  1. Did anyone use auger tails? That's all I used when I started fishing in the 80s. They always caught fish
  2. Mike. I'll buy the whole box....how much!!!!!??? Lol. I'll probably only use half of it at best but it looks great in my cellar
  3. 23% bass. 32% bluefin tuna. 18% pickerel 12% bluegill 37% snapping turtle 18% raccoon. Not sure if I should ask for my money back on my dna test.
  4. the shimano is $150 and not worth it at all. You can get a great jansport for less than that and is much better. Life time warranty!!! I already had the tackle boxes but those are cheap.
  5. DO NOT buy a "fishing specific" bag/backpack!!!!! Go buy a good backpack that's specified for hiking that is big enough for your needs. It will last 10 times longer. Might cost a few bucks more but a good backpack will last 10 years easy if your just using it for fishing.
  6. Bill dance would sell you his **** and tell you it catches fish!!!!
  7. When you are sponsored, your job is to sell their products!! Bottom line is that you need to increase their bottom line. I think that sums it up.
  8. Buy a peg board! I still have many more bags to sort but it's only February. And we just got 14 inches on snow so I'll be able to get after it this weekend.
  9. I couldn't agree more. Don't buy much of anything from bass pro anymore.
  10. I cast farther and more accurately on spinning gear with lures up to a 1/2 oz or so but when casting 3/4 oz and above baitcasters are better than spinning in my opinion. But your distance comes really comes from the rod... Not the reel.
  11. And to be with family and friends! I love taking my brother in laws out and watching them reeling in a 4 lb smallie. They do not have good form! Lol
  12. What lures produce for you? I done well on small gold kastmasters. Small spinners. Lizards to name a few.
  13. Live Craws are great. I don't like using live bait but I'll let my less experienced friends use them and they catch fish. Makes it easier for me. Just got to make sure to keep them away from the weeds. Also. I'm fishing from a boat so we are able to move them. That's key as they will hide or bury themselves.
  14. I was thinking the same thing!!! That's a great deak I catch fish on these but they are hit or miss. I'll either catch nothing or a couple biggies. I find they produce at night the best
  15. You have a good selection of set ups. I'd worry more about what to throw on them. What do you know about this body of water? Not sure where you live but in the northeast it's most likely going to be cold. Jig/bladed jig. Jerk bait. Rattletrap to name a few. and if your partner misses a bite throw a wacky worm right on top of him!!! Lol
  16. If you do go the bass pro route, go on day 1 on the sale. I find that they don't have a big selection of other brands of rods so they sell out quick. And shimano reels go quick also.
  17. Try a Carolina rig with a baby brush hog. Or 6 inch lizard. Drag it on the bottom.
  18. Try the areas/gates that are less traveled. Gate 35 (the rook) is a 30 minute walk. Not as much pressure out there. I love the smallies but I always have a rod rigged for trout. Half ounce perch kastmaster!!! Last April I caught a 3+ lb rainbow on a jerk bait and my friend caught a lake trout on a jig. When you hook something you never know what it is until you land it.
  19. Publish the names of the people running this hypocrisy.
  20. I'm going by what my friend from Texas told me.
  21. i wouldn't go there if you paid me. Too dangerous. Go out to California. Huge lg mouth. Or Great Lakes or Canada for epic smallmouth. Or if you want the battle of your life. Go to cape cod and battle a bluefin tuna on light tackle!!! Call Capt Dom. You will never be the same. Trust me on that.
  22. I go there all the time. I use to work 15 minutes away from there for the last 2 years but just took a new job. Let's meet up in April. I live north of Boston
  23. I always carry a plastic bag to pick up trash. This fall I was picking up some crap at the Wachusett reservoir in mass which is our drinking water and one of the best places to fish in the state. I picked up what I thought was a pen but it was a needle. I was shocked. Be careful.
  24. Bass pro has their reel and rod trade in promo coming up soon. It's in Feb or March depending on where you live. Buy a $5-$10 combo at a flee market and save. Or check out classifieds on this site. Or ***. Great deals to be had.
  25. In Mass there's some good spots down south. Plymouth and cape areas. See prior posts but Quabbin is #1 in my opinion. I also suggest Wachusett. Target gate 14 -24 But For smallies I go to nh:. Winny. Squam. Newfound. Maine is great from what I hear but I don't have first hand experience.
