Alot of great info. Thanks everyone. It’s super appreciate. I’ve found a lot of effective baits this year for being in a new part of the country.

Thank you. I generally try to let the rings disappear. But I do get antsy lol. I’m gonna try that method and keep the bait in place longer!

    Wow now that’s impressive.
  4. I agree! They didn’t work at all in Florida. And I’m surprised the plopper isn’t played out yet here. I’m sure it will be a no bite next year kinda lure. But the popper does get bit like you said and been around forever. And I enjoy it. The slower methodical baits get me hooked.

The bullet pop is basically a Berkley version of the pop r. I like it a lot. I like the chug bug for a smaller lighter presentation. Much smaller splash. But neither are as good as the old Choppo lol.

Ok that’s kinda where I’m at. So I’m on the right track lol. I’ll have to look that one up!

So I’m really digging the Berkley bullet pop 70 and the storm chug bug. Im catching fish. And belaying the retrieve. Pop pause pop. Or pop pop pause. Until I find what they want. But every so often I get a few of the really good bloop bloop. The rest of the time I lose rhythm and get good splashes. I’m catching fish. But what do you all usually look for in a popper retrieve
  8. Got out this morning. Caught a few at one pond on the Berkeley bullet pop 70. And a couple on a culprit ribbon tail. Had to move to one of the other ponds though. Or the mosquitos would have carried me off literally. So went down the road to the next pond. Got one on the bullet pop. And then the bite died. Farted around a while with a strike king cut-r worm. No bites. Three on the old Berkley Choppo 75 and sealed the deal on a few more. No spectacular fish but a good early before the sun rose morning. It’s overcast and rainy today so I may stop again depending what time I get out of work. I’m liking the poppers. Slower presentation but effective
  9. Does your drag slip on a good hook set when set at 4 pounds?
  10. I need to get better at that for sure
  11. Not sure. I actually have tried looking lol. Just never truly noticed
  12. Oh it was fully loaded and into the shut down of the rods blank.
  13. Thank you Mike! I appreciate the advice. I’ve only fished it once. I’m gonna keep at it though and see if I can get some results! That’s exactly why I bought them lol. I use a zoom uv worms a lot. But can’t get the magnums locally. Well these I can and they are slightly beefier.
  14. That’s actually what I do is thumb the spool on a hook set. But ibe never been sure if that’s a bad habit lol. Right now I’m using a falcon lowrider swimjig rod 7’ MH-MF 1/8-3/4 Phenix feather 7’1” MH-XF 1/4-3/4 fishing with 15 pound big game mono. these are my bank set ups I take every time. Both have Shimano slx xt reels one is a slx70 though with the smaller spool.
  15. Well yeah I know it will and I catch plenty. Was just curious about that worm thanks.
  16. I’m stuck on the bank. So cranks aren’t really an option lol. But I love reading about them lol
  17. I bought a pack of 6 inch. To have a lil bulkier version of my zoom uv worms. Found them locally. Im Not sure how I like the yet.
  18. I wish my ponds weren’t so choked out and swim jigs still consistently worked. I can get a bite on them in certain water and conditions. I agree tho a big ribbon tai or uv worm every time. I got some cut-r 6 inch worms. Haven’t caught anything and don’t know how I feel about them yet
  19. Wow thanks for the detailed post Pat. I screenshot that lol. I’ll never remember it all!!
  20. @WRB-2.0 I just got 2 of my wife’s 2 pound work out weights out. Holy cow 4 pounds of drag seem so loose I’ve been way over tightening my drag!!!!! It feels like a lot lifting the rod tip but once I try to pull line out with my thumb and 2 fingers it’s way lighter than I expected. The drag will slip bad on a good hookset like this though??
  21. That’s my experience over the years to lol. But pat always finds a way to slay monsters.
  22. You have mentioned that to me. And that’s kinda what I’m hoping for lol. And more later evening trips are definitely gonna happen. We shall see if I can unlock any giants like you Pat.
  23. Got a new schedule at work. So I won’t be able to do my 8-10am or so before work. I’ll be working from 5am-1pm. Gonna have to get god at those middle of the afternoon trips lol. probably be fine in fall and spring. Just the dead of summer that will stink.
  24. I’m really hoping they produce well this summer!
