  1. I tried the zoom ultravibe worms this year. What a great producing bait. And durable. And the crush city mayor has done very well as a trailer for me and on an underspin.
  2. Ugh that time of year is here. Stay hydrated and stay out of the sun when possible everyone!
  3. Went out this morning. Got a few on a swim jig. One had quite the pile of hardware hanging in his mouth. I was pretty surprised. This pond has a ton of pressure. Finally for the first time in 10 years I hit a bladed jig fish! Not much of one. But a fish! And I’m putting them back up or giving them away lol. They catch so much trash on the blade it’s wild lol. I’ll stick to a swim jig
  4. That’s funny. I do have a real small folding gamakatsu box I keep In my hip bag for walking the bank. But I use old soft plastic bags to keep hard baits and spinner baits and such in lol.
  5. Good job! That’s aweosme man. Maybe I’ll have to dig one out and try again
  6. I tried flouro. I just don’t see the need. It’s cool it sinks fast. And is sensitive. Not as sensitive as braid. I love braid to depending what I’m doing. That said plain old big game has been the best all around line for me. Mono does the job just fine sensitivity wise and bottom contact wise. I say save the money on flouro. And just use quality mono or braid
  7. Man I’ve got a black/blue, bluegill, and white mini max in the basement. I can’t catch anything on them. I’ve tried different trailers, and retrieves. I badly wana say I’ve caught one on a bladed jig. It just hasn’t happened lol
  8. Wow. Excellent advice thank you! Maybe I’m not forming a bad habit lol
  9. Dang. I bet that was fun
  10. No kidding? Maybe it’s just those reels. I mean it’s not a huge deal I just hate the habit of thumbing the spool
  11. No dragging locked all the way down. Maybe it’s me but man seems like more than a lil slip. I fish a lot of weed and grass areas. So if I’m working a work through there I need to set it hard.
  12. I’ve had braid, mono and flouro on this reel lol and the soool is taped with electrical tape. And has backing.
  13. This reel is only a couple months old and wasn’t sure if anyone else had run into this. On a good hard hook set with a swim jig or Texas rig. The drag slips. I have to thumb the spool to set the hook. I have another slx xt that doesn’t seem to have the same issue. Just curious if anyone has run into this.
  14. They treated one of the local ponds I fish in the business park again. So the grass died and water clouded up. Bite was just off. Temps are heating up here. So if it’s not a super early morning trip the bite seems off. I need to learn to skip lures now though! Found some overhanging trees and it had shaded the water. I’m not normally there when the sun is in that position. At this point I was screwing around waiting to go to work lol. So I casted under a tree and as far as I could at the bank with a choppo. And somehow didn’t get stuck in the tree. This guy crushed it on a reaction strike instantly when it hit the water. This one has some fat little fish in it. There was another one there after a few try’s I got it in the right spot but didn’t hook up just had a blow up.
  15. I have used ewg hooks for everything for a long time. But I am switching to only using them On fluke baits now. It’s a slimmer profile with a round bend and my hook ups are no worse. Should have done it years ago. But earlynon I started using ewg just so I wouldn’t have to tie another hook. I don’t switch baits to much anymore. So no worries
  16. Pretty much my method as well. I don’t spend a ton of time changing lures. I rig a couple options and that’s what fish. Some call it force feeding. I call it they’ll bite it or they won’t and I enjoy being out there.
  17. Went out and did this today essentially. I had a ribbon rail rigged on another rod. Threw it some. But not even a bite. So I just carried it around with me. And threw the other rod with a choppo 75 on it. Fished it at 2 different ponds. Lost count on fish.
  18. Thank you!
  19. Hahaha now that’s funny. They certainly seem To work better than a buzz bait (which I love) and a frog around here. Crazy seeing how as I tried them off and on for years in Florida lol.
  20. Exactly! But I want a busy boat I just don’t have one yet haha
  21. Well I went back Out to run errands. And there is a pond I always drive by and my stuff was in the truck. So I stopped and fished. The edge was really scummy and ya could only fish it on one side because of thick woods. But it’s on our DNR public list. Threw a choppo 105 because it’s what was tied on lol. Sun came out for the day. So I’m surprised I got any. But this guy was my only bite. I think I’ll have to try this spot again early in the morning. For a first catch around here on a new pond. This is a good fish.
  22. Now that’s a good looking limit! @Swamp Girl he is right. I hope all goes well when the time comes.
  23. Dang that’s a cool piece of history
  24. After talking with you it’s been all snipers and grass jigs. Snipers for 3\16 and 5/16 and grass jigs for 3/8 and 1/2 ounce
