  1. That is a nice fish. The lake looks wild!!
  2. I just figured nobody wanted to see a bunch of bass pics. I do like seeing the southern boys post pics of the giants.
  3. Any rod can work for cranking. Most rods that are labeled “cranking rods” have a more moderate taper. This can help with casting as well as keeping fished pinned with treble hooks. That is the simple answer. There is more to it if/when you dive deeper down the rabbit hole.
  4. Darn it you guys, you are ruining my retirement dreams in a warm climate!!?
  5. Yep, same pucker factor while trout fishing there. The population is not very dense at least.
  6. I am so close to Iowa that I head down there for pre-season warm up on pre spawners!!
  7. Oh man, you are making me thankful for this snow again!! That puckered my backside.
  8. Oh, it is definitely happening, much to my chagrin! It is just my opinion and it won’t matter at all in the big picture. We all have to decide what we think and how we will feel about this and then proceed in our own ways.
  9. I kind of did the same thing. I did some searching around for panfish rods and then remembered I had gotten the code for St. Croix. I thought I would check them out for maybe one panfish rod and another for bass, but they didn't have much left. It was a really cool sale that just doesn't happen often . Very cool thing Omnia did. They have run some good sales this year so far. They may be competing with Midway USA for my money!!! I think I may have purchased Mr. Potterfield's groceries for the year at Midway!!!
  10. The SV Tatulas are amazing. I really like them. I have been really happy with my other Daiwa reels too, but the SV is so versatile. If you do any skipping, casting light lures, or casting in the wind, you will be very happy with the Tatula SV!!
  11. Absolutely. I just think the fan base will drop and that should influence the financials.
  12. Or fans that stop watching people stare at screens all day. That will change some minds. Heck, they even banned ladders to prevent sight fishing among many other obscure things.
  13. Swimbaits. It might be an effort in futility. It just looked too interesting not to try.
  14. I bought the 6’9” ultralight and the 7’ light. I often bring my wife and daughters or a buddy and needed a couple more panfish rods. I only live 2 hours from Omnia so I should get them quickly!
  15. They have had a lot of good sales going on as well. I am sure a lot of people advantage and depleted inventory.
  16. My favorite sound in the whole world! My happy place. I don’t work in the summers and get to spend a lot of time alone on the smaller lakes around me(my buddies and most people are working, literally alone). Almost every trip I take time off fishing to put my feet up, eat a sandwich, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the water. I thank God every time I get that opportunity.
  17. I have an older 7’3” heavy Okuma TCS. I like the rod and use it for ploppers, heavy spinner baits, etc. I don’t think it would make a great jig rod though. They typically have a softer tip section and I don’t like that for jigs.
  18. There is not much left at all. I just ordered two panfish rods. $140 for two is a heck of a deal.
  19. I would have fun rigging them up and get excited about heading out fishing. Plus, you are ready to go when you can get out. It really isn’t going to hurt anything. It is also good practice for you to tie up lures and thread on plastics when you have the time and conditions to do it. Go have fun!!
  20. Geeez, you really know how to throw salt in the wound! ??. We have snow in the forecast for tomorrow!!! ?. I am going to have to drive south soon.
  21. I would grab them both as well. Try them both and decide which one you like best and sell the other one. You will easily get your money back. Or keep both and feel really lucky.
  22. I have not had bad luck with knots at all. If I had to Re-tie all my lures before each time I went fishing, it would cut out a lot of fishing time. I carry 20+ rods rigged up it in my boat. I will keep plastics on my hooks for weeks without any problems. I will rig up plastics the night before a tournament as blast off is often at 6 AM. I wouldn’t have time otherwise. I do agree that there is no reason to rig up hooks or plastics for fun fishing unless it is the night before.
  23. I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was in my late 40’s. I was always a workout guy and ate pretty well too. I thought coffee was disgusting. My wife really got into it so I gave it a try. I do limit myself to one travel tumbler per day. Drink it first thing at work and done. I can’t believe I actually look forward to it most mornings.
