Way to add fuel to the fire!!!!! OK guys go ahead a use your spinning gear. I'll stick with my stupid baitcaster.

Speed buddy, speed. Burning lipless cranks is an important tactic up North. Covering tons of water is critical and the BC just does a way better job in doing that. By the way I used spinning gear about 90% of the time this past weekend during my club tourney.

Of course it is, question is why would you not use a baitcaster? BC's are just way more effective. In one trip I will cast hundreds and hundreds of times with a 7.1:1 reel at a frantic pace. It's a pretty sight. No way you can accomplish this with spinning gear.

What about burning a lipless crank at high speed? Sure as hell are not doing it with spinning gear.

Tough bite, no doubt.

I use both. Love the spinning gear for jerkbaits, shallow cranks and smaller plastics. Can't beat a baitcaster for power fishing. When the reaction bite is on and covering water is critical, the bc totally dominates.

How did you do at ST? The Pink was tough, especially with the 15"minimum size.

Thank you Jason for prefishing yesterday. The area we fished produced again today. Bite was even tougher. We won with 4 bass for 9+lbs. 10 teams/boats competed. Not many fish were weighed. Lunker only went 3.39lbs.

Heading out to Assunpink on Friday with jyu87(Jason). Back out Saturday again for a club tourney(SJ Hawg Hunters).

I don't fish it but know people that do. There is a good population of largemouth throughout the whole river system. Good smallie fishing in certain areas too.

Fished Mary Elmer Lake yesterday. We caught largies on a variety of lures including chatterbaits, crankbaits, jigs and plastics. 12 keepers and 4 short fish. The KVD cranks caught the bigger fish. The bite really shut down after 12:00PM. Jason caught a spinning rod setup with a crankbait. Funny thing, there was a fish on the other end, an 8lb channel cat.. The carp spawning created havoc earlier in the morning.

Oh yea!!! Calm, hot sunny Summer days can really shut down the bite.

Late report from yesterday...Had an unexpected day off from work, so I decided to make the best of it and headed out to Rainbow lake at 5:30 AM. Hit some of my hot spots and was not disappointed. I caught a total of ten keeper bass, mostly on plastics, including a T-rigged PTL lizard, brush hogs and baby brush hogs. Pads and wood were the productive areas. Later on I moved offshore and caught a few on a KVD 1.5 crankbait.

Yep. That is the one.

Ocean Acres (Manahawkin). I'm not sure of the lakes name. I had a former club member that fished it a lot with real good results.
