BPS Classic - dissapointing turnout
I agree- same every year. Not great discounts. They had Storm Arashi's for $9.24 each. I bought them at Meijers for $2.34 each and 5ft depths at $3.54 each. Not much in way of true Pros' for seminars. Just locals. They always reduce the fish cleaning table to $69.99 from $99. Rod wraps were at $3.97- not bad. Typically, they are not the first to get all the new baits either. Every year the Johnny Morris baitcast combos for $99. I had $20 in gift cards left over- so I got one. For most part, historically, has good reviews. Alas, a Cabelas will be opening nearby soon in greater Detroit area. Bottom line: TW, Overtons, and others online get most of my business.

Talking to the locals
I talk to others coming off the lake, though, I definitely talk to the local bait shop when picking up live bait.

Storm Arashi Silent Square Bill 5 on Sale
So, today I go into a local Meijer store here in Michigan to get out of the office for a bit, and the Storm Silent Arashi Square Bill 5 is discounted to $2.24 each. The 3 foot depth version was $3.39 each. I've heard pros and cons, but at that price I picked up a few of the 5 foot depth. Three cranks for $712 out the door. I see out on web they still going for $5 to over $9. Thoughts on quality of presentation and design of lure?

Anyone try the Uncle Josh/Kalin's Pork soft baits?
Good bait. Very hard to get off. Dont let it dry on the hook. Or real hard to get off.

Lake St. Clair Michigan
I like the bays in the north-the dumping grounds- metro beach area- out deep near shipping channel- docks. I throw everything though, cranks, jigs with trailer, wacky, shaky, live bait are my favorites. Bass, walleye, pike, pumpkinseed, perch. Still would like to try sturgeon or musky.
- If you could only buy one?

Where do you need to improve ?
Patience like was said. Force myself to stay with one bait to get confident. And more cow bell. (drop shot) ?

advice on buying a bass boat
Read topics in Boating Magazine online. Dont forget your tow vehicle that it can handle load. Motor choices is another area. Outboard is easiest n cheapest to service. Take for test ride. You can always pay a boat mechanic to check out your boat and trailer. Dont forget to checknout trailer. Lights, wheel bearings, brakes if applicable, bunk guides, winch, jack, rollers etc. There are plenty of articles and checklists on line for education n consideration. I spent many hours learning, and checking out boats. If u have a friend knowledgeable thats best. You can also go to a boat sales store n ask questions as if you are interested in new boat. Good luck.

Dicks Sporting Goods Tackle Sale Countdown
Once they opened Field and Stream in suburb of Detroit they closed the Dicks across the street. F& S is overpriced with minimal selection from my perspective.
