I like the xzone swimmer or crush city mayor on a 3/16 ewg underspin. Usually get the 3-3.5 inch swim baits from them. The xzone aren’t super durable but they catch fish great. The mayors are real rugged

This. Everyone should read this. I didn’t truly get confidence baits. Till I started taking only that bait out and making it work. And dialing in the presentation now I fish with only a few things and colors really

See that’s where I’m at. Same small ponds all the time. But trying to master them and unlock what actually works there is a ton of fun. But adventure kicks in and I start looking at google maps wondering what If?

Bummed but it’s fun isn’t it? that’s where I have been moving to the Midwest. I’m from Florida. I’ve never fished the actual seasons lol

I was just chatting with another member about this exact question. I fish the same 4 ponds a lot. They are heavy pressured as they are city ponds and one is in a neighborhood they are all with in a few mile stretch. I have got 2 of the 4 figured out quite well. The other 2 are hit and miss but hold large fish. And a new 5th just opened up and was stocked actually. the added pressure makes unlocking the puzzle that much harder. Average catch is 1-2 pounds in these ponds. But there is bigger. I fish before work a lot. And I’m busy with home life. So my trips are alot of early mornings for 1.5-3 hours. So the farther the drive. The less actual fishing time I have. and what’s to get burned out? Seasonal patterns change. Vegetation changes. Weather and wind. It’s always a different game everytime.

Hmmm I’m using vmc size 2 Neko hooks. Are you using the weedless hooks? I don’t mind but I still catch a decent amount of pond weed and grass the way I’m doing it.

I have some yum dingers with the boot tail. I like to slow roll them with a 1/8 ounce weight. Or a swim jig trailer. Or I tear the tail off and use it as a stick bait lol

I will say catches in general are better for me mimicking actual forage for sure.

Excellent advice! That’s honestly what try to do. That pond does see a ton of pressure. Lots of bobber fisherman on that one in particular. But it’s got great fish

I’ll have to give that a try. I’ve never tried tied hooks before. Never heard of it actually! Now my interest is peeked!! Got on the plopper bite again this morning with the choppo. I found a spot on the bank of the heavily pressured pond. Where the grass Matt’s were 6-8 feet off the bank making a 3 foot deep channel between it and the bank. Casting parallel to the bank. I pulled one after another this morning. Even in the wind the Choppo produced in the choppy water. No huge fish but they have been eating well all of them were chunks ( this pond has a ton of forage) one even had a crappy jig still stuck in his mouth from breaking off someone’s line.

Wow! They say those glide baits are big fish catchers for sure. That’s an interesting sounding bank. It’s hard to fish the banks here. They are grass for 10 feet out or so. So ya have to fan cast out to the middle. But when ya find a spot to work between the grass in the pockets almost a guarantee to hook up. in truly believe fish learn lures and getting hooked. And I think they learn us being near the water and walking around and such

Very nice! Sounds a lot like the chain of ponds here. One doesn’t have parking near it really. But a neighborhood by it with a walking trail. That pond sees pressure from the neighborhood mostly and very few people want to park and walk all the way to it. I fish it very early in the morning before work. Or on a weekend morning. It seems a lot of pressure in the evening when everyone’s home from work and school. the other ponds on the chain all have parking and over mowed grass just like you describe. I’ve gotten a couple 4 pounders out of one of them. But just like you can’t repeat it. Those fish are educated and seen a lot like you said. Makes them hard to catch. But man I keep trying haha. I agree though. A fish that big has been there and seen it for sure.

I gotta go watch some of his videos. See that’s the same boat I’m in. My local spots see a ton of pressure as well. So I’m always trying to be creative and find stuff they don’t see. Present something differently. just walking the banks the old lures and plastics I find. I can tell ya they see a ton of black/blue and green stick baits and craws, beetle spins. it’s a shame we have these really nice ponds in our area. And people just leave all kinds of crap. I’ve found sunglasses, filet knives, pliers, lures, hot dog and chicken liver packages and beer cans. You name it lol

Not gonna lie I bank fish and always early early in the morning. And I’m tired of going to work with wet shoes and socks to change into my work boots. I bought a pair of the xtratuf 6 inch slip on deck boots in brown today so I can just throw them in my truck and put dry shoes on. They are seriously nice and comfy.

Merino wool socks are moisture wicking naturally. My feet rot in all other socks. Odor and everything went down with merino wool blend. Darn tuff Vermont makes amazing socks. $20 a pair. But they come with a lifetime warranty. West then out they send ya new. All I wear day in day out

I can see that. If I knew my depth for sure I’d try weightless. So far weighted has been easier. I’m not adding a ton of weight tho.

Bank fisherman here no live scope,sonar, business. I like the Nemo better than the wacky I think it performs a ton better in even shallow water. Since the bait wants to stand up some instead of a horizontal fall.
