Got out on the pond as the sun was coming up. I was pretty determined. Yesterday I went and bought a black Berkley choppo 105 (plopper bait) I’ve struggled over the years on poppers and never caught anything on them. Bought them tried and they usually got given away. I got 8 this morning. For about 1-1.5 hrs there was no wind and calm water. Sun creeping up. It had to be retrieved slow enough it just had a steady glurp to it. But you couldn’t burn it. Ran it along grass and mat. And over submerged grass. got a few on the Neko rig with a missle quiver worm too. But all in all really happy to have caught fish on a bait I had no confidence in.

Anyone fish roboworms?
I see the colors are awesome looking. Definitely catch the fisherman’s eye. Wonder how well they work for Neko rig?

Anyone fish roboworms?
I was at scheels today. They had a great selection of 6” roboworms. I’ve heard of them in the past and they looked like great worms that would have a great action just thought I’d ask before I try any and thought it might kick off some good conversation.

I am officially a jig man.
Well done! I could not agree more with @Jig Man and @Pat Brown im somewhat the opposite of Pat. I fish a swim jigs a lot. But don’t always swim it. I’ll hop it, drag it, swim it whatever. Even pitch it if the cover is close and thin. A jig is so versatile. Trailers are endless. Depending what you are trying to mimick. I will say though the paddle tail is deadly. and I did it just like jigman said. I took nothing but a jig and one rod. And made it work

New boat shoes!
Growing up in Florida and being in work boots 10 hours a day. Taking care of your feet is important lol. Good wool socks even in the heat is amazing. Keeps feet dry and stench free. Good looking shoes.

Stained water day after raining weather trouble
Absolutely. Most lures work all year it just dictates how you work them.

Competing against natural forage
So there is a pond I fish. There is big fish in it I’ve caught 3-4 pounders in it. But you really gotta work for it. And it’s definitely not a numbers pond. You can catch a few 1 pounders in an outing but it takes a while. But this pond is loaded with crappie and blue gill. You can see them as you walk the bank everywhere. So besides normal fishing pressure does anyone else believe the whole why hit a lure when the real deal is plentiful?

Tips on finding new spots and finding out before fishing if there are fish
I’ve always just looked on google earth, and the the DNR and put the time in.

Be observant of you’re surroundings
It can teach you a lot about where you are fishing if bank fishing. One of the ponds I frequent got bush hogged the other day. They cut from the trail down to the tree and bush line. It kicked all kinda stuff up. It’s a pressured neighborhood pond. while fishing this morning. I picked up some trash but started finding Al kind of lures and soft plastics in the grass that the tractor slung around. I learned a lot about what’s being thrown in this pond by the packages I found and the lures and the soft plastic colors. It can be a big help in a pressured fishery. I found more watermelon, green pumpkin and black and blue stick baits than you can shake a stick at lol. I got enough to melt down and make my own haha. Found spinner baits, beetle spins. Also found a whopper plopper that needs new hooks. That was cool.

My local ponds
Yes it is. All of them have good fishing but that northern pond is my favorite. The northern end of it is the best fishing. I’ll definitely try that when spring comes!!!! The pond to the south below it is also very good numbers pond. But nothing huge in it. The next one down the chain my pb came out of this year. I got on 4 fish in 30 mins same spot 2.5-4 pounds. they see a lot of local pressure. Weekends are pointless to me to go there can be a lot of people. But before work in the mornings or early on the weekend at 5-8am. I do well. It’s fun having them so close. I have some other places I fish always looking for new ones. But these are nice and convenient.

Anyone else using mend-it to combat tackle costs?
I can see that being the mixture. Didn’t think of the acetone

My local ponds

My local ponds
Hmmmmm I’ll have to look into it. Do ya fish the same style baits and stuff?
-
My local ponds
Yes it is lol! But if you use less common boats or colors. Ya can do really well. I’ve had 20 fish trips in 2 hours all 1.5-2 pound fish. And my pb is out of one of those ponds. 4 pounds. ya know. I haven’t no idea how to even begin river fishing lol. But I see it’s super popular here!

My local ponds
Oh for sure. I’m new here. And everyone knows about them lol. They have walking trails around them. They are heavily pressured. But I still do decent

My local ponds
Kinda thought you may know the area lol. Yeah it’s a really fast growing area. We are here for the school system or we would have picked a much less busy area. My kiddo loves it tho. Man wrestling is huge here lol!
