  1. I'm seeing more all the time but I don't think we have enough to effect much. Yet.
  2. I do well with the 6xd and the dd 22 I have a 10xd which hasn't produced but I haven't thrown it much. I snapped a 72 mh carrot stick casting it
  3. Agree outboards sell fast around here. Unless you don't want to mess with it
  4. I think that lightning rod may give you a lot of nose with braid as well. I haven't ran braid on my ghost but I could see it being noisy.
  5. Ghost mh is a great option for the price. I have the 73 mh
  6. In clear water like bull shoals I would for sure use a mono or floro leader. A double uni works well. The sensitivity of the braid is great. I have had to replace my tip before because of the braid cutting into it
  7. I have a 7 8 rick clunn wright McGill which i like but I don't think it is made anymore. The skeet Reese could be similiar
  8. D agree I use 10 lb cxx and love it. A little trouble casting at first but once it is wet it handles well.
  9. I have trouble casting smaller diameter braid on baitcasters except for pitching. I do like it on spinning gear.
  10. My hand is average size and I have never noticed the taula being much bigger than any other reel
  11. Well gulf captain Sumed It up well. X2
  12. The president is a nice reel. If this is going to be your main rod i would get a 6'6 mh rod and put a 10 lb braid on it. It is easy to tie a double uniknot if you want to use a mono or floro leader. For under 50 I don't have a recommendation but to just go to the store and feel them. For about $60 you could get. a okuma reflection which is a nice multi purpose rod.
  13. Fish for a reaction bite. I love the wind with cranks shallow or deep. Cast low and at an angle into the wind. Get on the windy bank and work it You can get close to the bank and angle cast out. Find there depth and keep at it. That can make for a good day. Boat control can be an issue but the wind will mask your nose.
  14. I know it isn't common but I often fish wallking baits with a spinning reel 10 lb braid. My sun was smoking me with a Sammy on his spinning and I have been doing it since. Puppy's cast and work great
  15. Agree. I can use a spinning feel for most anything but most applications I prefer a baitcaister for the reasons mentioned in other post. Try it you will most likely learn to like it better as well. I read an article on FLW. Where a tourney angler used nothing but spinning gear and he was winning with it. He used large reels as well for punching ...... He said he didn't spend enough time on the water to sharpen his skills with a baitcaister and with spinning he could get right to business. Ot the norm but I can see his point. Large spinning gear can horse fish just fine. Watch salt water fishing.
  16. Sammy And spooks. Something about the way that Sammy bobs for clear water.
  17. Yes it has been beaten to death. But if you are asking. Duckett ghost. $100. I have a 7 3 MH and love it. It has a softer tip for good cast sensitivity and it plays the fish well. It has a strong backbone for a solid **** set.
  18. Nice. Your casting that from a hobie sitting down? Sounds tough. Are you able to cast it very far?
  19. Try 10 lb pline cxx for lower stretch. I have. No problem casting it when wet. I recently tried a 15 lb McCoy copolymer and it cast great. And the stretch was low.
  20. Wind. Wind effects it all. If it is bad enough you won't take your boat out but you can still cast with the wind. ??
  21. Wind. Wind effects ithe physics of it all. If it is bad enough you won't even take your boat out. But you can still cast with the wind. ??
  22. I just got a 73 MH ghost paired with a Lews bb1 7:1 left with McCoy 15 lb copolymer. I love it and it could be used for most any application. I also own a taula and would reccomend it as well
  23. Sounds like cheap line to me. If you are using a good 10lb plus line you should be able to pick out a backlash no problem unless you really torque on it. I like copolymer and use pline cxx 10 lb. recently tried McCoy co and like so far. Cast sideways to the wind and sidearm to keep it down. Boat control inthe wind is usually a bigger issue for me. If uncertain just keep your breaks tighter
