Went out this morning. Specifically to try a popper. I bought a storm chug bug. I really like how they cast and the action is great. This guy nailed it. Much more subtle presentation that my Choppo. Which the bite had dried up on probably due to the heat. Anyway lost the popper a few casts later. Stopped at fleet farm and got another and a Berkley to try as well!!

I love the rapala x-rap in early spring. Size 10. Erratic enough but still stays tight. Not all over the place. Jerk-jerk with a long pause. It suspends well. Literally just fan casting.

Especially if it’s smaller pressured waters. I’ve had killer success this year on a berkley choppo. I bet next year I won’t be able to buy a bite on one lol

I’m not sure if she was pre spawn. Rude to ask a husky gal If she’s large of preggers. But I will say my PB was caught very early in the spring this year. Iowa in late march water temp probably wasn’t even 50 degrees yet honestly.

Next time try kind of fanning the weed guard out or cutting it even with the hook point and 45 degrees. It helps with a stiffer one for sure. Nice!!!!! Makes up for the skunk trips. Looks like yall had a great time!

Living in Florida and growing up fishing and kayak fishing. I can tell ya the sun is noooooo joke. More older friends have had skin cancer cut out of them than I can count. Including my dad. And I’ve had my hands get scorched. I always wore gloves. And long sleeves and pants. Knees/legs in a kayak is the sudden death. You get home and realize how burned your legs actually are

It’s gotta be something here or me lol. I can’t blame the fish. My usual tactics aren’t working. Shade lines. Deep grass or slop. Overhanging trees. Ya know the usual. I’m gonna try a different pond in the chain of them near my house. I need to try an extra early trip to though. I’ve been going from about 8am-10am

Man it’s like the bite dried up here. I may fool one or two. But fishing dropped big time lol. No matter what bait I throw or how. It is getting hot in the Midwest though.

I was just wondering because if it’s a vegetated pond or lake. Line is even less important. It blends in. Remember if you can see them cruising they can see you too

Always worth a shot man. Some fish in certain conditions are just educated. Maybe flouro willl be the tickets there alot of vegetation and cover?

We fished mono with flourless for years in saltwater before braid got big. It works just fine. I agree with @WRB-2.0 I don’t think it’s gonna aid in anymore strikes. Might in sensitivity on a slack like. I don’t personally think it’s worth it I like mono and straight braid. it’s all as hard as we make it. Some of us make it hard and like it that way. I like it simple and effective

It’s the only flouro I’ve ever tried besides all kinda leader material. I thought it worked well and was manageable.

Just grab a spool of invizx. And give it a shot. It’s pretty forgiving and easy to work with. It’s not for everyone. But you may really enjoy it! You could always buy a spool of flouro leader real cheap that will do the same thing. Since all you are looking for is the line to be less visible.

Right now I keep my jogs with the trailers on them in a zip lock bag. And throw it in my hip bag. How do you carrying jigs them?

I’ve used kalins, zoom and big bite baits. A grub is something I never really got picky with. That said I can get kalins pretty dang cheap and readily available here.

I will say though. Keep trying new baits. Really try to make them all confidence baits. I haven’t caught a thing on a blades jig in 10-12 years of trying. I did this week and did well. I’d throw it again and catch fish. Caught them on multiple retrieves. I’d catch fish on it again. That said in my area I don’t like it every bit of grass stops the blade from working. And honestly I can catch more working a swim jig. But I wana be capable with it so I’ve always kept trying.

Can’t go wrong with a jig. I probably fish a jig more than anything now. I used to be a huge Texas rig guy. I still throw it. But not near as much. I usually do better on the jig. I’ve found color and all that doesn’t seem to matter as much as the presentation. Now there is days they are chewing and just destroy the jig. But most days I can always sneak a bite in on a jig.

I tend to steer clear of most of the bps baits. Not the plastics. But jigs, hard baits, spinner baits. I buy the best I can with in reason. Buy once cry once. And try not to lose them. Quality hooks are important.

I’ve done it both ways. But not gonna lie original bags in there was easier. For the most part.

Ponds are muddy still about 1 foot visibility max. I threw a black and blue bladed mini max jig. I still don’t like them lol. I caught them on a swamp monster snapper jig with. Rage craw trailer in falcon craw. Black and green jig and red bug trailer basically. I really like that combo. Did have this guy hit the blades jig tho. Haven’t caught one of these in a long time lol
