Somebody up there likes me
Sweet! Thats got to suck to lose a rod and its got to rock when you get it back! Like christmas early lol. Moral of the story, Always leave floating lures with plenty of slack on your combo, incase it goes in the drink. ;D

Spro Frog- looking to acquire confidence
If you want a imitate a real frog dont trim the legs. Frogs do not swim in zig-zags, the swim in short jerks with hardly any side-to-side or vertical movment. The spro frog imitates a real frog very well. Go out into a swamp and watch the frogs. When they think they are in danger, they dart away and then resurface a few yards away, and frogs in lilly pads will often rest ontop of the pads. My faverite place to fish the Spro is in lillys, so I try to mimick a real frogs movment the best I can. In open spots, I retrieve my frog the same speed you retrieve a willow spinnerbait, giving in rapid jerks, then when I come to pads I slow down. I always try to get my frog near or even partly ontop of pad, and give it tiny twitches. The legs flare out and twitch, and it looks exactly like a frog trying to climp onto a pad. This drives the bas crazy. Once you get out of the pads, reel in the frog fast. (with jerks) Alot of times the bass will follow it out of the pads and slam it then. Tight lines! Matt

Bluegill Swimbait
I use 20lb power pro for my mattlures. Its plenty strong and you can hold more than heavier braided lines.

Anyone ever use this frog?
I ordered a Fish Arrow Cover Jack from ***.com. A little pricey but I use weedless frogs alot so I figured its worth it. I got mine in Natural Frog. http://www.***.com/descpageHDTLOBINA-FACJ.html Anyone else ever used these frogs or heard anything about them? I searched it on google and didnt get any good results... so I'm guessing it is not that popular. The video on the right is pretty sweet if you want to check it out. Aparently it gets a walk-the-dog retrieve with the skirt option instead of the blade. (comes with bolth) I'll have to compare it with my spro.

Got out of my slump. 5/7
Yeah Red Shad works great. I prefer melon/chart and darker colors for muddy water. I would have ordered a bunch of red shad, but they where out.

double hockey injury...no fishing for me
That really stinks. And right in the middle of the spawn too. Hope you get better ASAP

Got out of my slump. 5/7
I've been in a slump for a long time, but yesterday I did good and got out of it. I was using a Trigged 7" Powerworm in watermelon/chart with a 1/4oz egg sinker and a Booyah Moon Talker in 3/8oz. I cought most of them on the T-rig, and gained a ton of confidence with the powerbait/t-rig combo. I have to say, that powerbait stuff is hard to beat. Most of my bass wouldn't have been cought if they didn't hold on for as long as they did. I ordered 5 packs last week and last night I ordered 2 more. In the later afternoon I was doing good, the biggest was 4lbs. Pulled her off a bed 8 feet from where I was standing. She jump clear out of the water right infront of me, then pulled drag and ran under a log. I hauled her out and landed her, and my line was very beat up. Since my line was nicked, I cut off my rig and tied on a Booyah Moon Talker. First cast, a 2.5 lber hits it half way in. (6.5 lbs of bass in two casts is not bad around here) Fished it for a hour without any more hits, so I switched back to the t-rig. Cought another bass on that before dinnertime. All in all it was a great trip. The weather was perfect, the bass where biting, and I was catching them. I'll take that anyday. Tight lines Matt

Rod selection...
Right now I'm looking at the Abu Garcia Revo STX for my baitcasting reel. I'm still looking around for a rod and I'm considering the St Croix Legend Tounament Bass in 6'6" Med/Hvy. Its kinda pricey though.... If I go with that the combo will be well over $400. So far I'm still planning on the VSystem/HMG spinning combo.

Whats your favorite part of bass fishing?

Clams for carp?
There is a lake nearby that has alot of clams. I can harvest 150 a day and I plan I using them for catfish. Just wondering, anyone ever hear of useing it for carp? I dont see why the carp wouldn't like them.... Thanks Matt

You really don't need mega $ to catch bass.
All I have to say is this: I am not part of the rat race. But I could use a little more cheese.
-
Rod selection...
Thanks guys for the info! I'll check out the IMX and the other rods for sure. Its still a couple months away so I have plenty of time to decide. I'll let you know what I'm doing once I give them a fine tooth comb looking over.

As far as I know bass only feed on live (or what they usume is live) things. I have never heard of using doughbaits for bass.

Rod selection...
I'm getting a job next month and I'm already making plans for my money. I want to get one nice baitcasting combo and one nice spinning combo. Here is what I was thinking: BC: Browning Midas (Hi-Speed) $150 Fenwick Techna AV $210 (6'6" Medium Heavy) for Jigs, Spinnerbaits, C-rigs, Topwater SPN: Okuma VSystem (V-40a) $150 Fenwick HMG $120 (7' Medium Heavy) for Soft Plastics, Light Cranks, Trigs Then I already have a: BC Browning Six Rivers Okuma Guide Select (7'11" Heavy) for Swimbaits and possibly frogs Just wondering, Do you think my spinning rod choice should be Med or Med/Hvy? Recently I've been noticing that my friend's heavier actions are getting much better hook ups when worming. Any reason why I shouldn't get a Med/Hvy? Is a lighter action more sensitive? If someone could list the pro's and con's that would be great. Thanks Matt

Carp and Bass in the same water
I'm not sure how the two get along, but i fish for bolth. Carp are very smart, hard-to-get-to-bite, big, hard fighting fish. Carp fishing is a bore when your not catching, but a blast when you get one on. I like to throw out a line for carp while I bass fish. Carp are not anymore "trashy" than catfish, and are truly a sportfish worthy of fishing for.

Wanna check my math??
Hey guys dont go so hard on him. I hate math with a passion but everyone tells me "you'll be glad you learned it sooner or later" so why not put math to a good use and apply it to fishing? Some of you guys don't want to get into fishing to the point where it requires alot of thinking, and thats perfectly fine. But some of us will memorize pi to the thousandth digit if it would help us to catch fish. JMHO
