If the backlash is in the beginning turn on more pins. If it's in the middle of the cast more magnets on the dial or more thumb. I run the tension loose.

also make sure your line is tied to the spool and not slipping all day long..

I bury my spool in the hamper under my clothes and reel the line on through the rod guides with a tight drag. It goes on nice and straight and even that way.

I have a BPS JOHNNY MORRIS 7-6 flipping stick with an extra fast tip and there is no mistaking it for anything but extra fast.

I use a 7 ft medium fast bass pro shops Patriot rod with a Lews tournament pro 7.5 to 1 baitcaster spooled with 8lb Sufix advance mono.

I would switch to all Lew's .

Or just get a Lews with a 27 position adjustable centrifugal brake.

I've used 50lb braid for cranks for years with a snap. Hardly ever loose a fish. Just don't horse them. Keep the drag loose.what you feel with the braid is amazing. The 50lb Sufix 832 works great in rocks. As far as the rod I use a mh moderate fast falcon bucoo.You can crawl the crank up and down huge boulders and stop it when it contacts then let it float up. You can feel them suck it in when they strike.
