the points in the body. Definitely downsize the G-Finesse if you do this. his will get those slappers. Next tip. They often eat it head first as well. Take an owner screwlock (screw all the way into the bait so none is sticking out) and a #1 or 1/0 or whatever size you want wacky rig hook and nose hook it. Last tip. It's a fluke. They all work. I am a D-shad fan and a Keitech Shad Impact fan but those are expensive to just take down to the stream. Zoom works great and they are cheaper and have the best colors with the exception of Keitech.
  13. Have to say I agree with what the WDFW is saying. Every time you leave the house you could be infecting someone or could become infected. It's not worth the risk. If you disagree fine but actually stop and think about how serious this situation is. You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. It's that simple. People are dying and we want to go fishing. Put that want on hold for a bit. The WDFW is doing their part and doing the right thing. The thing that is wrong is that the state or whatever hasn't followed through and banned recreational boating as well so it seems unfair and unbalanced but we can all be the bigger person here and go along with it and stop whining like little babies because we cant fish for a bit. We need to be the bigger better person here and step up and support those at risk of dying from this disease. We do that by staying home. Spend time with your kids, your partner, your self, read a book, garden, go for a walk, hang with the dog, organize your tackle, organize it again, go online learn something, pick up a skill, learn video editing for youtube videos, learn to knit, take online classes on something, anything. Keep yourself busy and chill out. Temporarily closing fishing and access to wildlife areas and water access sites was a difficult decision for us because we know how important these areas and opportunities are to you. The health and well-being of all Washingtonians is critically important to us, especially in this time of stress and uncertainty. This closure is crucial to implementing the Governor’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy order and limit on non-essential travel. Over the last weeks, we’ve seen large crowds at our state’s coastal beaches and riverbanks as people seek an outdoor get away. In fact, in some places, it has been busier than we see in the peak of summer. Some closures of recreational fishing were also legally necessary, as our staff are not able to conduct adequate fish sampling and monitoring under the Governor's order. Many salmon and steelhead fisheries require regular monitoring under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), which includes conducting angler interviews at access sites surrounding the state’s marine waters. The on-site, face-to-face nature of angler interviews puts people at risk of transmitting the coronavirus. Without this monitoring, recreational fisheries need to close, consistent with our ESA permits that allow fisheries. Fishing, boating, or hiking on public lands generally wouldn’t violate social distancing guidance. But it’s important to consider all the elements that go along with these activities: leaving the house and driving to a boat ramp, stopping on the way to buy ice or gear, helping the angler on the boat ramp in front of you, filling up for gas, and visiting the local grocery store. All of these interactions put you and local communities at risk. In addition, the influx of use that we witnessed over the weekend of March 21-22 created congested outdoor experiences very unlike what would normally be experienced. We need to protect all Washingtonians, including coastal and rural communities that were being overwhelmed with out-of-area visitors. We are cognizant of the impact of people travelling from highly impacted coronavirus areas to places that have just a handful of cases, and what it would mean to the healthcare system in those rural communities. In addition, the influx of people shopping in local rural markets has a direct impact on seniors trying to buy food as close to home as possible. So, please stay home and stay healthy. You have a role in saving lives in your community and statewide. We wish for you and your friends and family to stay healthy too, so that you can return to the waterways and lands we all value once we return to normal. We will revisit the closures to our lands recreational fishing on April 6, 2020. For the latest information around our response to impacts from the spread of COVID-19, please continue to visit https://wdfw.wa.gov/about/covid-19-updates.
  14. not the mono. there is an advance fluorocarbon.
  15. All good. I’ve liked the mono so far despite large diameter
  16. Just seeing if anyone has tried. Bought a bunch to try.
  17. I have about 25 smoke reels. All have been great. Been using the smokes since they came out and I got on board with Quantum. I also had maybe 10 or so Energy reels. Not this newest version but the previous version. I no longer have a single one. None made it more than a few months before becoming problematic. The Smoke and the Tour (basically same reel) have been bombproof. I do wish they would ditch the line size indicator. It does not work. It moves, gets bumped and changes etc. Also doesn't cover line sizes I often use.
  18. So Many J braid haters. ? It's all good. Another good braid is Cortland Braid. Very good stuff and does not loose color. You can only buy it direct however.
  19. Been using J braid 8 carrier since the day it came out. Never had a problem. I think it's one of the best braids. It's the only braid I trust at the moment.
  20. idk about any of those. i've been on an ALX kick lately. liking them a lot.
  21. It is an excellent bladed jig and my go to. I use a few brands but the advantage one i always pick up first. it works, it catches fish.
  22. I feel your pain. Left a 3700 deep full to the brim of jdm lipless baits on my bumper. drove off. by the time i realized it it was too late. i drove around all day for hours hoping that it was laying on the side of the road somewhere.
  23. I use the one in my profile pic. Spinlock Deckvest Lite USCG rated version. Highest flotation of all, lightweight, comfortable, comes in a variety of colors. You can DM me I think I know a discount code. I have been using these since 2015. Oh and it has a very good warranty for a PFD.
  24. it's not worth the trouble. I just got curious one day. the fish will most assuredly die if you catch them that deep.
