Lots of opinions on what to use.....what water clarity are you fishing? Water clarity dictates what line I use. I fish a lot of super clear water so in that case I stay away from braid.

I'm in the same boat. I'll go there during the spring sale /rod and reel trade in. But I usually don't end up buying much because all the good brands and colors are limited or sold out. I'd say more than half the fishing tackle is their brand.

I picked up the orochi xx during the recent sale. $100 off was impossible to resist!!

I'm looking for recommendations on a casting reel. Trying to keep it around the $200 range. I have a few baitcasting set ups with BPS pro qualifiers but I picked up a megabass rod over the holidays and want to upgrade. Rod is rated up to 1.25 oz. I'll be using it to throw bigger cranks. Spinnerbaits etc. im looking for casting distance and easily accessible braking system. Biggger spool if possible. I'm leaning towards shimano or diawa. New curado or zillion/sv???? or used steez or met?? I'm a lefty so if you are selling let me know Thanks in advance!!

No disrespect but if that's the warranty (no questions asked) why not use it? It's built into the price of the rod and it is a big reason why a lot of people I know buy g loomis. My wife broke the tip off of a brand new rod in the cellar door. Thank god I had the warranty!!

I love high end gear but you don't have to pay full price If you wait for a good deal online. I won't buy a rod over $200 unless it's on sale (at least $100 off). I ended up getting a glx last year during an online sale for $250. G loomis has the wildcard program (you got to register the rod though). When the rod breaks in 4 or 5 years they will replace it for free no questions asked!!! Make sure your the high end rod has a great warranty and it's a no brainer!!!

I have an opportunity to buy a used steez 100 hla. I'm mostly a spinning guy but I have a decent baitcasting setup that I've learned how to cast with and I'm looking to upgrade. I just bought a megabass rod (rated up to 1oz) and need a reel to go with it. I'll be using this set up to throw heavier baits: Jigs. Spinnerbaits and cranks. Any feedback on this reel and other options are appreciated. My price range is 200-250.

I just picked up an orochi. I couldn't resist the $100 off sale. Great rod and for $175 it's a no brainer imo. My Xmas present to myself!!

I love my spinning gear for most applications because I do a lot of finesse fishing. But as I've expended into bigger baits I use the baitcast much more. Anything 3/4 or bigger im using the bait caster. And it didn't take long to get the hang of it. Figuring out how to adjust the braking system is key.

A new drug for gout was approved by the fda in august. It's called duzallo. Ask your doctor about it.

I thought the same thing RMax. It's Got to be a baby trout.....but after looking at the pic a few more times I thought the head didn't quite fit. The pond is north of Boston. Super clear. Bass. Trout. Perch. All types of sunfish. Never caught a pike or pickerel in there but heard they have been caught on occasion.

Not really a big difference in 1/2oz vs 5/8oz. Try casting a half oz lure on each and see how they perform. I have a heavy baitcasting fury and I like the rod a lot..especially at that price point.

Thanks Bull!!! Any insight into what they were throwing. I'm targeting smallies but will be also throwing baits that can catch all of the above species like: Spinners. Spoons and small kastmasters.
