I had one yesterday where the hook point didn't penetrate the gill but the bend was around it.. It was pulling on one of the gills. When I brought the fish in it was bleeding really bad. I got the hook out easily because the hook never went in. . I put it on a stringer behind my rowboat. When I do that I don't run the stringer through the gills. I puncture the soft skin under the bottom jaw and run it through there. After rowing around a few hours the fish looked a lot better. He wasn't going belly up. I took him off the stringer and looked at him. The bleeding had totally stopped. I put him back in and he swam away. Hopefully he will survive.

Shoulda bought a Lew's

I don't agree with that unless maybe you have all the brakes on.i would say spool tension robs most of a fisherman's mid cast.That's why a dual braking system is nice. Even nicer is the externally adjustable Lews system. You can have any amount of centrifugal brakes you want with the touch of a dial.

Not possible. They back off mid cast I would go online to sportsmans outfitters and get a Lews Custom lite for 209 and a Dobyns Sierra micro or non micro for 169. The reel weighs 4.9 oz . the rod is awesome and has lifetime warranty. Just remember Dobyns heavy is actually mh.

Those are MB brakes. Like I said you'd have to go back 3 generations for that brake in the Tournament Pro.The Tournament Pro G is the predecessor of today's tournament pro . It had the 28 point externally adjustable centrifugal system.

Totally different brakes. The reel you are showing is 3 models old. The tournament pro g is the previous version to today's tournament pro.

I thought the older tournament pro had the externally adjustable centrifugal brake? I could be wrong.

Thats a tournament MB. MSB stands for multi setting brakes. It has centrifugal under the side plate and magnetic with external dial. They were the predecessor of the MP with the red handle. They are great reels for the money and should last a long time.

That's funny because I thought it was fine in ripwrap.

Great line. Extremely low stretch. Very sensitive. Casts well on a baitcaster.

I would get a Dobyns Sierra in that price range.

I used to balance my rods but I stopped when the newer lighter rods came out. I now buy rods that balance right before the reel locknut with a reel on the rod.Since I've gotten older it relieves the fatigue and stress on.my joints.

I've been doing it for years. 30 to be exact. Just use a softer rod.

last i heard on his video he now cranks with braid.

Did you tie a scale to it and actually measure pounds of drag ?

I have zero issues with Lews 27 point centrifugal externally adjustable brake with Ned rigs Dobyns Sierra micro rods are awesome.so are bps Johnny Morris Signature series.

It would be my Lews Custom lite. Why ? Value would be one reason. It's weight of 4.9 ounces is another good reason.it casts further than any other reel I've owned or used. It's also as backlash free as a baitcaster can get. The gears are smooth as is the 20lb. Carbon drag. I absolutely love this reel.it casts Ned rigs easily and pitches jigs with ease. I really have no dislikes about it.

Bass are not smart enough to know what line is. You can put a live worm right in front of a cruising bass on flourocarbon and watch them ignore it. They are either focused on your bait or they are not. That said I do color my lime green braid black so that the chartreuse line doesn't detract their attention from the bait. Fish bite all kinds of crazy lures that have hooks and terminal tackle all over them. Look at an umbrella rig. IMHO you need to stop worrying about line visibility.
