Siebert Shot caller Swim Jig
Great @Pat Brown@NorthernBasser another style of jig I need to try. lol!!! Gonna have to snag some of those for sure. I enjoy my sniper jigs. But as thick as the weeds and stuff are getting here that shot caller in 1/4 ounce would be great!

Happy Father’s Day! got up at 4:30 and made it on the water about 5:20. It’s drizzling and overcast here. Brought a 3/16 pegged 10 inch ribbon tail in red bug. And a Berkley choppo 75. I just got the 75 Friday after work. Same profile as the 105. But shorter and smaller hooks. the choppo was the ticket fished till 8 o clock and lost count. Couldn’t get a bite on anything but the choppo. ( only bites on top water….what a problem to have haha) no huge fish. But I never catch big fish lol. But had a great morning walking the bank. Some of them were really pretty or dark colored since our grass, moss, and scum has really grown in thick. And they were aggressive this morning some o swore would be a lot bigger the way they hit and fought.

Is fluoro leader to braided mainline a bad idea for me?
I’m with everyone else. I’ve used leaders. I don’t find it to be necessary. I’ve caught them in clear water. Muddy water. Vegetation. Open water. I’ve even colored the braid with black markers for the first 6-8 feet. I just don’t think the fish care. They are generally reacting. It’s a reaction strike. They aren’t generally examining the bait with a microscope.

Underspin on a fluke?
I use a 3/16 weedless ewg underspin. For small swim baits or flukes. Works well especially if there is a lot of fishing pressure.

Night fishing - swim jigs
Man this topic came up in a conversation earlier lol. I wana go night fishing now. My local spots get a lot of catfish action at night though. Maybe I’ll give it a try! do yall wear headlamps? So you can see casting and such? I know saltwater fishing we never worried about a headlamp.

I am officially a jig man.
Great catches! Nothing quite like jig/swim jig bite. I’d take that any day over other baits.

A black Barkley choppo 75 or 105 has been killing them here as well! Great catches! Wow Great catches!!! Great catches! And you are welcome! It’s a booyah boo jig if you can’t get it back. A bitsy bug or missle baits mini swim John’s a similar style jig that will do the same.

What line should I have on my baitcaster?
I could not agree more with @WRB-2.0and @Bazoo I’ve played around a ton with line this year. I fish a lot of bottom contact worms and jigs. And swim jigs. And mono fits that bill every time. I have no issue feeling strikes or bottom contact. Hooksets are good. It’s affordable. And it’s tough. I use big game or suffix elite. Which both I can get for around 10-12 dollars a spool at a local fleet farm.

Neko rig after a few outings!
T Mac reminds me of trickworm. I like the looks of it and the magic worm. That said I’d buy either on sale lol. For a much bigger and bulkier neko worm. Look at missle baits quiver 6.5 I like it as well

What’s everyone’s favorite (durable) ribbon tail
Absolutely. I usually trim some off the end to start. Just depends. But I sidle them down till the hook just fits lol

One Lure Challenge
I do this when I want to get good with a bait. I’ll go walk the bank with one rod and one lure. And that’s all I’m fishing. Makes ya figure it out and get confident in a hurry. But ya gotta be willing to stick with it. I may jump on this. And see what I can do.

Do you get burned out from fishing the same spots?
Exactly how I see it. I’m always chasing a bigger fish. But im Not gonna lie those days I can catch 20 in and hour and a half are so much fun. Even if they are all 1 pound fish.

What’s everyone’s favorite (durable) ribbon tail

Mistakes you made early on.
Early on about 15 years ago I started bass fishing at 22. Fished the intercostal waters of Florida my whole life though. I fell for the 6 different colors on every plastic, I changed lures a lot. And I mean a lot. Carried 20 pounds of crap on my back for a day of pond hopping ( which is entirely not necessary)

Neko rig after a few outings!
Man I’m sorry to hear that. That’s a tough day. I use o rings. So it helps a lot. But that’s exactly why I spiny buy the $4 for a pack of 10 weights and use nails lol
